Play date cafe challenge- Miranda's contribution

Hello all you crafting people,

This is my contribution for the PDC challenge. I used one of the new beautiful lady stamps from Elusive Images (just released). I stamped her with a mix of orange and red dye ink because the coral red colour is a hard one to find. I coloured the dress with Derwent colour soft pencils and used a glue pen with ultra fine glitter for the glitter effects. Also used some Spica pens for glitter effects. On the background I embossed the motif with clear EP. The flowers and border are dies from Crealies (Holland).  I added a ribbon with a pearl buckle at the lady's waist and a piece of the border as lace under her dress.

Well, have a nice crafty day!, greetz, Miranda

Play Date Cafe

Come Play at The Play Date CafeThis week Elusive Images is sponsoring the Play Date Cafe Challenge.  Each week they issue a colour scheme and challenge you to produce artwork based on that week's colours.  There are no restrictions on the type of artwork, just that it features the selected colours.

This week's colours are a modern, fresh take on classic red and green, chosen because we are focusing on a Christmas theme.

Some of our own Design Team have managed to squeeze a few moments from their busy schedules to play along and here's what they came up with.  You'll have to visit the Play Date Cafe website to see my submission as I'm their guest designer this week.

Hi Everyone,  for my card I cheated a bit and used a pre-cut and scored card base.  I covered most of the card with scrap paper so that I could stamp the holly spray from Christmas Reflections (UA4SP0230) randomly across the two side panels.  I used Versafine black ink to stamp with and then Adirondack inks in Meadow and Watermelon and a waterbrush to add colour.  Next came the words from Christmas Flourish (UA4SP0159) before adding the strip of Martha Stewart punched tree border and the ribbon.  I then used the Versafine black ink and clear embossing powder for the gorgeous swirly holly wreath from Snowflake Flourish (UA4SP0283).  I cut this out with a circle Nestability and layered onto a green scalloped circle.  I added a metal wreath charm before attaching to the card with 3D foam pads.

Hi folks, for my Ivy Angel , I used an A5 card base, and mounted red and green card stock onto this. I then took a piece of white card and stamped the solid and open trailing ivy from the Christmas Foliage stamp set, using Olympia Green Versafine Ink. I edged the card using Barn Door Distress Ink. I cut a shape using a Nestability Die from white card, and edged this with Barn Door Distress Ink, and then stamped the sentiment from the Frosty Trees stamp set. I cut a small mount from green card. I stamped the angel using Versafine Onyx Black Ink, and coloured the image using Distress Inks and a waterbrush. I have used some yellow, as this is allowable in the PDCC rules. I stamped eighteen large ivy leaves onto white card, and coloured these with Forest Moss Distress Ink and a waterbrush, and then gave them some definition with a mossy green Inktense pencil.
As I assembled my card, I curled the ivy leaves, turning them in different directions, and attached them with silicone glue. I mounted the sentiment on foam pads so that I could tuck some of the leaves underneath.

Hi there, my card was made using stamps from the Snowflake Flourish themeplate.  I stamped and heat embossed the large bauble twice onto white card using red sparkle embossing powder, then cut them out.  The card base was made by folding an A4 sheet of red card in half and then randomly stamping and heat embossing  a snowflake stamp from the same themeplate all over it.  I  used white detail embossing powder for the snowflake stamp.  The design in the snowflake stamp co-ordinates perfectly with the design on the bauble stamp. The mats are just layers of green and white card with the sentiment heat embossed in white onto the top green mat.  I fnished off the card by tying some very narrow red ribbon around the necks of the baubles then mounting them onto the card using foam pads.  Sadly no matter how I tried I couldn't get my camera to catch the twinkle from the embossing on the baubles.  Hope you all have fun playing along in the challenge this week.

You can take part in this challenge yourself and there are Elusive Images prizes to be won!  To find out how to play along, visit the Play Date Cafe.
