Lazy Summer Day (by Asha)

Good morning, fellow Chocoholics! I'm back with another crafty inspiration showcasing the fab August release stamps. Today I'm playing with the Honeysuckle Butterfly A5 sheet.

I started by heat embossing the butterfly from the Honeysuckle Butterfly A5 sheet using white EP. Next I inked the background, blending Distress Inks in several shades of yellow. Over the butterflies, I dabbed a darker shade of orange to make them pop. Then I carefully stitched down a layer of vellum. This softens the background and gives it depth too.

For the foreground, I stamped the stalk of daisies from the Honeysuckle Butterfly set on white CS, coloured it with alcohol markers, fussy cut and adhered it over the vellum. The sentiment is from Birthday Words

I also stamped a couple of butterflies from the same A5 set onto vellum and fussy cut those too.
(A full description of the inks and colours used in this project is available on my blog).

Thank you for stopping by today. Please drop in regularly to see more inspirational work from the rest of the Design Team.

Beijinhos,
Asha

  6. That's a super effect with the vellum over the background & the stitching adds a lovely touch of both texture & definition. I particularly like your use of the orange over the background butterflies - the blue top butterflies really look as if they are hovering & that's a lovely touch with the bottom right one looking as if he's flown onto the card. The green & white of the daisy provides a lovely fresh contrast.

  8. Gorgeous, great idea to stitch the vellum rather than trying to hide the glue :)

  9. A lovely card with a delicate quality about it. The vellum mutes the colours nicely, and I love the white butterflies in the background and the beautifully coloured and cut out daisies which are a particular favourite of mine. The vellum butterflies work really well too. x
