Autumn colours; my favourites (by Maria)

Hey everyone, do you feel Autumn too? Yes we can't deny Winter is coming closer, but first we can enjoy those wonderful Autumn colours.
As you can see I made two cards with the fantastic Autumn colours for you, I hope you like them!
These cards I made with my favourite dylusions inks (yes again!) To create the background I took some smooth white paper and sprayed some water on it. I took some yellow ink and sprayed it in the middle, then some orange which I tried to spray just under my yellow then I took some red and sprayed around the corners with it. I stamped the flower in the middle of the card. I took a very small brush and some bleach to remove the colour from the leaves. I dried the paper with my heat tool. On another piece of white paper, I sprayed some dark orange and some red, and let it dry. Here I've stamped the flower a second time, cut it out and placed it on the original image, so that I get a beautiful red poppy, the butterflies I did in the same way but instead of red I used some blue ink. The lighter blue I created by using a white gelly pen.

This one was very fun to create! My background was created with one of the leaves of the Autumn Poppy stamp set. I used some watercolour pens in Autumn colours and used them as ink for my background.  I inked my stamps with the watercolour pens, and stamped a lot of images.  I then sprayed a tiny bit of water all over the card so that the colours of the leaves ran into each other.  I stamped the fantastic  pumpkin plant three times by using the masking technique. On another page I sprayed some dylusions inks (oranges, yellows, and red ), sprayed some water on it and let the colours run into each other.  I stamped the Pumpkins three times again on this coloured paper, then of course I had to cut out all of the pumpkins and stick them on onto the card. It was a big job, but I think the result looks fantastic, doesn't it?

I hope I have inspired you and have a lot of fun with this fantastic Autumn Poppy stamp set!

Have  a great Autumn time!

  1. Couldn't make up my mind if they were pumpkins or ' Chinese lanterns' but they look gorgeous :-)

  2. Two great cards Maria. I love the vibrant background on the first card and the great contrasting butterflies. I really love your second card. The background is really lovely with the soft watery leaf effect. The "pumpkins" (I wondered if they are Chinese lanterns too?) are gorgeous and well worth all that cutting out. What a lovely celebration of Autumn. Elaine x

  3. Hello Maria!

I love the Poppies and the backgrounds make it so alive ..the Turquoise of the Butterfly is eye catching too!

thank you for showing your work!
    Love Marg

  4. Großartig, Maria...
besonders die Lampionblumen-Karte ist mein Favorit.
Diese Blumen sind ein Traum, ich habe sie selbst im Garten.
Sie leuchten so herrlich orange :-)

  5. These are beautiful, I especially like the first one which is so vibrant.

  6. Love the vibrancy of the first card and like the pumpkins falling over the edge in the second one

  7. I love autumn colours too, your cards are both pretty

  8. Wow! These are both so vibrant and pretty. Your colour combinations work beautifully and the poppies and the chinese lanterns suit this interpretation perfectly. That washy stamped background is a lovely contrast and doesn't detract from the lovely topper. That butterfly is gorgeous too. x

  9. Maria these are truly beautiful. Love the vibrant colors on the first card and the design on the second one with the multiple stamping of the chinese lanterns. Inspiring as always.
    Hugs, Flo x

  10. Beautiful colours, and your background is very well done - I'll have to try that too. The poppys indeed really pop, great balance of colours on both cards.
I love the effect the background on the second card makes - like more plants further away but blurred because they are out of focus.
    Thanks for sharing :)

  11. Wow, zo mooi hoe je diepte krijgt door ze uit te knippen en op te plakken! Leuk ook hoe de pompoenen over het kader gaan! En die kleuren; die zijn weer super mooi! Groetjes, Gerrina

  12. Two gorgeous Autumnal cards! Beautiful colours, great techniques :) x

  13. Wow... Two fabulous cards!!! Coco x
