Beauty in a Single Rose (by Shirley)

Hello everyone !

Today I have a card created with the single rose from the gorgeous Rose & Thistle set.   I enjoy the challenge of one-layer, clean & simple cards and decided to create one with this beautiful rose.  If you follow my blog then you've already seen this design.  I apologize but it 'got away' on me during a 'fumble finger' moment.

I drew lines with a fine pencil on the right hand area of folded heavy card stock.    I embossed the single Rose with black.    I created masks with scrap paper to cover the area that I wanted to keep white & blended Shabby Shutters Distress Ink in the open area.   Next I used Peeled Paint Distress ink with the Mini-Harlequin TCW Stencil.

After removing the masks I stamped Love from the Artistic Expressions set (I use this set a lot!) with black versafine ink.   I coloured the rose with co-ordinating Distress Markers and blended a little with water.    Very easy & quick to create !

Thanks for your visit and have a great day !

A ring of roses (posted by Elaine)

When I saw the new Rose and Thistle stamps I felt another garland card coming on! I love making wreaths and garlands out of images and die cut elements.

I recently treated myself to a new set of Prisma colouring pencils and this project gave me a chance to put them through their paces for the first time. I stamped the rose panel image three times and the rose hip sprig 8 times in Olympia Green Versafine ink. I then shaded the flowers and leaves in shades of red, pink and greens. This is not one of those cards that is quick to make, but the three hours of colouring was very relaxing while watching the TV.

I then carefully cut out the images, selecting separate rose images from the panels to make as many separate elements as I could use. I mounted all the flowers and sprigs of rose hips around a sentiment from the Artistic Expressions plate stamped onto pale green card, matted onto dark green and an 8 x 8 cream card blank.

Hope you are enjoying all the inspiration from the DT with these lovely new stamps.

Dotted Rose Valentine (by Clare)

Well, Valentine's Day is right around the corner - can you believe it?!  I'm going to take the batteries out of my clocks!

Chocolate Baroque has released a new stamp set called Rose and Thistle, and it is gorgeous!  Click on the name to go see it on the Chocolate Baroque site!  So beautiful!

I decided to color the heart using the same technique as it was drawn, by using dots unstead of sweeps of color from a marker, or strokes of a colored pencil.  I used fine tipped markers and dotted the whole heart, using different shades to blend the colors.  I used a stencil for the fan-looking embossing, and just added a few die cut shapes, some ribbon, and a little red and silver bling to complete this valentine for my Valentine!  For the inside, I stamped the same rose heart onto burgundy cardstock, and colored it in using the same colors from the front.  It looks totally different from the front heart which was done on white cardstock.

Happy stamping, all you Sweethearts out there!  :)

Rose Heart (posted by Shirley)

Hello everyone !   I hope you are doing well and still enjoying the holiday season.   It's snowing here in Ontario, Canada and I'm enjoying looking at the winter wonderland from my craft room, very pretty !

I'm excited with all the new designs that have just been released !     I have a card today using January's Stamp of Month set -  Rose & Thistle.   Again the creative possibilities with these beautiful & elegant designs are endless.  This set will certainly will make lovely Valentine, Wedding or Anniversary cards & more.

I created the background with watercolour paints spritzed with water to blend.     The Flower Fragment from the Textured Fragment set was stamped with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.   You Inspire Me is from the Words of Inspiration set that is one of the wonderful word sets currently on special.     I stamped the Rose Heart from the Rose & Thistle set separately on white card stock, coloured with Prisma Pencils, cut out and adhered as shown.    I also added a little glitter that is hard to see in the photo.

Here is another look at the gorgeous Roses & Thistle set

Thanks for your visit & stayed tuned for beautiful artwork with the new designs from my talented team mates !

Wishing you a happy, healthy & creative 2013 !

January Stamp of the Month

It's almost the start of a fresh and shiny new year and for us that means we have new stamps coming out!  Yep, we have two sets of stamps and some individual clear stamps too.

First up, our January Stamp of the Month is this lovely set, Rose & Thistle - yes I know it sounds like somewhere you'd pop in for a swift half pint, but no, it's this lovely set of rubber stamps:

Then we have a complete change of mood with a new clear set called Eastern Landscapes.

This set will combine so well with our existing oriental themed clear stamps such as Moonlit Waterfall, Lily Pad and Oriental Crane.

Then we have a collection of Baroque Hearts - available both as single stamps and as a collection.

My Christmas card to Adrian this year featured the Elegant Baroque Heart done in Christmas colours.

and here are the same hearts in a different colourway.

I've managed to get some time in my craft room this week, so I have a few cards coming up to share with you.  You'll find one over on my own blog later today.

There's more to come from the DT too, so stay tuned for more inspiration.
