Mackintosh ladies.......by Miranda

Hello crafty people,

Today I have two cards showing the "Mackintosh ladies' in all their beauty.  The first one is made on a distress ink background  using some salt. I've embossed the panel and roses with Wow Black glint en coloured with water based markers.Added some gemstones..... The sentiment is from the 'Amazing birthday'sheet.

The 2nd one is my favorite and I was inspired by one of the artworks of the wife of Rennie Mackintosh which was an artist too. I will show that too so you can see my source of inspiration......

original artwork of Margaret  Macdonald Mackintosh

I have masked the lady( Mackintosh beauty sheet) and stamped two of the panels(Mackintosh windows) on each side and extended the lines so she had a nice matching background. I've stamped on Basic Grey paper and coloured with colour pencils. I've layered her on a gold metallic embossed background and I've stamped the roses on the card behind with Versamark and added metallics Pan Pastel.  I've embossed the die cut flower too and added also some Pan Pastel.

If you want to see another two of my 'Mackintosh' creations, please take a look on my blog
It was fun playing with this beauty! Hope I have inspired you too,
thanks for visiting and till next time!

  1. Wow Miranda, what beautiful and inspiring work. I love your salt background on the first and the more vibrant colours. So pretty and the black embossing is perfect. The secong inspired by Margaret MacDonald is so lovely. I love the fresh colour palette you have chosen for your design and the touches of metallic colours with the embossing and pan pastels. The way you have extended the stamping is very clever. Lots of inspiration here. Have a good day, Elaine x

  8. Well, it's all your fault!!! I had decided I really didn't need any more stamps and then today you show these and I've *had* to order them! I'm spending my birthday money so that's OK isn't it? Joanna Mackintosh

  11. omg! How do you guys do it? these creations are getting better and better. Both of these are stunning. Just when I think I've seen the best one another one comes along and I have to admit as beautiful and elegant as the second one is, for me, it is the DI background that makes me love the first, you can't make a bad background with those colours and some coarse salt, thank you for sharing xx

  13. Two very different yet equally engaging projects. It's hard to choose a favourite from these two. Your bold colours in the first contrast beautifully with the subdued colours in the second. I love the salt effect in the first & how the bold geometric design stands out with it as a background - your use of the same colour palette for the image is quite something for I can even see the orange hints in your background.
As for the second - the way you have used the inspirational piece as a springboard for creating a background for the lady whilst seamlessly blending the two is quite remarkable. Your copper embossing accompanied by the pearl encrusted floral spray echoes the beaded detail of the image plus the coppery warm tones of your pencil shading. A very unusual design.

  17. Love the subtleness of the second card. It is really very beautiful. The stamps are lovely and I am so pleased with the results I am getting. Have had the thought of doing a candle with one of the designs, here's hoping I can do it well as I think it could be stunning! Love Helen
