A touch of Orange (posted by Judith)

Hello everyone, I have a couple of samples for you today using the Briar Rose Butterfly/Harebell Butterfly stamp sets.

My first card was created by masking the top and bottom of the card, and then colouring the middle of the card with Distress Inks. I stamped the flower sprig across the bottom of the inked area before I removed the paper masks. I stamped two butterflies onto sparkly acetate, and added some coloured vellum behind them. Finally, I added a sentiment from the Amazing Birthday stamp set in the top corner of the card.
My second card was created by stamping the Big Bold Background Leafy Trails stamp onto a piece of kraft card with green ink. I cut a small rectangle of kraft card, and stamped the rosehip image using the same ink. I coloured the images with pencils, and edged the pieces of card with Distress Inks. I also decoupaged the butterfly. I matted the layers with dark green card, and added a piece of orange ribbon to finish.

This little card would be useful for lots of different occasions.

Thanks for stopping by, Judith xx

  4. I always like the masking technique to give a band of colour across the card. I'd love to see the butterflies in real life.

  10. Two gorgeous cards Judith. Beautiful blending on the first, so vibrant with great impact. Super idea to use the butterflies on the glittered acetate. Love the way you have used the background stamp with delicate pencil colouring and it matches a treat with your focal panel. Love the pop of the orange ribbon too. Elaine xxx

  13. Both of these are delightful Judith. In your first it's the sense of movement created with your blending & then accentuated by the flower sprigs & your butterflies flying in different directions. I'd imagine the sparkly acetate & vellum are quite striking & I love the foil that the two white segments provide for the bright colours. Your second is a lovely idea with the way that the rose hip leaf is echoed by that BBB Leafy Trails. Your rose hips looks gorgeous & I do love the combination of orange & green that you have used - especially with your orange inked edges.

  14. I love both of these cards. The first has that contrast between the bold bright strip with the flower sprig stamping and the white of the card, and the two really pretty glittery butterflies, whilst the second is so pretty with the muted colours and the harmony between the leafy trail bold background, and then the main image of rosehips with the touches of orange on the little berries, the hips and the lovely bright orange ribbon and also the touches of orange around the edge of the card and main image and even little bits on the yellow and brown butterfly. x
