Harlequin Friends (by Debbie)

A bit of an unusual title because my projects are made with the help of my friends.

I bought this small canvas a few years ago and it's sat in a box neglected. I wanted to show how the Harlequin stamp from Harlequin Fragments is perfect for mixed media, the canvas was perfect.
I had been very generously given a paper napkin by Glenda, a set of paper bird cages from Lesley and some hessian flowers from a friend Katy.

The canvas already had a gesso coat and I stamped the Harlequin with Archival Cornflower Blue.
I didn't use an acrylic block as the canvas is flexible and it gives a better image when stamped.
I split the tissue and glued the patterned layer onto the canvas. When dry, I distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink and stamped the word 'Love' from Artistic Affirmations
The little bird cage was coloured and triple embossed with clear powder.
I finished by adding the ribbon, flowers, pearls and lace.

Here are a couple of tags using the Harlequin stamp on large tags I cut that will go into a tag book I'm making, I'll post photos when it's finished.

Judith inspired me to use the Remembrance Poppies for this tag as they are her favourite flowers.

Thank you for visiting
Debbie

  8. The way your bird cage is shaped & matches the Archival Cornflower Blue stamping is lovely & I particularly like the way your eye is drawn to the 'Post Card' wording below it. The ribbon & lace with the burlap flower add a lovely sense of decadent texture. Your two tags illustrate how differently the Harlequin fragment can look - bold & bright or soft & subdued, your use of the individual flower heads on the latter is a wonderful touch.

  11. The canvas and the tags are all beautiful, but I particularly like the tag with the sunflowers on, and I adore the lilac with the black and orange, the other tag is lovely too so soft and ethereal colours in the background, and the pretty pink of the poppies. The canvas is an amalgamation of all sorts of things which work together perfectly and I particularly like the use of the single layer of a napkin which gives this such a lovely look. x
