Roses in Red (by Penny)

Well here we are already at Penny's last week of her current Guest Design Team posts.  And this last project is a veritable feast for the eyes, a real study in red. So without further ado it's over to Penny.

Hello everyone, Penny here for my third and final GDT blog post this month - I've had so much fun bringing you these three projects!  Today's post is a lovely card that features a couple of Chocolate Baroque's many beautiful floral stamps - Floribunda Net, Harlequin Rose, and words from the Loving Sentiments set.  I have also used grey Versafine ink, Candied Apple Distress Ink, clear Sparkle pen, alcohol pens, and a gold marker pen.

I began by creating the focal panel, stamping the rose in grey ink onto white card then colouring the image with alcohol pens.  I added clear Sparkle pen to the net in the background and die cut the image to create a panel.  I added distress inks through the die, using it like a stencil, then added gold pen around the outer edges of the panel.  To complete the panel I matted it onto black card.

I stamped a single rose image using distress inks into each corner of a white base card.  I then used water to pull the ink out and paint the roses, and added Sparkle pen. I then stamped a sentiment at the bottom of the card and attached the focal panel.

This is quite a simple design from me for a change, but it is still as much fun to create as other more complex  projects.  I think this pretty card would be great for many occasions and for any age.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you've enjoyed it.  I know it's early but I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Penny  xxx

You know I think roses are right for any season, including Christmas, so thank you Penny for this beautiful finish on your final week.  We have loved having you as our guest and look forward to what you will bring us in the New Year.

Well that's all from me too but don't foget we have a new piece of inspirational artwork everyday from one of our lovely, and talented, design team. So please do join us again soon.

Just thought.. (By Marga)

Hello everyone. A card from me today.

For this card I used Distress Ink also for the colouring of the flowers. The crackle stamp I stamped all over the image also.

Harlequin Poppies (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I have a project to share with you today that featured on last month's TV shows on Hochanda.

This project was created using the fabulous Drawing Cartridge paper, which is such a great product. I love to use smooth watercolour paper in a lot of my projects, which can be a bit pricy. Cartridge paper is a cheaper alternative, and this paper from the website is perfect for adding water, and lightweight enough for fussy cutting. It is smooth enough for stamping as well, so a good all rounder for your projects.

I started my project by blending bands of Distress Ink across the background, and then spritzed them with water for a mottled effect. Once the background had dried naturally, I added a circle mask, and stamped a harlequin image from the Harlequin Fragments stamp set around the masked area, using a deep red Distress Ink, mixed in with a little brown. I added some extra shading around the edge of the mask, before removing the mask.

On another piece of the cartridge paper, I added some colour using green, red, yellow and orange Distress Inks, and then stamped some of the flowers and a butterfly from the Butterfly Poppy Collage stamp set, using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I heat set the images and cut them out. I stamped a sentiment from the Loving Sentiments stamp set into the circle aperture created underneath the mask, using the black ink as before.

I added large black brads to the flowers to give the illusion of the flowers being poppies, before attaching them to the card, and added some leafy die cuts. Finally, I adhered the background to a large black card blank.

Thanks for stopping by, Judith xx

Harlequin Bouquet Canvas (by Anne)

Good morning. Today I am sharing a small canvas created with the lovely floral collage stamp - Harlequin Bouquet.

Materials:
How to make it:
  1. Stamp the image onto stamping card with Versafine and heat emboss with clear powder. Colour with water based pens.
  2. Randomly Spritz the canvas background and cover with UTEE while wet. Heat to melt. I wanted a bit of a random texture rather than smooth glass effect. If you want more texture pour a bit more powder onto the hot UTEE and melt. Ink the sentiment with StazOn and press into the molten UTEE. Leave until it sets before peeling away. I found the image was a little feint so darkened using an alcohol pen – drawing into the impressed lettering.
  3. Apply the glitter paste with a palette knife onto the background using the leaf stencil. Apply modelling paste through the butterfly stencil. Leave to dry.
  4. Lightly spritz the watercolour card with inks (you want it to be lighter than the canvas background so that it stands out). Cut out the frame with the decorative die and apply some ink to the edges with a sponge to define. Trim the main image to fit behind the frame and glue together. Mount onto the canvas with 3D foam.
  5. Finish with touches of glitter glue.

Roses and Reindeer's (by Brenda)

Hello all, I'm here again to share a few more of my samples from last months Hochanda shows where Lesley inspired us all with more beautiful stamps.

For my first share I gave a piece of watercolour card a watery covering of DI then stamped Crackling Rose with Versafine black and coloured in with sparkle pens. The sentiment is from Loving Sentiments which I cut into several pieces to arrange around the bloom. The edges have been lightly inked, matted onto coordinating cardstock and a organza bow added down the side.

Reindeer Landscape is such a lovely stamp and I decided to keep it fairly simple. I stamped the main image and added some watercolour to the sky using a mask to block out the moon plus a little shading to the hills, then stamped part of the image twice onto a larger piece of card so that I could raise the focal coloured one in the centre to carry the scene either side. I also stamped one of the Deer again, cut it out and decoupaged offsetting it to the left.

My last share is a bit more inky indulgence using die cuts to create the base card which I then inked with Oxide inks and stamped with Harlequin Bouquet and Floribunda Net, coloured in with the same inks and the sentiment from Loving Sentiments stamped with Versafine black. I also added some leaves using leaves using the Useful Leaves stencil. Finally the three pieces were then tied together with seam binding threaded through eyelets.

Happy day all.

Roses (byJulie)

Hello, today I have a couple of cards on a Rose theme.

My first card uses the rather lovely Crackling Rose stamp. To start with I stamped the design onto the centre of the card and then onto spare stamping card. I coloured the design on the spare card with Magic Pencils and then cut it out with a die cutting machine and an oval die. Next I added the extra crackles by partially inking up the Large Crackle Background and then just pressing it onto the card with my finger. (no need to use a stamping block). I then used 3d pads to adhere the oval panel to the front of the card. I then cut a frame from lilac paper and ran it through a die cutting machine with an embossing folder. I finished off with a sentiment from Loving Sentiments

My second card is stamped with Floribunda Net. I cut a couple of tags and stamped the Floribunda Net onto the white card stock tag before colouring with Magic Pencils. I created the Brusho background with just yellow and grey, but also added dabs of gold gilding wax as well. Before mounting the tags onto the card I threaded them with a feathery ribbon that I found in my stash and finished off by stamping the sentiment from Loving Sentiments

Many thanks for popping in and please call back soon for more Design Team inspiration.

Trilogy (by Magda) - Floral Backgrounds

In order to complete the projects with the Floral Backgrounds from Chocolate Baroque, I am sharing with you my Trilogy with the following stamps :
Harlequin BouquetCrackling Rose  and  Floribunda Net.

For the backgrounds of all the cards I blended several colours of Distress Ink Pad.  I stamped the images with Versafine Onyx Black, coloured the flowers and leaves with watercolour pencils and
highlighted the petals with Stickles Crystal.
I used the sentiments from the fabulous Loving Sentiments set.

Harlequin Bouquet,

Crackling Rose

For this card, just for having it different, I cut out the shape of the mat and the front of the card, as you can see below.

I hope you enjoyed passing by. Thank you
Magda

a floral bouquet (by Veronica)

Today I have several floral cards to share, made for the show on Hochanda last month -  and one card doesn't have brusho on it!
The first uses the lovely flora musica stamp, stamped with versamark on white card and white embossed before adding brusho powders. The dark brown card background was randomly stamped with the rose part of the image and gold embossed,. and the mats are dark brown and gold.
The second uses the crackling rose stamp, stamped in black versafine ink and clear embossed, rose covered with masking fluid and then sprinkled with black brusho powder. Once dry, die cut using an oval die and mounted onto a white card blank stamped with the gold embossed sentiment from loving sentiments.
I think this would be a suitable card for a lot of times, when you just need a general cheer-up card....
Crackling rose again for this one with masking fluid and brusho, this time torn round the edges befor sticking onto a dark blue background embossed with the crackle stamp and white embossed.
the greeting from loving sentiments was stamped and embossed with gold, die cut and edhes with more gold EP.
The final brusho one is again crackling rose, stmaped in black and clear embossed before colouring with brusho powders. It was fussy cut out and mounted onto a background using distress oxide inks, with the sentiment in black.
My final card features the floribunda net stamp, and as promised has no brusho!
I stamped with versamark onto craft card, and white embossed it, tore round the edges  and coloured the roses with marker pen, mounted onto black and gold card at an angle onto a base card randomly stamped in wild honey distress ink, with a gold embossed sentiment.
The roses were made from a Tim Holtz die using the same dull gold card used for the mat, with a darker gold for the leaves.

A Quartet of Flowers (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I have some floral projects to share with you today, that were featured on last month's TV shows on Hochanda. These cards were made using the individual floral stamps from the shows, and I used a range of techniques to create the cards.

For my first card, I coloured the background with Distress Ink, and then stamped over the top using a stamp from the Harlequin Fragments stamp set, again using Distress Ink. I stamped the Harlequin Bouquet individual stamp onto a die cut oval, using purple ink, and coloured the image using Distress Inks and a water brush. I added a sentiment to the background from the Loving Sentiments stamp set.

For my second card, I created a background using Brushos and kraft card. I stamped the Floribunda Net individual image onto another piece of kraft card, and embossed it using white embossing powder. I coloured the image using Brushos and a water brush. I stamped the setiment from the Loving Sentiments stamp set onto a smaller piece of kraft card, again using white embossing powder. I have inked the edges of each piece of card using red ink.

For my third card, I coloured the background again using Distress Inks, and used the Large Crackle Background for added texture. I cut a postcard sized piece of card, and stamped the Crackling Rose individual stamp, adding images from the Mail Art stamp set, to create a postcard effect. I created a small sentiment strip using words from the Loving Sentiments stamp set once again.

Long term viewers of the blog will have seen a rendition of this final project, which I remade for the TV show. I hope that you will not mind seeing it again, using the Flora Musica stamp set:

My Team mates have made some beautiful projects using these lovely stamps. Do keep checking back this month to see their designs. Thanks for stopping by, Judith xx

Floral Beauties (by Julie)

Hello, today I have two pretty floral cards to show you. These stamps are so easy to work with and make beautiful cards completely by themselves.

My first card is stamped with Harlequin Bouquet. I started by stamping the design in the centre of the card and colouring with Magic Pencils. To create the faded background, I inked up the Harlequin Bouquet with a very pale brown dye ink and stamped around the coloured image, before adding Distress inks over the top. I finished off the card with a sentiment from Loving Sentiments.

My second card is stamped with Flora Musica and made in a similar way to my first, however this time I stamped the main floral image onto separate card and cut out using a die cutting machine and an oval die, which I then mounted onto blue card.
The base card was stamped with Flora Musica and a very pale blue dye ink pad. I inked the edges with Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink and finished off with a sentiment from Loving Sentiments

Thanks for stopping by and please pop back very soon for more Design Team inspiration.

Crackling Rose Cards (by Anne)

Good morning. Today I am sharing a couple of cards made with the gorgeous Crackling Rose and Loving Sentiments stamp set. The lovely rose collage stamp is great for quick cards, just stamp and add a little colour and you’re done. It is also brilliant for incorporating into larger projects, for something extra special, and for home décor projects too. So many ideas and never enough time to make them all – tee hee.

Do check out more posts and projects using these lovely collage stamps from my talented Teamies.

I have used decorative papers to create quick and easy backgrounds. A great trick when in a hurry and a good way to use some of those pretty papers from your stash.

Materials for the yellow rose card:

How to make it:
  1. It is easy to make the card blank yourself by marking a 6 inch square on the card front (square 8 X 8 inch card) and cutting it only half way around on the right hand side. Score the top and bottom sections vertically in the centre of the card and fold back the cut half frame section.
  2. Colour the frame on the card front and the inside panel with Distress inks. Draw on the faux stitching and dot details, matching up the design when the card closes.
  3. Stamp the Rose and sentiment onto the decorative paper with Versafine ink and heat emboss with the clear powder. Colour with sparkle pens and a damp brush, adding a little white gouache to the rose for highlights. Colour around the rose background with a little dilute gouache to help the rose stand out more. Mat and layer onto the card front with purple and white card.
  4. Stamp the rose and sentiment onto the inside of the card with Versamark and emboss with gold powder. Colour with Distress Inks and a damp brush. Add some clear sparkle overlay pen for highlights. Draw some rain drops with the fine tipped pens.
  5. Finish with PVA pearls and Glossy Accents to make highlight rain drops on the inner panel.

Materials for the blue rose card:

How to make it:
  1. Randomly stamp the card front with the pearlescent ink and the rose stamp.
  2. Stamp the rose and sentiment onto the decorative paper with Versafine and heat emboss with clear powder.
  3. Colour with Distress Ink and sparkle pens, dragging out and blending colour with a damp brush. Add a little opaque white paint for highlights. Add a wash of Distress Ink around the rose to make it stand out more from the background. Glue to the card front.
  4. Add faux stitching with the white pen.
  5. Finish with PVA pearls and a little glitter glue for sparkle.

Gilded Ornament (by Asha)

Hello everyone. Are you having fun with the new Baroque Ornament stamps? They are absolutely gorgeous. I've got an easy card project to share with you, featuring the Palm Fan Silhouette Baroque Ornament stamp.  It is a luxurious blend of spice and gold and full of eastern promise.

I prepared the back ground with Distress Inks. Then, I stamped the ornament design 3 times and heat embossed them in gold. After fussy cutting them in one piece, I adhered it over the prepared card base with foam tape.

The greeting is from Loving Sentiments A5 stamp sheet.

I had so much fun with this project. I hope you'll give it a go too. Over at my blog I've got details of tools and products. And don't forget to swing by often for more crafty inspiration from the rest of the team. Thank you for stopping by and have a lovely day!

Beijinhos,
Asha

Pan Pastel favourites (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I have two cards to share with you today, using a couple of old favourite stamp sets; Butterfly Dreams and Loving Sentiments. These two stamp sets contain stamps that I like to use time and time again, and they have been faithful friends over the years. I have chosen to use a couple of the smaller stamps to create backgrounds, using Pan Pastels to colour my card first, and then stamp the images over the top. This always seems to give a lovely crisp impression.

For my first card, I have used some linen textured card, and shades of green and purple to colour the background, before stamping the leaf image using olive and plum over the top. I coloured a smaller piece of card in the same way, and stamped a sentiment over the top. I added burgundy card as a matting layer for the linen card.

I chose a piece of smooth card to colour with the purple shades of Pan Pastel, and then stamped a butterfly from the stamp set over the top. I cut the image out, and added some flower stamens to replace the antennae.

For my second card, I coloured a piece of smooth card with turquoise Pan Pastel, and then stamped another leafy image over the top with Teal coloured ink. Using Versamark Ink, I stamped the large flourish, and added a dark blue Pan Pastel to the image.

I coloured another smaller piece of card with the turquoise Pan Pastel as before, and stamped a sentiment. I added a few flat-backed gems to finish.
Thanks for stopping by, Judith xx
