Fifteen Minute Cards

Hello everyone, it's time for our second compilation of quick cards and projects brought to you from the Design Team this month. We have another bundle of inspirational ideas to share with you that can be made in a flash, and still produce stylish and elegant projects, all using fabulous Chocolate Baroque stamps.

We hope that you enjoy this month's selection.

Asha has created a card using one of our lovely Fluttering Hearts images, and combined this with a quick stencil background:
Rachel has created two lovely Christmas cards, stamping her images, then masking them, and adding a background strip using Distress Inks:

Anne has made two cards to share with you; the first incorporates stamps from the Tall Trees and Words of Wisdom stamp set. The background was created by spritzing and splattering with lime green and bright pink ink sprays. She then quickly stamped the trees with lime and dark green ink. The sentiments were stamped in dark green ink. She used green alcohol marker to frame the image before gluing to the card and added faux stitching with a fine-tipped pen. Finally she added PVA pearls and glitter glue for her usual sparkle:

For her second card, she has chosen a pretty image from the Wild Meadow stamp set, and a sentiment from the Mackintosh Sentiments stamp set.  She stamped the images onto an ink spritzed background and heat embossed using white embossing powder.

Corine has provided us with another delightful Christmas card, what's not to love about this CAS design, using the elegant reindeer from the Damask Reindeer stamp set?

Claire has used the same basic technique for each her cards, adding ink to an acrylic block with gridlines to create the background, but chosen a variety of colours and images to create a stunning range of cards:
She has added hand drawn borders to each of the images, avoiding the need to mat and layer the backgrounds.
The textured acrylic block has created a pattern on the background, doing two jobs at the same time.
Brenda has created a selection of cards for us; the first was created by masking the edges of a square piece of card and using Distress Ink to repeat stamp inside the mask. She used two stamps from the Butterfly Flourish Swirls stamp set to create the background. The sentiment is computer generated.

For her second card, she stamped the willow from the Spring Foliage stamp set using three colours of Distress Ink, and matted the images onto co-ordinating card. She added a computer generated sentiment.

For her final card, she die cut a heart, and stamped sentiments from the Words of Inspiration and Pretty Poppies stamp sets onto the heart. She fixed some black and white ribbon across the botttom of a white card blank and placed the heart over the top.

Zoe has created some Christmas tags, using coloured embossing powder to create variety in the designs. These would be great for colour co-ordinating with your wrapping paper:
Finally we have an elegant card from Lesley, who created the card by stamping the image onto the card with Versamark, and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder. She stamped the sentiment with Black Archival Ink, and coloured the lettering using pencil crayon. To finish, she added sticky backed gems for baubles:

We will be back next month with more quick projects for you, but in the meantime, do keep visiting the blog for a daily dose of inspiration from the Design Team girls. Thanks for stopping by,

  4. Colour the fence with Distress Paint - Walnut Stain
  5. Put some Distress Paint - Fired Brick and Mowed Lawn on both sides of the bottom of the postbox
  6. Add Soft Form Relief Paste - Pearl to create the snowflakes using a stencil, the snow on the fence, on the postbox and on the ground using a spatula
  7. Colour the wooden frame of the blackboard  with Distress Paint - Black Soot, then use a gold metallic acrylic to give an antique look to the frame.
  8. Punch some holly leaves and colour them with gold metallic acrylic and with Distress Paint - Mowed Lawn and glue the leaves as decoration
  9. Finish the project adding a golden ribbon and some Stickles - Star Dust on the snow and on the leaves

Floral Notes With Love card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good morning. Today I am sharing a quick card using the lovely new Floral Notes stamp set. There are so many gorgeous images in this set.

Materials:
  • Floral Notes and Mackintosh Sentiments stamp sets
  • A6 scalloped card blank (red), white stamping card and a strip of copy paper
  • Versafine inkpad (Onyx Black)
  • Pencil and watercolour paint (red)
  • Alcohol marker and fine tipped pens (black)
  • Sparkle brush pen (clear)
How to make it:
  1. Trim the stamping card to fit the card front. Cut a strip of copy paper and lay onto the card front (mask). Stamp the images in black. Stamp again onto spare card and cut out one of the flower heads.
  2. Using the fine tipped pen draw the border and fill in any little gaps in the stamping (i.e. so that they join up with the border). Colour the lower edge of the border with pencil.
  3. Colour the flower head with watercolour. Curl the petals slightly and glue to the card.
  4. Brush over the flower petals with sparkle pen. Difficult to see in the photo but it just gives a little lift to the design.
  5. Outline the topper with alcohol pen and glue to the card front.

Bird on Pie (by Asha)

Good morning, friends. Christmas is just around the corner. Oh yes it is! Tomorrow is Advent Sunday and what better excuse to share a festive make with you featuring the brand new Mr Robin stamp.

I know Mr Robin is a red breasted chap but I decided to give him a red coat this Christmas instead. So here he is, proudly perched on a mince pie. I coloured him him alcohol markers and used texture paste to add wintery interest to the background. And don't forget lashings of glitter and shine... it is Christmas after all!

I have more pictures and details of tools and products over at my blog. Thank you for stopping by today and come back soon for more amazing creations by the rest of the Design Team.

Beijinhos,
Asha

holly script

A very easy card from me this time, using one of the older sets, holly script.
I had a play with some old mica powders and the soft form relief paste this time. I dusted the stamp with red and green mica powders on the berries and leaves before covering it with the silver relief paste and leaving it to set.
Once dry, I carefully peeled it off and mounted it onto a piece of black card, then onto a 15x15cm white card blank. I was pleased that the mica powders are firmly held by the the paste, and don't rub off.

Everyone has been having fun this month, so keep checking to see what goodies are coming up

Christmas Magic (by Penny)

Hello everyone, today sees the last of our visits from Guest Design Team member Penny Butler this month. She has designed a card using the first stamps that she ever bought from Chocolate Baroque. Can you remember which set you first bought? If you leave a comment for Penny, be sure to mention your first set of Chocolate Baroque stamps as well....

Penny writes:

Hello there, I've got a Christmas card for you today. I love the Nordic colours of red, blue and white on kraft card, and the tree stamps from the Christmas Flourish stamp set are perfect for a tag card. I blended red, blue and green Distress Inks onto white card for the background panel. I faux bleached a Holly flourish stamp randomly over the panel and added some words. I blended green Distress Ink around the edges, coloured another panel in red as a border, and matted and layered them.

I stamped and embossed the corner flourish image in white onto kraft card, then atached the background panel. I stamped the trees onto another piece of kraft card and used red, white and blue embossing powders. I cut the card into three tags with a tree on each, and edged each tag with green ink, punched holes at the top, and threaded twine through. I added a sentiment to complete this festive card.

Thank you for stopping by :)

Penny will be back next year with more projects to share with us. In the meantime, you can catch up with her over on her blog

Mr Robin (posted by Claire)

Good morning, Claire here with a card featuring one of the new stamps called Mr Robin, I adore robins and mince pies so this stamp is going to be one of my all time favourites.

I stamped the image and coloured it with Lyra Polycolour Pencils. I inked around the image using distress inks (Pine Needles and Festive Berries) and then added a little distressing with Gathered Twigs. I stamped and embossed a holly border using one of the little stamps from Family Christmas with versamark ink and used a chunky embossing powder, and then added a sprinkle of gold frantage powder. I stamped the sentiment and added a bow topped with a little button and some twine to finish the card.

Thanks for visiting today.

Krafty Mr Robin (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I have a quick Christmas card to share with you today, using one of the new single Christmas stamps, Mr Robin.

I stamped and embossed the image onto a piece of kraft card using white embossing powder, and painted it using Brushos and a waterbrush. I edged the card with Peeled Paint Distress Ink.

I had the background piece of card left over from another project, already coloured with Brushos, and I simply stamped the holly image from the Holly Script stamp set over the background using the same colour Distress Ink as before.

I attached some red ribbon to the background before assembling the card, and used some green card as a base layer.

Thanks for stopping by, Judith xx

Ornaments in Black and Gold by Zoe

Good morning Lovelies, I'm back with my second post this month with some more ornaments for the Winter/Christmas theme for Chocolate Baroque.

I'm currently in Morocco having a nice sunny holiday having just moved our darling little foster boy onto adoption,( I mentioned in my last post about it) we will be home for a week and half, then fly out to Canada for 3 glorious weeks with our darling daughter for Christmas, I'm so excited, it's been over a year and a half since we were there seeing her last.

It's been a sad time as it always is seeing these little darlings Flourish with our care and saying goodbye, but it's also a wonderful thing knowing that we have been instrumental in creating a lovely little family with hopefully a well adjusted little one? We get to visit him in his new home before we go to Canada.

So here are my projects.

I used some MDF shapes I've had lying around in my stash for years, I painted them with some gold glittery paint, stamped using Onyx Black Versafine inkpad and heat embossed using a black embossing powder. I used elements from Snowflake Flourish set for the plaque and the rags I've used Harlequin Christmas

I hope you like my decorations and I've inspired you to have a go? Thank you so much for visiting, have a wonderful day xx Zoe xx

Say Thank You With Flowers (by Julie)

Hello and welcome. Today I have four little notelets that I have created using the really pretty Floral Notes set. They are perfect little cards to send as a thank you for all the Christmas presents we will all hopefully, soon be receiving...

I started by folding 4 little A6 card blanks and then cutting a card topper from Kraft card for each of the 4 cards.

There are no tricky stamping techniques used in these cards. I just simply inked up the images with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and stamped onto the Kraft card.

The flowers have been coloured with Polychromos pencils and I used a white paint pen for the highlights and dots, along with a few dabs of Crystal Stickles for a touch of sparkle.

The Thank You sentiment was inked with Picket Fence Distress paint and I used a Picket Fence Distress crayon to give the background a softer feel. I just scribbled the crayon around the designs and then rubbed over with a baby wipe to blend the crayon into the Kraft card.

Thanks for taking a look and please call again very soon.

Light and colors by Dominike

Hello
All we need is love. Yes, love. And Light. The lights of knowledge so useful in our disturbed world.

Today we celebrate light,

I would like to suggest for you, these cards. Not so difficult to realise but you have to work with a little skill. Alcohol inks dry very quickly and mix easily.

You stamp the sparking trees stamps on paper and paint on rhodoïd. To attach paper and rhodoïd, I used brads.
At the end, you stick on your card.

I wish you a great day.
Kind regards.

A bientôt.

Xmas Robin card (by Magda) - Mr Robin Single Rubber stamp

I think it is useful to have a pocket money card always ready.
This project is a simple way to fold a cardstock and as decoration, I used the new Mr Robin Single Rubber Stamp.

  1. Cut a white A4 cardstock 29.5cms x 17cms
  2. Stamp Mr Robin Single Rubber Stamp with Versafine Onyx Black on the upper middle part on the right of the cardstock
  3. Stamp Mr. Robin again on a piece of paper, cut the outline and mask the stamped image of point 2
  4. Colour the white cardstock with Distress Paint salty ocean  and let it dry
  5. Put some drops of DecoArt Antiquing Cream - Titanium White on the salty ocean background and move the cream with a brush irregularly over the surface and let it dry
  6. Put randomly less drops of DecoArt Antiquing Cream - Patina Green  on the white layer and move the cream with the brush as before
  7. Remove the mask and colour Robin, the mince pie and the holly with Distress Ink Pad
  8. Colour here and there with the brush using Stickles gold to give a nice light all over the cardstock
  9. Fold the bottom of the cardstock in order to have a pocket of 5cms and glue the edges.
  10. Fold the in the middle the project, and punch a hole on the right for the red ribbon
  11. Prepare a mat of 10.5cms x 12cms and repeat points 4, 5 and 6
  12. Cut a white card 9.5cms x 11.5cms
  13. Stamp with Versafine Onyx Black only the holly of the Mr Robin Single Rubber Stamp and colour it as before at point 7
  14. Glue the card on the mat and put some Stickles gold on it
  15. Stamp on a white cardstock "Merry Christmas" sentiment of Fat Robin Rubber Stamp, and glue it on the folded part .

I hope I have inspired you with my second project for this month.

Shimmering Poppies (by Penny)

Hello everyone, today sees the second of our posts this month from Penny Butler, our newest Guest Design Team member. This week, she has created a lovely poppy themed card for you.

Penny writes:

Hi there, this is my second visit here and I've got a Poppy card for you today, featuring stamps from the Gothic Fragments and Poppy Meadow stamp sets, using the caught in crystal technique.

I started with a piece of white card and stamped the window slightly off centre. I masked the image and blended Distress Inks all over the panel. I faux bleached a stone wall effect on the background, making a stencil by die cutting a piece of scrap card and sponging water through it. I added some shadows by stippling grey ink through the stencil. I then stamped some grasses along the bottom of the panel. After removing the mask, I coloured the window image with water-based pens used as watercolours. I then stamped a sentiment using black ink.

I stamped and embossed the poppies onto acetate in black and turned the acetate over. I coloured the image with alcohol markers. I applied floor polish with some glitter added and then placed some crumpled tissue paper on top. When the polish had dried, I cut around the image, and attached it to the panel. I matted the panel onto some black card that I had embossed and gilded with metallic wax, and then attached this to a card blank. I finished the card with some red ribbon and a bow.

I hope that you've enjoyed this post, thank you for popping in :)

Penny will be back next week with her final project of the month, using the first set of stamps that she ever bought from Chocolate Baroque.

Fifteen Minute Cards

Hello everyone, today we are sharing more of our fifteen minute makes with you. Twice a month, the Design Team put together a compilation of cards and projects that have taken no more than fiteen minutes to complete. These cards, tags, ATCs, etc., may be simple CAS designs, or just quick and easy to complete, but they all use wonderful Chocolate Baroque stamps and show that you can create fabulous projects in a very short space of time.

If you are a beginner stamper, just starting on your creative journey, or a more experienced crafter, looking for a card that could be made in batches for a speedy Christmas card, for example, then we have lots of ideas in these blog posts. You can reach the Design Team members' blogs for further explanations of their projects by simply clicking on their names as you scroll through this blog post. So, enjoy what we have to share with you, and try out some of the ideas for yourselves.

Corine's beautiful Cristmas card incorporates crisp stamping in monochrome blues:
I have created two cards using a gelli plate and Distress Inks for the backgrounds. On the first card, I simply stamped the image and sentiment directly onto the background, adding some colour with pencils for detail.

For the second card, I stamped the image and sentiment onto die cut ovals, used the same colour Distress Ink to add some shading, and again added some colouring with pencils.

Anne has created two lovely Christmas cards for us using one of our newest individual Christmas stamps. She has used glittery embossing powder on black card for a dramatic effect. She dissolved some pastel pigment in water and painted over the scene, and added a little colour onto the trees with glitter pens. She spritzed the scene with white opaque spray to create a snow effect and added mica spray for extra shimmer. She added a peel off greeting and drew a border with a metallic pen. Once she had added the background to her card, she drew a border using a black pen.

Annes's beautiful Nature inspired card uses the reed border from the Owl Edges stamp set and the sentiment from the Words of Inspiration stamp set. She used ink sprays to colour the background and sparkling embossing powder for the reeds.

Brenda has created a wonderful array of cards for us again this time, showcasing the stamps in a range of styles and techniques. For her first card, she used a background from her stash, which she had created using a marbling technique with shaving foam. These backgrounds always produce such beautiful results, and they are fun to try at the same time!
She stamped the butterfly image from the Tangled Garden stamp set onto a spare piece of card, cut it out and coloured it with the same colour inks that she had used for the background. She then matted the butterfly onto a piece of embossed white card, and then black card before adding it to her marbled background.

For her second card, she stamped the bunny image from the Glorious Spring stamp set using Archival Ink, and then used a natural sea sponge and Distress Inks to create a mottled background.

Using a selection of water based markers, Brenda inked and spritzed with water before stamping one of the images from the Indian Textiles stamp set across the bottom of her card. Using the same markers, she stamped across the top using and image from the Decorative Edges stamp set, and finally added a sentiment from the Pretty Poppies stamp set.

For her final card, she started by repeat stamping the bluebells from the Spring Foliage stamp set using water based markers to ink up the stamp. She stamped a sentiment from the Words of Inspiration stamp set, used a circle mask, and a torn piece of paper with Pan Pastels to create the sky. Finally, she drew some birds.

We have two lovely clean and simple Christmas cards from Lesley. For her first card, she stamped the image onto a die cut shape using Versamark and heat embossed using sparkly embossing powder. She coloured selected areas using watercolour metallic paints. She dusted around the edges using Pine Needles Distress Ink, and attached the die cut to the card base. She stamped a sentiment and die cut using a smaller die cut shape. She added a ribbon and attached the sentiment using 3D foam pads.

To create her second card, she stamped the image onto a die cut using Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and lightly dragged out some of the ink with a waterbrush. She added a little pale grey shading around the image with watercolour. She inked the edges of the shape with Vintage Photo Distress Ink using Cut 'n' Dry foam. She stamped the sentiment using Black Archival Ink and then adhered the main image to the card base with 3D foam.

Dominike has created a pretty pink floral card for us, using a bold flower image, repeat stamped across the card.

Magda's floral card uses the lovely Flora Musica stamp, set against a water splattered Distress Ink background.

Finally we have a lovely set of Christmas tags from Zoe, using some of our Christmas script images. These are really lovely tags, and would mke your gifts stand out as something special. Minimal colouring of the images is all that is required to complete these tags.

We hope that you have enjoyed our selection of projects and we will be back later in the month with more projects to share with you. In the meantime, do keep visiting the blog for a daily dose of inspiration from the Design Team girls.

Thanks for stopping by,
