Reflective Stamping (by Julie)

Hello, thanks for stopping by. Today I have a couple of cards to show you and for the first one I used a reflecting technique, which once you know the trick, is very easy.

For this design it is easier to start with the reflective image so ink up your solid Palace stamp from Indian Textile with Onyx Black Versafine and then take a brayer and roll over the image, width ways so the inky image has been transferred to the brayer.
Decide where you want the reflection placed and then roll your Brayer onto the stamping card. You can then re-ink your palace stamp and stamp above your reflection.
If you do not have a brayer you can stamp your image onto acetate, place the design where you want the reflection and then push down on the back of the acetate to transfer the design.
I then stamped the leafy design around the edge using a decorative stamp from Natures Paisley. I then followed this by creating a circle stencil from copy paper with a circle die, so that I could apply Distress ink through to create the moon, both in the sky and the reflection. The background is created with Seedless Preserve and Hickory Smoke Distress inks and white paint pen was added to the water area.
The design was then mounted onto black card-stock before attaching to the front of the card.

My second card has been stamped with Paisley Elephant. The decorative fan was inked up with Red Versafine and stamped four times onto white card-stock before being cut out and arranged in an overlapping, four petal flower shape. 3D glue gel was used to adhere the petals to the card.
The background was coloured with Distress inks and stamped with the little decorative paisley stamp.
The sentiment was stamped to the top-right hand side of the design and the card was finished off with a red flat back gem in the centre of the flower.

Thank you for reading and please call back soon for daily Design Team inspiration.

Indian Bling (by Anne)

Good morning. Today I am sharing a couple of my recent makes using the Indian themed stamp sets.
My first project for today is a pretty little heart hanger. Lots of bling on this one.

Materials:
How it was done:
  1. The heart was painted with pink metallic paints and edged with gilding wax. The script was stamped onto the background with StazOn and gold metallic paint.
  2. Relief Paste was applied to the large background stamp and left to dry overnight. A little StazOn Ink was applied over the surface, along with gilding wax, to emphasise the texture. This was glued to the heart.
  3. The peacock and sentiment were stamped with Versafine onto stamping card, coloured with sparkle pens and cut out. The sentiment was edged with black ink and attached with 3D glue gel.
  4. The peacock was stamped onto acetate with Versamark and heat embossed with multiple colours of powder. A little colour was applied to the back with alcohol pens. The peacock was cut out and layered up, applied to the heart with 3D glue gel.
  5. Gems were glued down with fast grab strong PVA glue.

My second project  today is a vibrant card with matching Birthday tag.

Materials:
  • Indian Textiles and Paisley Elephant stamp sets, Silhouette Palaces Stencil 1 and Stencil 2
  • A5 card blank, mount board tag (11 X 5cm), white stamping card (21 X 7cm), flower cut from white vellum and white card leafy sprig
  • Inkpads: Versamark
  • Brusho Powders (Turquoise, Leaf Green) and pigments with mica (pink, purple, yellow)
  • Fine embossing powders (gold, white)
  • Metallic paints (pink, gold)
  • Sparkle pens (clear, turquoise, deep purple, cerise pink)
  • Fine tipped markers (black, opaque white)
  • Gel pens (clear glaze and gold)
  • Large faux gem and sequins, organza ribbons (turquoise, lilac)
How they were made:
  1. The card strip and tag were coloured with water soluble powders, dropping them onto the card and spritzing with water.
  2. The palaces were stencilled with pink metallic paints. The masks were then overlaid and details added with gold paint. Extra highlights and the roof domes were also coloured with gold. The fine tipped black pen was used to draw in details and extra highlights were added with white pen.
  3. Sparkling rays were added from the dome tops using clear and gold gel pens plus clear sparkle pen. Black pen was used around the edges to frame.
  4. The sentiment was stamped onto the tag with Versamark and embossed with white powder. Finished with ribbons, vellum flower, leafy sprig, faux gem and sequins.
  5. The border was stamped onto the card blank with Versamark, embossed with gold powder and coloured with sparkle pens. Finished with sequins for extra bling. You know that I just cannot resist!
I hope that you have enjoyed my Indian bling makes today x.

eastern script (by Veronica)

I am a sucker for script stamps, so the letter stamp on the paisley elephant stamp sheet immediately caught my eye!

Having a small candle sitting on the shelf waiting to be used solved the question of what to do with it - decorate with the script stamp.

I stamped the image twice onto white tissue paper with black versafine ink, tore carefully round the edges once the ink was dry then fused them to the candle using a heat gun.

I then made a box to fit the candle using an envelope punch board and black card. Before gluing the box together i stamped the script stamp on the sides using versamark ink and white embossing powder.
Once the box was assembled, i needed something to fasten it, so a trip to my local craft shop was needed. What I was hoping to find was an elephant charm, but they were either tiny or way too big - what was the right size was a pack of elephant buttons. They were decorated with flowers , so I covered them with a few layers of versamark ink and gold embossing powder and then pressed them onto the stamp while the powder was still hot. A trip of plaited embroidery threads was looped and the ends sandwiched between two buttons to make the fastening.

I used what was left of the sheet of tissue paper to wrap the candle inside the box, simply repeat stamping the script in black and grey versafine ink in a fairly random pattern.

Tale of Two Palaces - by Penny

Good morning peeps!  I'm back again to share a couple of my  'Indian' samples from the shows last month.  I hope you are all well and still enjoying good weather.  So pop the kettle on, grab a biscuit (or two) and join me for some crafty fun!

Palace in Moonlight

My first project today features stamps from the Indian Textiles and Paisley Elephant sets; Distress Inks, Pearl White pearlescent paint, silver pen, black Versafine ink, clear EP,  and a gold pen.

On a piece of black card I stamped the large Palace image in black ink and embossed it with clear EP.  I then drew a large circle in the middle of the card, with only about two thirds of it showing.  This gives the impression of the moon being behind the palace.  I painted the moon silver, then added highlights to the palace with a silver pen.  I added some clouds to the sky and a reflection below the palace using silver paint.  I then edged the focal panel with silver pen.

On a white base card I stamped a border image using Distress Ink along the top and bottom edge of the card front.  I added accents to the pattern with a gold pen, then attached the focal panel to the base card.  On a piece of spare white card I stamped a sentiment in black and embossed it with clear EP.  I added highlights with a gold pen and blended ink around the edges.

Henna Tattoo Palace

My second project for you features stamps from the Indian Elephant Indian Textiles and Paisley Elephant  sets; Versamark ink, Distress Ink, gold pen, and Silhouette Palace 1 Mask

I began by taking a piece of Kraft card and stamping some Paisley images, a border and a floral image around the edges of it to create a border, using Versamark ink.  I like the effect this gives, it reminds me of Henna Tattoos.  I then placed the palace mask in the center of the panel and traced around the edges with a gold pen to create the palace outline.  I used the script image to stamp through the mask  with Versamark again to create a pattern on the palace.  I finished the panel by adding gold pen around the edge.

I took a white base card and stencilled the palace using Distress Ink.  I then stamped the same border and Paisley images as before around the edges, and used a waterbrush to paint them.  I took a spare piece of Kraft card and stamped a sentiment with Versamark ink, and die cut it.  I then added part of one of the Paisley images around the inner edges of the sentiment panel, and added gold pen around the outer edges.  I used the pen again to add dots around the words to make them pop, then attached the panel to the card with 3D foam pads.

Thank you for dropping by today and spending time with me, I hope I've given your crafty Mojo something to get it's teeth into lol!

Take care all until next time,

Faux Batik Paisleys (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I hope that you are enjoying the hot and spicy samples that the Design Team are bringing to you this month, courtesy of the stamps that we used on last month's TV shows on Hochanda. The DT had a lot of fun creating projects using these fabulous stamps.

I wanted to use the faux batik technique on my first batch of projects, and show how this could be adapted for a range of uses. I created a masterboard, using an A4 piece of drawing cartridge, stamping a leafy image from the Nature's Paisleys stamp set, using Versamark and clear embossing powder all over the page. Once completed, I blended a range of bold coloured Distress Inks over the page until I had covered the background. The clear embossing powder acted as a resist for the inks. I placed some copy paper over the top of the page, and used an iron on a medium setting, to iron off the embossing powder, leaving a flat surface.

For my first project, I trimmed a piece of the masterboard into a tag shape using a large die. Using the same die, I folded some black card, and drew around the die to create a card base. I added an elephant image that had been stamped onto a spare piece of card and coloured with Distress Ink and a water brush. The sentiment had been stamped onto card coloured with Distress Ink and edged with toning ink. All of these images were from the Paisley Elephant stamp set.

I used another piece of the masterboard, trimmed to fit a square card blank, for my next project. I stamped a sentiment from the Birthday Words stamp set over the top. Because the surface is flat minus the embossing powder, you can stamp over the top. I created a flower as an embellishment by stamping and clear embossing one of the smaller paisley images from the Nature's Paisleys stamp set onto card that I had coloured with Distress Ink, and cutting them out. I added a large gem in the middle.

I decided to create a card in a similar style using kraft card. I stamped and embossed a paisley design using clear embossing powder onto the kraft card, and thought how fabulous the embossing looked against the kraft card, just by itself. I decided to make a card in this monochrome colour scheme there and then, it was a discovery by happy accident. Sometimes you just need to experiment, and you find extra ideas as you go along, this was one of those times for me. I added some cream flowers from the Little Birdie range, and a sentiment, using clear embossing as before, and my card was finished. Without the flowers, this card could have been more masculine.

On to the card that I was intending to make now! I embossed the kraft card with clear embossing powder, and added blue Distress Ink before ironing off the embossing powder as in my first projects. The background looks like an old faded bandana, and I love this effect. It would look great with red or plum ink as well. I sprtitzed some cream Little Birdie flowers with Turquoise Brushos and a bit of gold shimmer, also adding some gold leaves from my stash. I added a sentiment stamped onto kraft card, and used a layer of kraft card to mat the background.

I thoroughly enjoyed making these projects, and hope that I have given you lots of ideas. Most of all, I hope you will experiment, because you never know where it might lead you! Thanks for stopping by, Judith xx
