Song Thrush in two variations (by Miranda)

Hi there,

Today I show you you two creations made with the lovely Song Thrush stamp. It's also available in a silhouette variation
On the background which I've made with fluid inks(like Ecoline) and water misting I've used the beautiful Sunny Sunflowers. I stamped them with Distress inks and a white ink too. The center is accentuated with glitter. The bird panel is embossed with Wow silver embossingpowder and coloured with water based markers. If you don't have markers than you can use the fluid inks or the Distress inks and a water brush to color the image.
I've embossed a flower and some leaves from the sunny sunflowers and decoupaged them.

The other one is made on a background made by our 9 year old son. He pretty much enjoys it to get messy and play with inks and water. ( like his mother) He coloured also the first layer of the bird panel  with pencils and I did finish it by shading and a more intense coloring. I stamped the fragment of the Lace fragments onto the background and also embossed some using the fabulous Wow Sensational Sage embossing powder. It really is sensational! It's a shame that I can't catch it on the photo.

Well, hope to have inspired you! Thanks for your visit, please ask if you have any questions and hope to see you next time!

  1. Wat mooi! Doet me denken aan van die mooie zware fluwelen stoffen die voor gordijnen en kussens gebruikt worden en die vind ik ook heel mooi! Fijn weekend, Gerrina

  6. The sunflowers are a super match for that panel & I particularly like the way your background is echoed by the decoupaged single flower which draws the eye to the flower above it on the bird panel. It's quite amazing to realise that it's the same panel that you've used for the second sample which is my favourite of the two - your combination of intensely patterned overstamped areas with the 'open spaces' of vibrant colour is striking. The shading your son's colouring of the focal panel combined with the absolute white of the panel itself makes for a very eye-catching design - I particularly like the way your highlights of the panel's petals are echoed by the glittery embossing of the background. Your masterstroke of deep purple matting bringing out the deep bluey berries gladdens my heart making it sing & smile! That may of course be black in real life but it looks purple/indigo.

  15. Both of these cards are beautiful Miranda, and what a talented son you have. I love the contrast of dark background and light background on the toppers. The colours are all beautiful and the Song Thrush stamp is really lovely and the added sunflower and leaves enhances the first card perfectly. That second card background in those gorgeous greens and yellows and the prettily coloured topper helped along by your son's artistic hand is wonderful too. I just could not choose a favourite! x

  17. Two really beautiful cards Miranda, hard to choose between the two. I love the softer colours of the first and Sunny Sunflowers makes such a beautiful backing. The combination of the silvery embossing and exquisite colouring is perfect. How brilliant your son was involved in the second. I love to think that card is a joint effort between you both, that is special! I love the colour combinations on that card, it feels like it captures the essence of fresh, new spring growth and as Paula said the indigo matting blends in so beautifully. Your son's colouring is incredibly accurate for his age and his Mum's shading adds that little something special! What a gift you are helping him to develop! Hope you are having a good weekend.
