Mini Indian Elephant Canvas (by Anne)

Good morning. Today I am sharing a mini canvas for this month’s texture theme.

Materials:

• Gothics Fragments, Texture Fragments, Indian Elephant, Words of Inspiration stamp sets
• Mandala Stencil (Martha Stewart) and fossil stencil (Andy Skinner)
• Mini stretched canvas (21 X 14.5cm), watercolour card (20 X 14cm), scrap stamping card
• Mod Podge (Matte)
• WOW embossing powder (Gold detail)
• Ink sprays with mica – archival type, waterproof when dry (teal, pale pink)
• Inkpads: archival dye (teal), Versamark
• Sakura Starlite pens – archival glitter (green, blue, pink, purple)
• Coloured pencils (greys)
• Viva Décor Glitter Paste (603 teal)
• Microbeads (pink multi)
• Alcohol marker (teal) and fine tipped marker (cerise)
• Acrylic paint (cerise pearl)
• Decorative corner punch
• 3D glue gel

How it was done:

1. Spritzed the watercolour card with water, teal and pale pink inks. Laid down the fossil stencil while wet and left to dry overnight. The ink gets pulled under the stencil by capillary action giving a negative image.
2. Randomly stamped the background with the texture stamp and teal archival ink.
3. Stamped the gothic arch and sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with the gold powder. Coloured with the glitter pens and fine tipped pink marker.
4. Applied glitter paste with a palette knife through the mandala stencil. Whilst wet dropped on some microbeads – pressed lightly into surface. Dried overnight.
5. Stamped elephant with Versamark onto scrap stamping card and heat embossed with gold powder. Coloured with glitter pens and grey pencils, Cut out and shaped slightly. Glued to card with 3D glue gel.
6. Punched corners and outlined with teal marker.
7. Coloured outer edges of canvas with acrylic paint.
8. Glued the card to the canvas with Mod Podge. Also applied over the top to seal the image. Note: I thought that my pink fine liner was archival but it was water soluble! Hence it bled and smeared across the canvas when I applied the Mod Podge – eeeek! However it did add to the texture effect – tee hee.

Baroque Ornament Palm Fan Silhouette and Teardrop cards (by Anne)

Good morning. Today I have 2 cards to share with you using the lovely Baroque Ornament stamps.

Project 1 – Palm Fan Silhouette

Materials:

• Baroque Ornament Palm Fan Silhouette and Indian Elephant stamp set
• 7 X 7 inch card blank and approx. 6 inch circle plus a scarp of stamping card
• Inkpads: dye based (violet), multi-coloured (blue and violet), Versamark
• Alcohol ink marker (violet)
• Glitter pens (pink, purple, blue)
• WOW embossing powder (Blueberry)
• Glue pen and fine crystal glitter
• 3D glue gel and foam pads

How to make it:

1. Stamp the ornament and emboss with blue powder. Colour with glitter pens. Cut out the ornament. Snip into the petals and lift and shape. Using the glue pen ‘colour’ the outer sections and sprinkle with the glitter.
2. Place the cut out ornament onto the circular mat and mark the outer positions of the image by dotting lightly with a soft pencil. Next draw in lightly cross sections of the circle to create 12 segments in total. This is to help you align for stamping. Stamp the small motif 12 times around the circle using the multi-coloured inkpad. Also stamp in the corners of the card blank.
3. Edge the circular mat with a little dye based ink. Edge the card blank and circle with the alcohol marker to create a frame.
4. Mount the ornament onto the circle using 3D glue gel for added dimension. Mount this onto the card blank using 3D foam.
5. Finish with a little more glitter for extra sparkle.

  

Project 2 - Teardrop

Materials:

The materials used were as above except using the Baroque Ornament Teardrop stamp, and with the addition of turquoise PVA pearls.

How to make it:

This one was made in a similar way to the first card. In this case the ornament was stamped twice and the central section cut, offset and layered onto the base one. Turquoise PVA pearls were used to finish.

Dreams Rise In The East (by Asha)

Good morning, friends! I'm back with 2 more projects featuring the brand new Teardrop Baroque Ornament.

First up is an Art Journal page. Actually, its my very first attempt at art journalling. The design is inspired by a Dreamcatcher dancing in the wind at sunrise. I heat embossed the Teardrop Baroque Ornament, with black EP, onto a piece of vellum. I also heat embossed the tassels in the same way. These little elements are from Indian Textiles and Indian Elephant. To create the background I used Distress Paints. For texture and interest, I used the Miniscript from the Mini Stamps Multibuy set and randomly stencilled in some texture paste. To put it all together, I fussy cut the Teardrop Baroque Ornament and supporting elements and adhered them to the page. Finally, I added some string to the tassels.

The second project is an easy one. This time I heat embossed the Teardrop Baroque Ornament onto some black cardstock using white EP and coloured it with Faber Castell Polychromos. For a dramatic finish I added little dots a Silver Sharpie.  And there you have it - a super simple all occasion card.

If, like me, you find Art Journals intimidating, I'd like to encourage you to give it a go. It can be a stratifying experience. Unlike a card, an Art Journal isn't going anywhere. It's for your pleasure and, best of all,  you don't have to worry if the recipient is going to like it. Over at my blog I've got more pictures and details of all the materials used on this project.

Elephant Walk (by Magda)

As you know Magda joined the Design Team earlier this month and I thought it was about time you knew a little more about her. I put the usual questions I always ask new DT members so here goes.

What what were your first Chocolate Baroque stamps?

I remember that it was a parcel with several stamps : Peacock set, Indian Elephant, Texture Fragments,Serenity and Tranquillity set

What style of stamping do you prefer?

It is quite difficult to say which style of stamps I prefer. Chocolate Baroque stamps are very inviting and it is always a challenge with myself to see the final result of style.

What stamps are on your wishlist?

There are a lot of items  signed in my list, here  just some of them: Floribunda Net Individual, Another Brick in the Walled, Sketchy Doodle Flowers, Sunburst Scenes, Music Fanfare

Can you tell us in one sentence what crafting means to you

I would love to stay all the day in my craft room with ideas to put on paper, using several colours, stamps etc.,  fortunately I have found a good balance between my “world” up stairs, the one down stairs and the one outside.

And now here is Magda's latest project for you using a combination of stamps.

Elephant Walk

Thinking about a Catwalk I named my project “Elephant Walk”. It is easy and nice to realise , even if it is twice to do, one time on the envelope and the second time on the card.

1. Colour the upper part with Distress Inkpad Tumbled Glass for the sky, leaving some white spaces as clouds
2. Use Distress Inkpad  Peeled Paint for the grass.
3. Stamp with Archival black on the left side of the envelope and on the right side of the card one elephant of Indian Elephant.
4. Stamp with Archival black the grass and the plants of Floral Edges.
5. Stamp with Archival black the birds of Landscape Edges clear stamp set
6. Colour the Elephants with Faber-Castell Pencils.
7. Close the envelope and trim its right side to insert the car.
8. Punch a half hole in the middle of the right side of the envelope.
9. Stamp the sentiment that you like on the card and glue a ribbon on the right side to pull it out from the envelope.

AUTUMN AND MUSHROOMS (by Maria)

The mushrooms on the stamp set Autumn Poppy are super, I really love them, so I made some samples here to show you how I have used them. I hope you like them!

The leaves that I used are all from the same stamping set,  this is really a set that  you can't miss, all the stamps on the set are so beautiful and useful I really adore them!

For the background  of the first two cards I've used the Indian Elephant stamp set! My background itself is made with an acrylic  block and Distress Inks. The moths I found on the Poppy edges stamp set.  I have used all the autumn colours I had in my collection (watercolours).  These were very easy cards, made with very beautiful stamps, and I think the result are quite good aren't they? I wish you a very good stamping time in Autumn and enjoy!

Eastern Adventure (posted by Judith)

Hi Folks, I wanted to show the versatility of the new MagicalLandscapes/Fantasy Castles Multibuy stamp set and made a card with a bit of an Eastern flavour which I am showing you today.

I created a wrinkle free Distress background , and then stamped a large paisley stamp from Indian Elephant using the same colour Distress Ink. I used a palm tree stamp from Peace on Earth showing that Christmas stamps can be used all year round, not just at Christmas! The sentiment is from the Artistic Affirmations stamp set.

I stamped the main image onto a piece of white card using gold embossing powder, and coloured the image with Distress Markers, sticking to the blue and orange theme of the card as much as possible. Finally, I swirled some blue and orange Distress Ink around the edge of the card to soften the white background. I used some Versamark around the edges of the main background card, and added some gold embossing powder, which I heated to melt. Some dark blue card to mat the layers completed the card.

Indian Swirl (by Clare)

Hi, there!  This card turned out better than I had planned, and the Indian Elephant stamps are so beautiful, and fun to work with!  There is so much detail, and if you enjoy coloring, this set is for you! 

 

Stamping on fabric (posted by Claire)

Good morning, Claire here with another sample using the gorgeous new stamps launched this month. For this card I've used stamps from 'Indian Elephant'.

I began by creating a frame from black card with a border punch. I stamped the flower with versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder. Inside the frame I used a piece of card covered with layers of chiffon, I used a pokey tool to fray the layers to add a little interest. I used the same stamp but this time I used gold stazon, I stamped the smaller motif with black stazon. I wasn't sure if the stazon would work but I didn't have any fabric ink pads so I just had a play and I was really pleased with the effect.

The topper is a stampboard ATC, I created the background with clayboard inks and embossed the delicate image with black embossing powder.

To finish off I added a little ribbon and a gold metal corner from my stash.

Magical Tree & Indian Elephant (by Shirley)

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.

I have two card designs today using Indian Elephant.  We've had so much fun with the gorgeous Indian theme designs.

In this first design I used the 'magical' flower tree along with a leaf from the Tangled Garden set.  

I coloured the main image & leaves with Prisma Pencils and added glitter, rhinestones & a large 'gem'.   I edged the mats with a gold leaf pen.

And on this next card below I used the Elephant from the Indian Elephant set. 

The background is the beautiful design from the printable download - Leafy Brocade.      Using the colours of the background as my guide, I coloured the image with Prisma Pencils.  I blended a little Distress Ink around the parameter matching the green in the corner of the printed paper.    Again I added glitter, rhinestones & a large 'gem' charm.
