Autumn (By Marga)

Hello everyone. Here I am again with a card made for one of the shows Lesley presented on Hochanda. I also love to watch the shows here in the Netherlands. So glad that we can see them too.

The background for this card is made with Distress Ink and the image is also coloured with Distress Ink. I also used the stencil Seasonal Journey on this card. And for some details a Gelli pen.

Stamp I used: Autumn Edges.

Autumn Edges (by Julie)

Hello lovely people, Julie here. I have a cute little tag and card idea to show you today and they are both made with the very versatile Autumn Edges set.

I created the background of the tag by scribbling Distress crayons onto my stamp block, spritzing with water and then picking the colour up with a sponge, before splodging all over the tag. Heat dry to set and then stamp the row of leaves all over the background with a dye based ink. I stamped the trees so the centre one was captured onto a heart die cut and coloured with Distress inks. The tag was finished off with some die cut leaves that I spritzed with some shimmer mists and added string, suede cord and beads for decoration.

I decided to stamp the rows of leaves downwards this time and as before used a dye based inkpad. The background is a selection of Distress inks and the Mushrooms have been water-coloured with brush-markers with added glitter and white pen highlights. To make them stand out from the background I went around the edges with a white Distress Crayon. Pale grey brush marker was also added around the leaves to create a shadow so they to didn't disappear into the background.
The finished design was mounted onto a plum coloured card and a sentiment from the rather lovely Artistic Expressions was added.

Thank you for stopping by. Please be sure to call back very soon to see some more Design Team inspiration.

autumn medley

I used the autumn medley stamp, partly because I like it and also because I could find it! (am trying to declutter my craft space, which only seems to create an even worse mess - hopefully only temporary).
My first was an experiment that didn't quite work, stamping and masking the lady then using a gelli plate to create the background - I was trying to get a leafy image using actual leaves, works fine with sponges and inks , but not with a gelli plate and paints. Still, it was an interesting mottled effect, so I used it! The lady was coloured with watercolour pencils, timmed down, matted onto a piece of kraft card that had been embossed with a woodgrain folder and sponged with brown and green inks, Final narrow mat of gold card, base card is A5 kraft card.
Second card I went for a very muted colour scheme, using shades of brown and green pencils. It ended up a little too muted, so Ioverpainted with red and yellow inks using a waterbrush, then highlighted some of the leaves with glossy accents.
Base card is A5 kraft again, with a single gold mat. The 'ribbon' strip down the edge was yellow card randomly stamped with the leaves from the autumn edges set in orange, green and brown, then sponged over with brown ink to tone the yellow down.Cut a thin strip off and added gold card mat.

The tag used up some of the stamping errors, where I managed to smear some of the ink - no way could I hide them, so cut the lady down to tag size.
I coloured leaves with pencils, then fussycut them out. Two sets were glued over the stamped images, the rest just dotted round.
To be honest, this one is my favourite so far.

Birthday Calendar Part Three (by Gerrina)

Hello everyone, it is time for Gerrina's final visit to the Design Team Blog this month. She has created some more beautiful pages for her Birthday Calendar project.

Gerrina writes:

It is already the last of my Guest Design Team posts at Chocolate Baroque this month, and of couse I made some more months for the Birthday Calendar. You can find the frame and first two months here, the other four months that I made here. Today four new months:

How to:
On the card I had already cleaned this stencil, and then I sponged it again with a round blending tool in just a few places. The lines are made with the same tool and the edge of the stencil. The edges are sponged lightly with the same colour. Then I stamped the flowers with black ink and coloured them with Distress Ink and water based markers. I sponged the two floral sections with blue Distress Ink.

Used Materials:
Stamps: Spring is in the Air
Stencil: Colourbox
Inkspads: Versafine Onyx Black, Distress Inks: Twisted Citron, Tumbled Glass, Seedless Preserves, Brushed Corduroy, Cracled Pistachio
Other: Postcard with some cleaning from the stencil, blending tool, water brush, water based markers.

How to:
Stamp the tulips until you feel there are enough with help from two masks. Colour the flowers. Draw stripes with a black aquarel pencil and a liner and go over the lines with a water brush. Do the same on the month card.

Used materials:
Stamps: Spring is in the Air
Inkpads: Versafine Onyx Black
Other: Postcards, coloured pencils, liner, black aquarel pencil, water brush

How to:
Stamp the rose lady with black ink on a postcard. Go over the lines with a black aquarel pencil and go over the lines with a waterbrush to spread the grey into the image. Stamp the roses in four colours onto another postcard. Sponge the card, and glue the lady on top of it.

Used materials:
Stamps: Mackintosh Beauty
Inkpads: Versafine Onyx Black, Memento: Rhubard Stalk, Lady Bug, Rose Bud, and Grape Jelly, Distress Ink Spun Sugar
Other 2X Postcards, black aquarel pencil, water brush, blending tool

How to:
Draw three lines with a pencil on a postcard, and add some water. Sprinkle each line with a different colour Brusho. Splatter some water on the top of the card and sprinkle some yellow Brusho there. Let the card dry completely before stamping the trees with black ink. Draw a line with a fine black pencil and put some leaves and triangles on the line.

Used materials:
Stamps: Autumn Edges
Inkpads: Versafine Onyx Black
Others: Postcard, pencil, Brushos: Turquoise, Burnt Sienna, Lime Green, Yellow Ochre, black finetip writer

Now my Birthday Calendar is almost finished! Here is a photo of my project up to now:

Only two calendar month pages to go and my birthday calendar can be hung and used. Those two will follow soon on my blog: Gerrina's Creatieve Wereld!

Guest Post - Autumn Colours by Gerrina Poncin

Today is the third of Gerrina's project and this week she has given us a beautiful touch of Autumn. Here first card uses Autumn Edges, whilst her second features the ever popular Nature Table. Enjoy.

I am back with some work I made for my last Guest Designer team post this month. Of course I could not resist to make some cards with the beautiful autumn stamps, now Autumn is slowly getting closer:  Here is the first

Start by stamping the mushrooms and masking them. Then some more masking so you have only that piece from the card that you want to sponge. Start sponging on the bottom and work your way up with the colours of your choice. I used five colours. Remove the mask from the mushrooms and colour them with a waterpencil and Distress Inks.

On this one I stamped the big chestnuts, masked them and stamped the little ones and masked them also. I love backgrounds, so I used one of the beautiful fragments from the Lace Fragments set. On top of that background I stamped the branches with the skeleton leaves. All what is left to do next is remove the masks and colour it all.

In a few months you can see more work that I made at the Chocolate Baroque blog! In the meanwhile I am sure you will come across more of their stamps on my work...
Thanks for looking!

Gerrina

A huge thank from us Gerrina for giving us three such diverse and interesting projects, we look forward to seeing you here again in a few months times.  And of course you can see more of her work on her blog.

Don't forget to drop by tomorrow when there will be a fabulous project from one of our Design Team using the new October stamps.

Autumn Edges in Cool Colours (by Shirley)

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.    Time is flying as here we are at the end of November already.

I have a design to show today using the new fabulous Autumn Edges stamp set.  As we are getting to the end of Fall Season and the hot colours have left, I've used cool colours for this card.

The center background was created with Dylusion Spray inks -  I spritz water after spraying the inks, added a little sea salt and let it dry (which creates the watermarks if you are not familiar with this easy technique).

I shook the salt off and then stamped the Owl from November Fairy and part of the leaf edge to the top and bottom with Cobalt Archival ink.    Using a little bleach and brush (do not use synthetic brushes with bleach) I removed the colour inside the leaves and around the owl.  This technique gives a bit of a batik look.  I added a little colour back onto the leaves using Distress Inks on my craft mat with a brush and water.

The light blue background is coloured cardstock.  I stamped part of the tree and solid leaf edge with Cobalt Archival ink.   The leaf die cuts were coloured with Distress Inks after embossing the back with a stylus.

Thanks for your visit and have a great day,
Shirleyx

A couple of Autumn projects (posted by Claire)

Good morning, Claire here with a couple of quick projects. This time of year is so hectic there isn't always time for elaborate projects. The first is a card made using Autumn Edges. I'm really trying to come up with some fairly flat designs that can be posted cheaply, hopefully this one will fit the bill.

I'd seen a few images around blogland that had been stamped and embossed with white before being coloured and decided to give this technique a try. I coloured the mushrooms with Graph'It markers and then crated a background with PanPastels. The fairy is from the August Fairy set, again stamped with versamark and embossed with white embossing powder. The sentiment is from Fairyland words, this time I stamped with a Memento inkpad in Teal Zeal.

For my second project I've covered a little notebook to be used for jotting down recipes. I began by cutting a strip of red card slighly wider than the book. Using the book as a guide I scored the card to create a spine and left about an inch of card to overlap the back of the book.

Next I cut white card slightly smaller and stamped the images and 'Recipes' from Mellow Fruitfulness in Memento Tuxedo black ink. I coloured the images with my Graph'It markers and distressed the edges with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink

Hope you like these two quick projects, we're all getting in the mood for some steampunk fun with the gorgeous new stamps! See you soon

A Burst of Colour by Doreen

Hello to you all, I am back again sharing another sample made from the new stamps that have just been released for November .

I have used three of the stamps from the Autumn Edges sheet for this card.
I started by making my background blending yellow and red Panpastels onto some textured card .

The toadstools have been white embossed with Versamark and I stamped the trees with brown Archival ink.

Fruitful Birthday (by Asha)

Good morning, friends! Today I want to share with you a card project featuring the cherries from the new Mellow Fruitfulness A5 sheet. These colours are my current favourite combo of warm orange and yellow with a sprinkling of olive green and a pop of red. Leaves from last month's Autumn Poppy A4 sheet is making a guest appearance too, stamped in the background. I've fussy cut the leafy border from the new Autumn Edges A5 sheet and finished the project with a greeting  from the Birthday Words A5 set.

Here's a closer look at the card. The background is a blend of various Distress Inks and I used alcohol markers to colours the images. Check out the deliciously ripe gloss of the cherries!  And to make sure you don't miss it, I've fussy cut the image and mounted it on foam tape. Details on how I created this card will be posted on my blog.

So there you have it - a warm and mellow card... perfect for these cold November days. Don't forget to swing by the DT blog regularly for more card ideas by my team-mates. Happy crafting!

Beijinhos,
Asha

Falling Leaves (posted by Judith)

Hello everyone, my projects today show how well the various stamp sets from Chocolate Baroque mix together. I have chosen to use stamps from the Nature Table stamp set alongside the Autumn Edges stamp set on my first card.

I began by stamping the mushroom border and a mushroom cluster from the Nature Table stamp set along the bottom of the card. I used a permanent black pen to add a few lines to join them together. I masked the images before stamping the mushrooms on a tree twice on the left hand side of the page. I drew a continuation of the tree to the top of the page, and again masked all of these images.

I coloured the background with Brushos, using a combination of yellow and orange, with a hint of violet, until I was happy with the overall colour. I dried the background with my heat gun, and then added foliage stamping along the edges and behind the mushrooms, using various shades of archival inks. I used bleach to remove the colour from some of the foliage, and then proceeded to colour all of the images with watercolour pencils. I also coloured the foreground with watercolour pencils.

I stamped lots of small leaves onto scraps of paper, and stuck these onto the card, some on the ground, and some tumbling down randomly, as if they were falling from the trees overhead.

I wanted to show how a much simpler card could be made using the same mushroom stamp, taking much less time, but producing a really pretty card nonetheless. I made a mask with an oval aperture in the centre, which I placed onto a piece of smooth watercolour paper. I then stamped the mushroom border onto the paper, and coloured it using Distress Inks and a waterbrush. I used a loose style, not trying to be too precise. I dried the image and then covered it with the mask that I had used from my first card. I added a small circle mask to represent a moon, and then coloured the sky, using a combination of three Distress Inks in orange, blue and plum. I removed the circle mask and added a little bit of grey to soften the starkness of the moon, before swiping some yellow across the moon and a bit of the sky to either side.

I removed the mushroom mask, and coloured the tops of the mushrooms with a bit of yellow as well, to represent the light from the moon. I then coloured in the ground with a bit of lilac. I added a streak of yellow for the moonlight, deciding where it would shine.

I stamped the sentiment taken from the Bewitched Moonlight stamp set, and a fairy from the Summer Fairy stamp collection using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

A much quicker card, but still achieving a great look. I hope that I have given you some inspiration with these versatile stamps. Thanks for stopping by, Judith xx
