Fifteen Minute Cards

Hello everyone, we have some more creative projects to share with you today that only take a few moments to make. We hope to show you with our simple and time-saving projects, that you can make some really eye-catching cards and tags in a very short amount of time. So, make yourselves comfortable, and take a look at the fabulous projects that the Design Team have created for you this month.

Rachel has created two amazing cards using the Here be Dragons stamp set. She has used stencils and Distress Inks for the backgrounds, and she coloured her images using water based markers.

Asha has created two very pretty cards using white embossing, adding Distress Inks to paint the images.

Magda has povided some gorgeous nautical projects this month, just perfect for the Summer. The first project is a set of three ATC's:

Anne's floral cards are so different, both using the oval cling mounted individual flower stamps. She has created two beautiful designs for us:

Here is a collection of cards from Brenda. The first is a card created by using three colours of Distress Ink on the base of her card, and she then used a baby wipe to drag some of the colour. The focal image is from the Butterfly Flourish Swirls stamp set, which she stamped in Black Archival Ink. She then bleached some of the colour from the image, and coloured it with Brushos.

For her second card, she stamped the swirl from the same stamp set as above, using a purple dye ink. The panel was mounted onto silver mirri card, and a few silver gems were added.

For her third card, she stamped the Cornflower image using Archival Ink, and heat embossed the details using clear embossing powder. She coloured the image using sparkle pens. Using Distress Inks and a honeycomb stencil, she spomged the background and inked the edges. She added some ribbon and co-ordinating card to may and layer the background.

For her final card, she used an acetate stencil to sponge Distress Inks and then stamped the sentiment from the Words of Inspiration stamp set, using Archival Ink. She then added some random flourishes using Distress Ink.

Zoe has created some beautiful butterfly themed cards for us this month. The first uses a panel of coloured butterflies:

Seaside Dreams (by Julie)

Hello and thank you for stopping by. Today I have a quick card which uses a simple masking technique along with the shells from Seaside Dreams

I inked up the shells and by the sea sentiment with blue Versafine and stamped directly onto the card blank. Then you will need a supply of sticky notes to use as masks. Decide where you want to place the cut down versions of the main design, mask off the area with the sticky notes and stamp the image. For this card I used brush markers to colour the design.

I filled in the gaps with the "Let your dreams set sail" sentiment and created a frame from blue card-stock. I decided I didn't want to keep the bright white of the card blank so aged it a little bit with Old Paper Distress ink.

Countdown to Christmas? (by Lesley Ebdon)

Hello again,

Well, this month has gone by in a bit of a blur and I'm sharing my final project for this time round.  As always there is a step by step over on my own blog if you would like more detail.

As we are well over halfway through the year and Christmas will be sneaking up on us before we know it, I decided to create an MDF Christmas Heart.  I love making these and sometimes prefer to give them to close family or friends instead of a card, especially if I know what their Christmas decoration colour combination is.  All the stamps I used are from the Steampunk Christmas A4 set and as always, there are some beautiful designs.  I have used the poinsettia, snowflake tree and words sooooo many times on Christmas makes.

This project uses relatively simple techniques, mainly gold and silver heat embossing (always magical ;D) and just needs a little extra care and patience especially when using the snowflake tree to create the background.

It's summer, read more (by Dominike)

Hello everyone, remember at the beginning of this month, I introduced a new Art Journal with coffee filters.
The filters are just a part of my journal. I made tags too.
Summer is the time of our grandchildren. Last month, I bought a new book for my grandson Louis, 5 years old, Heu-reux ! by Christian Voltz. The beautiful story of Grobull, the king who wants to mary his son Jean-Georges with the most beautiful cow of the kingdom. But the prince does not want to be married to any cow, he preferes Hubert, the ram. The most important thing for him is to be HAPPY!

There are beautiful illustrations and I decided to make them with Louis. He is still little so I cut the bodies and Louis chose the eyes, the jewels and all the décorations. The horns are cherry stalks.

The backgrounds of the tags are made with brushos, the stamps are Chocolate Baroque : Summer Fair, Tangled Birch, Exquisite Owls.

Souvenez-vous en début de mois, je vous présentai mon nouvel Art journal réalisé avec des filtres à café. Mais ceux-ci n'étaient qu'un élément du journal, le reste étant réalisé avec des tags.

L'été est souvent consacré aux petits-enfants. Le mois dernier j'ai acheté pour mon petit fils Louis, 5 ans, le magnifique livre de Christian Voltz, Heu-reux ! C'est l'histoire de Grobull, le roi qui veut marier son fils Jean-Georges à la plus belle vache du royaume. Or le Prince refuse toutes les prétendantes et veut épouser Hubert, le bélier.
Les illustrations sont très belles et très inspirantes. J'ai donc décidé de les réaliser avec Louis. Comme il est encore petit, j'ai coupé les corps et il s'est chargé des yeux, des bijoux et des décorations. Ainsi les cornes sont faites avec des queues de cerise.

Les fonds sont réalisés avec les brushos et les tampons sont des Chocolate Baroque : Summer Fair, Tangled Birch and Exquisite Owls.

Italian Summer (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I hope that you are enjoying the Summer projects that my team mates are creating this month. Summer always makes me think of holidays to favourite places, and one of my favourite haunts is Italy. We have recently returned from a week's holiday in Lake Garda, and so it was easy to choose which stamps I should use for my Summer related project....

I started my design by covering my gelli plate with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink, using a brayer, and then laying a piece of smooth card over the top. This is a really quick way of creating a coloured background. I added a crackle finish, using the large crackle stamp from the Echoes of Italy stamp plate, using second generation stamping. I used the large decorative design along the bottom to create a border, and then edged the background with Wild Honey Distress Ink to add some shading.

I stamped the main image onto a rectangular panel, and coloured it with water based markers and a water brush. I drew a few birds by hand with a permanent fine tipped marker. I stamped the sentiment onto a smaller panel, and added a bit of colour to the background using a blending foam. All of the panels were matted onto dark brown card before I assembled the card.

Blue Dream ( by Magda)

I like snorkelling among the fishes and swimming underwater as being  in a blue dream, therefore the project for this summer month is inspired by this theme.

Step by Step :
1.  Draw the face of the stencil Julie Fei-Fan Balzer  in your  Dylusion Creative Journal with a black
     Fude ball pen 
2.  Prepare your own wave stencil for the background and colour  the waves with  
     Salty Ocean of Tim Holtz Mini Distress Inkpad      all around the face
3.  Blend other blue and green Mini Distress Inkpad shades on the waves to create the sea
4.  Add a very light gesso coat all over the sea and let it dry
5.  Decide how to make the hair and apply randomly with the pad Faded Jeans and Blueprint Sketch
     of Mini Distress Inkpad
6.  Colour the face with Pan Pastel 
7.  Stamp with Versafine Onyx Black several fish of the set Something Fishy in the hair and the little
     mermaid silhouette of Mermaid Queen set as earring
8.  Colour the fish with watercolour pencils
9.  Use Stickles Star Dust to highlight
10. Stamp and glue your sentiments.

Super Steampunk (by Lesley Ebdon)

Hello again everyone, time for my second post for this month and this time I've used the pretty awesome Steampunk Butterfly set to create an MDF plaque.

I've used acrylic chalk paints, texture paste, Antiquing Cream, gilding paste and Archival Ink on the plaque with rusty metal bits raided from my stash.  The fab butterfly is painted with water based metalic paints.

Summer T-Shirt (by Anne)

Good morning. I hope that you like my summer themed project. I decided to revamp a plain T shirt top with foliage and butterflies.

Materials:

• Wild Meadow, Butterfly Blush and Just Butterflies stamp sets
• Iron fix fabric paints (green, lime, metallic turquoise, pink, violet, blue, black) and glitter glue for fabric (green/gold)
• Light coloured smooth knit T-shirt (turquoise)
• CutNDry foam, water spritzer bottle
• Waste copy paper

Note: If you want to stamp onto a darker coloured fabric you will need to use opaque fabric paints specially formulated for dark fabric.

How to do it:

Prewash the shirt in plain soap to remove any fabric treatments or conditioners (I use ordinary dish washing liquid). Dry and iron to give a smooth stamping surface.

Load the paints onto the CutNDry foam and work in well with a palette knife. Place them sponge side down onto a palette (I used a piece of waste packaging) and lightly spritz with water to keep them damp. While not using I also place a damp cloth over the top. This keeps the paints useable while working on your project.  I have found this to be the best method for getting nice crisp stamping without paint clumping or drying out. They will even keep overnight if placed in a plastic bag.

Stamp the butterfly silhouettes onto copy paper and cut out to create masks for stamping. Wash stamps immediately after use.

Lay some plastic sheeting inside the shirt to protect any paint from seeping through layers (i.e. front to back) while stamping. I placed my glass mat inside the shirt while working. Stamp the butterfly silhouettes with multi colours. Dry. A hair dryer is useful to help speed up the drying process while working (the paints do dry quite quickly).

Stamp the butterfly details over the top of the silhouettes using black paint.

Stamp the foliage using paper masks to protect the butterfly images.

Leave overnight for the paints to fully cure and then iron fix the paints on the reverse to make them permanent and washable.

Summer Fairy Magic (by Asha)

Good morning! It's my turn to bring you a Summer inspired project ... and my fifth Art Journal Page. It is getting to be quite an obsession - one that I feel compelled to share with all of you!

For this page, I've pulled out 3 stamp sets by Chocolate Baroque: Sunny Sunflowers, Summer Fairy Collection and Texture Fragments.

Recipe:
1. Apply gesso to the page and when completely dry, lay down the background with acrylic paints.
2. While that is drying, stamp out the sunflowers and leaves from the Sunny Sunflowers sheet and colour with Distress Inks.
3. Using a stamp from the Texture Fragments sheet, stamp all over the background with Dandelion Archival Ink.
4 Cut out flowers, leaves and hand-drawn stems. Adhere to the page using gel medium.
5. Stamp the fairy from the August Fairy sheet with Archival Black Ink.
6. Add interest to the page with the swirly stencil and Texture Paste.
7. Stamp the title with Archival Black Ink. The word "summer" is from the June Fairy sheet.
8. To finish the project: sprinkle watered down gesso and add a little glitter.

Seashore by Veronica

Our theme this month is summer, which to be honest is really what you would expect!
My first thought was to use some of my favourite poppy stamps, but they have had a lot of use, so I went for seaside.
My first card uses stamps from seashore scenes, and I tried to create a slightly different scene.
The seagull was stamped first using black versafine ink,, then masked with masking tissue and the scene stamped over him - I didn't ink the stamp all the way to the bottom, as I wanted it to be background. The dunes at the front were stamped using the larger sand/grass stamp stamped several times to form foreground dunes.
Dunes and stump were coloured with alcohol markers, bird and everything else with watercolour pencils..
Base card is 15cm square, stamped with the sentiment several times to form a background using a pale brown inkpad. The scene was matted onto black and gold card.

My second card used the something fishy set of stamps, and the main image was stamped in black versafine, then the larger fish image added beside it.
Simply coloured with watercolour pencils, and glossy accent added to the bubbles from the shell.
Base card this time is A6

My teamies have some smashing ideas to show you, so keep checking, you won't be disappointed!

Wow, where is this year going???  I can't believe it's 6 months since it was last my turn as a 'part-timer' on the blog and here we are over half way to (dare I say it) Christmas!

Anyway, today I have a very feminine card to share with you using a colour combination I love but rarely use.  I've used some of the fabulous DecoArt Antiquing Cream, acrylic chalk paints and Archival Ink for stamping.

The background is created with a selection of chalk acrylic paints scraped on randomly with a credit card, followed by stencilling and a little stamping.  The roses are coloured with the same paints plus a few highlights of Inktense Pencils.

As always there are more details of how I created my card over on my own blog and I'd love to see you over there but the stamps I used are Crackling Rose, another rose from the Harlequin Rose A4 set, small swirl stamp from Artistic Affirmations and sentiment from Words of Inspiration.

Seashell Collage (posted by Claire)

Good morning, Claire here with a card made using one of my old favourite stamp sets, Seashell Collage.. I envy the seagulls the beautiful view, it's definitely been perfect weather to enjoy the seaside.

I began by stamping and masking the focal image before creating the sea using a brayer that had been inked and rolled over crumpled paper. I removed the mask, coloured the images with my Graph'it markers and then inked in the sky using a mask. To create the impression of the posts through the water, just extend the colouring a little using slightly softer shades of brown.

I stamped the sentiment using archival ink and added some string and some embellishments that I d stamped and coloured.  The edges were inked with Vintage Photo distress ink and I've popped the topped on a kraft card blank.

Good morning Lovelies, I hope your enjoying your summer so far, it seemed like a long time coming this year!

This months theme for Chocolate Baroque DT blog is "Summer/Sunshine" I've gone more with Summer evenings.

My first card I used a heavy stamping card and sprinkled with Brusho's, I liberally spritzed with water holding up and letting it run down then turning it to run the other way, I let it dry naturally, I started by stamping the Bullrushes from Owl edges in Onyx black Versafine inkpad, then using a green Versafine inkpad I stamped the pretty wild flowers from Floral Edges, I then stamped Woodland tree in Onyx black Versafine inkpad, I stamped the leafy edge stamp again from the Floral Edges set using Versamark inkpad and heat embossing using a sparkle copper Wow Powder, I also stamped and heat embossed in Gold sparkle Wow powder the leaves from the Woodland Tree set, the sentiment is See Beauty and the little birds are from Landscape Edges set

My second card is various Alcohol inks onto Yupo paper and blending solution, the stamps are from Patchwork Landscape, once my back ground was dry which only takes a minute or two I dusted with and Anti static bag and used Black Archival inkpad.

Seaside Dreams (by Julie)

Hello and welcome! I can't believe we are now in August...just where has this year gone? To try and capture the feel of Summer, even if it's not very summery where you are, we are featuring all things sunny and Summer this month, so I thought I would do a little project using the beach huts from Seaside Dreams

I started by inking up the beach huts and sentiment with grey Versafine and stamping onto watercolour card. Next I took a brush and applied a wash of plain water around the beach huts and then blended in liquid watercolour for the sand, sea and sky. To try and create some movement in the sea, I added Crystal Stickles and a white paint pen, with splodges of white Gesso for good measure. The beach huts were coloured with brush markers and the clouds were stencilled with Weathered Wood Distress ink. I cut a frame from some Kraft card, distressed the inner edges with scissors and stamped it with the wood grain/water effect stamp from Harlequin Fragments. I went over the frame with Walnut  Distress ink followed by a few dabs of Picket Fence Distress stain to finish.

It's summer (by Dominike)

Hello everyone, I am back with another Art Journal project made with coffe filters. After using the filter I washed it and let it dry.
It became brown and I was able to stamp on it the Summer Fair image.
Then I coloured the stamp with watercolours and a little brush.
I will need at least four filters, one per month and a lot of tags to obtain a beautiful book. I will put objects in each pocket to remember what happens each month.

Me voici de retour avec un autre Journal d'art réalisé à partir de filtres à café.

Après usage, je lave le filtre puis le fais sécher. Il est alors devenu marron.

Je tamponne mon personnage, que je mets en couleurs avec les aquarelles et un pinceau à réservoir d'eau.

J'en utiliserai au moins 4, 1 par mois et de nombreux tags pour obtenir un beau livre. Dans chaque pochette je mettrai des objets pour me souvenir des choses importantes du mois.

Passez un bel été. Un peu chaotique en ce qui concerne le temps par chez nous mais cela va s'arranger.
