Guest Post - Mixed Media Butterfly by Corine van Kuilenburg

We are already at the second post from Guest Team member Corine and this week she has chosen to combine Chocolate Baroque stamps with Brushos. Enjoy.

Today is my second post as guest designer. I hope you liked my first post. This time I created a mixed media card.

  • First paste on a piece of card stock book paper. Paint this with gesso. Emboss an image from Dusky Damask with clear embossing powder. Use 2 or 3 colours of Brusho and spritz with water. Make sure your whole card  is covered with Brusho. Let everything dry completely.
  • Use stencils and inks to add more detail to your background. Stamp with black ink one or two images from Rustic Fragments.
  • Emboss the butterfly from Tangled Garden on watercolor paper and color it in with markers and a water brush. Cut out and glue to your background.
I hope I have inpired you.

Corine

You have certainly inspired me to get out a selection of papers, stamps and colour Corine, thank you. And if you enjoy being inspired by our Design Team then please visit us again, there is sure to be something to whet your appetite.

Having a Spooky Time (by Zoe)

Hi, I'm back with my 3rd, yes 3rd post for Chocolate Baroque, I still need pinching to make sure I'm not dreaming lol.

Today I'm sharing a card and tag I've made using the wonderful Hocus Pocus stamp set, I've loved using these stamps, they are quirky, fun and a tad spooky.

My little tag was cut  from 2 layers of a linen texture card and I very simply stamped the cat using a black inkpad. I used watercolour crayons to colour.

For the card I die cut 2 circles, the base being folded to make it stand, all be it a bit rocky.  The top layer was stamped with Versamark ink using the gorgeous Damask background from the Dusky Damask set, I love this set. I then made a mask for the moon, swiped over using PanPastels then removed the mask and placed the negative mask over the moon and used contrasting colours to create a moody atmospheric effect.

I used a very slightly larger mask to create an outline and used a pencil eraser to make a misty effect around the moon and a few wispy clouds.  I always use my pans on linen card, it gives such a luxurious finish I feel and, once I happy with the colouring, I use very cheap hairspray to seal the PanPastels.

The witch was stamped with black ink and the little mushrooms and cauldron were coloured with pencils.

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments I've received on previous posts, I really love reading them. I hope I've inspired you to want these fab stamps. Please don't forget to pop back each day to see what the rest of my very talented teamies have created for you.

Bye for now, have a great day xx Zoe xx

Blue bird on a Damask background (by Miranda)

Hi there,

This is my 2nd take with the new beautiful birds from ' a little bird told me'. Just love them as I love birds in general! They have a special meaning in my life.........I've used the lovely Dusky Damask stamp sheet for the background.

I have worked on canvas paper and used some fluid inks like Ecoline, like to work with them very much. I am getting very messy but it's nice to let the inks flow and create beautiful patterns. On the left bottom corner I pulled out the ink by spraying my clean stamp with water and hold it onto the paper from a while. When you lift the stamp and blot the paper with a kitchen towel the magic happens......
At the right upper corner I have stamped with the white Ecoline, you could also use the white Distress paint or Dylusions paint.

Also made a technique tile and used the triple embossing technique. You can also die cut a shape you like from grunge board or chipboard.
First I have blended the tile using Distress ink Peacock feathers. Than I've partially stamped the Dusky Damask fragment on the tile using Chipped Saffire. Than you press the tile into your Versamark pad and emboss it with a clear embossing powder. Repeat the last action 2 times. Ink up your stamp with Versamark and when the 3rd layer is still hot you press your stamp into it, leave for a few seconds and than carefully remove your stamp. Add some perfect pearl powder into the impression.

Hope to have inspired you with this one!
Thanks for visiting and always enjoy to read your comments,
till next time,

Beautiful Birdcage Collage (by Shirley)

Hello creative people, I hope you are doing well.

I have a design to show using a gorgeous new cling single stamp - Birdcage Collage.

The background was created with Dylusions inks and Distress Paint (yellow).   I over stamped with a stamp from the beautiful Dusky Damask set.   The main image stamped with Cobalt Archival ink was painted with water colour markers.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day,
Shirleyx

Little Note Cards

A friend recently asked me to make her some notecards, so I did,
and these are a few of them.  I used the Dusky Damask stamp set.

The floral border is the stamp I used from the Chocolate Baroque set,
carried over to the outside edge of the envelope.

This stamp above is so "spring-timey"!   I added a few flowers punched
out that matched the shape of the flowers in the stamp.

This one is my favorite!  Black, white and red are so striking together!
Above, I stamped the image onto red dotted cardstock,
then mounted it on a mat of black.
With the addition of a few little rhinestones, this card said, "Chocolate Bling"!

Even the envelope is beautiful!

Dusky Damask Care Card

Good day to each of you!  Welcome to another Dusky Damask posting filled with "eye candy", or "eye chocolate"!  Delicious!  Please "eat" as much as you'd like - you won't get full!

This new set is so awesome and versatile!  These stamps are so detailed and clean!  They are wonderful to work with, and the quality of these stamps is superb!  Have I raved enough?  :)
I wanted to make the focal image "pop", so I used a very dark patterned
gray cardstock as my base.  The very large paisleys were heat embossed in black. They stand out nicely against the dark background.

Mounting the flower image on a blue mat to match the blue I used
to color it makes the colors brighter.  Attaching it with foam squares to
raise it up off the base makes it really stand out against the dark gray.

This is a tri-fold card and measures 3 3/4" wide by 7" high.

This card stands on it's own very nicely.  I used one of the other floral stamps from the Dusky Damask set to accent the center and right panels.  The sentiment reads, "Where man sees but withered leaves, God sees sweet flowers growing."  You will find it in the Easter Traditions stamp set.  I hand-calligraphied, "Be encouraged".

Please check back with us again to see what beautiful and inspiring work is being created!

The Cameo & Dusky Damask

Hello, All!  Welcome to Chocolate Baroque!  I hope you'll enjoy your visit, and please leave some love in the comments section!  We love to hear from you!  Now for my project -

I believe this beautiful stamp has been discontinued, but I am posting this card because I used the new Dusky Damask stamp being spotlighted, on the inside.  What beautiful stamps in this new set!

This is the Dusky Damask set!

I stamped the pretty lady on white cardstock, and "aged" her with distress ink.  I used the new Spellbinders die set Floral Ovals, some gimp, pearls, lace, trim and punched flowers to enhance the image.  The crowning piece was the white background embossed with the "Fan", Anja-style stencil, and cutting out the "windows" so that the DCWV Linen Closet designer paper could peek through.

I hope you'll visit the main Chocolate Baroque website by clicking here!  You will be in Chocolate heaven!  Please come back often as our wonderful design team gals continually post new and beautiful projects for your inspiration and enjoyment!  Thanks, and please come again!
