Fabric Journal Pages (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I have a final Autumn project to share with you this month, and decided to mix up some of my old favourite stamps to create a couple of pages in my journal. I created these pages using lightweight cotton fabric and used iron on interfacing to attach the pieces to my journal pages.

I coloured the fabric with water-based inks, and then stamped all of the images with Archival Ink. I frayed the edges of the fabric, before adding the interfacing, as it is much harder to do this afterwards.

I  have chosen lots of Autumnal stamps from my favourite sets: Autumn Poppy, Essence of Nature, Nature's Peace, Autumn Fairy Collection, Words of Wisdom, Woodland Design a Tree, and used rich, warm colours that remind me of the season. I hope that I have given you some ideas that you could carry into cardmaking if you do not want to try a bit of journalling yourself, as you could easily use these colours and images to make some beautiful cards.

Toadstool Fairy (by Debbie)

 

 

My card is made using the Toadstools from Autumn Poppy

 and a Fairy from August Fairy.

 

 

I started with stamping the toadstools onto the card and also onto paper to use as  masks.

The toadstools were coloured with alcohol pens. I cut a mask for the moon and placed it high so that the sentiment could be stamped over it later and the masks were laid over the toadstools

I haven't used my soft brushes for a while so I applied the ink with them as I wanted a soft blue

although it's a darker blue ink.

A little more colour was added to the base of the toadstools to ground them.

The masks were removed and the fairy and wording was stamped with Onyx Black Versafine.

I like the Versafine as it gives a good coverage with solid stamps.

Summer Fairies in Greens & Blues (by Shirley)

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well. 

I have a few designs to show today using the beautiful Summer Fairies Collection.     

The first design above features the beautiful fairy and butterfly from July Fairy and the Freesia from June Fairy.  The sentiment is from Fairyland Words.
 
I blended Peacock Feathers Distress Ink at the top and Mowed Lawn on the bottom of the background.  I used a ripped piece of cardstock to vary the shades.  I also used Mustard Seed Distress Ink with a piece of cardstock with a circle cut out as a mask for the sun,  which I also outlined with a white Gelly roll pen.    The Freesia was stamped with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.

The rest of the stamping was done with Cobalt Archival Ink and the colouring with Intense pencils.   The butterfly is decoupaged and popped up.  I also used lots of stickles on the fairy wings and a little on the butterfly.  I added holograph glitter with a glue pen on her dress.

This next design above features one of the silhouette fairies, vine & miniature sunflower from June Fairy along with flowers from Sunny Sunflowers (which compliment the Summer Fairies very well). 

The large background above was created with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink using the Acrylic Block technique.   I also stamped the Vine and Freesia with Mowed Lawn DI.

The smaller background above was created with Mustard Seed DI using the Acrylic Block technique.  The flowers were stamped with Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks.  The Fairy was stamped with black Archival Ink.  I bleached her wings and added Diamond Stickles.

The little flowers and leaves were coloured with Distress Inks as well.  I highlighted with a white Gelly roll pen.    The flourish are die cut using Crealies CL CS 02.

The third and last design today features the beautiful August Fairy and the mushroom from November Fairy.    Joy is from Artistic Expressions.

The background was created using Lemon, Calypso Teal & Cut grass Dylusions Inks.   I spritzed with water and then sprinkled course sea salt.   After letting it dry & shaking off the salt,  I stamped the images with Cobalt Archival Ink.   I bleached out the colour from all the images and then painted with Dylusions Inks (on my craft mat, using water & brush).   When everything was dry I outlined with a white Gelly roll pen and added stickles to her wings.

A little bit of Summer (posted by Judith)

Hi Folks, I have some samples to show you today showcasing the Summer Fairy Collection unmounted stamp set. This set is full of lovely fairy images, and some great floral images as well.

My first card uses one of the large silhouette fairies, which I have placed on an inked background, made using Distress Inks. I chose several colours which I blended across the page, and then placed a leafy stencil over the top, and used the same colours again to stipple colour through the stencil. I added some deeper colour around the edges of the background to create a frame, and then stamped the trailing ivy across the top of the page, using a navy blue ink. I added a border around the bottom half of the card, using a tree stamp taken from the Fantasy Woodland stamp set. The two trees are a stamp from the same stamp set. I added some shading underneath the trees using a paper mask, and a toning green ink. I stamped the silhouette fairy, and the little butterfly, which comes from the Autumn Fairy stamp set, using Versafine ink.

I added some glitter glue to the fairy and butterfly wings for a little bit of sparkle.

My second card uses a couple of the flower stamps from the collection to create a fairly clean and simple card. I cut a rectangle of smooth watercolour paper, and stamped the freesia stamp at the bottom of the card. I covered the image with a mask so that I could stamp the image again on either side of the original image.

I coloured the silhouette freesia stamp with Distress Markers, blending several colours, and stamped the background with the mask in place. I placed the mask on top of each freesia image in turn, so that I did not stamp over them. I then coloured the three freesia images with Distress Markers and a waterbrush.

I matted the picture onto a piece of dark green card, and then placed this onto a larger square of light green card, adding some orange and green ribbon to my main image. I added three Crealie butterflies to the large background.

My last card was created using lots of masking again, and a hand cut stencil. You can buy Stencil Blanks from the website and cut your own stencils very easily.

I used one of the large fairies from the collection, which I stamped and masked off, before stamping poppies from the Poppy Meadow stamp set. I then masked these flowers and stamped the little silhouette flower from the same set. I added the stencil and coloured the sun rays using Distress Inks, before inking the remaining sky with blue. I have added a shimmer spray over the top.

I have coloured the fairy and flowers with Distress Markers. The two tiny butterflies are half of a butterfly stamped twice, taken from the Spring Fairy stamp collection. I simply covered half of the stamp with masking tape before I inked it up, then removed the masking tape before I stamped it onto the page. I have decoupaged them, and added glitter glue to their wings. The sentiment is taken from the Fairyland Words clear stamp set.

Guest Post: Gilded Fairy by Karen

I am pleased to welcome you to our second guest blog post, which this week is from Karen Liddle. Her card features the October Fairy from our Autumn Fairy Collection and she has kindly written a set of easy to follow step by step instructions. Karen has her own blog called Cakes, Cards and Crafty Bits and I would recommend you pay her a visit for more inspiring designs.

Materials used:
October Fairy Stamp
Acetate
Double sided adhesive sheet
Gilding Flakes
Black ink pad
6x6 square card blank
Card for matt and layering

1.  Cut a piece of double sided adhesive sheet a little bigger than the stamp you'll be using and peel away one side of the protective backing and stamp your image onto the sticky side. You can stamp onto the acetate if you prefer, but I prefer to stamp onto the sticky side of the sheet as there's less chance of slipping with the stamp.

2.  Place your acetate over the adhesive sheet and over the stamped image,  press it down firmly and trim to required size.

3.  Peel away the other side of the protective backing on the double sided adhesive sheet and cover with gilding flakes. Gently rub off the excess flakes. Your topper is now ready to add to your card.

4.  Take the card blank and cut your mat and layering card to the required sizes.

5.  Stamp and heat emboss the left hand side using another of the stamps from the set.  Add the acetate topper and you're done.

Have a Fairy Happy Birthday! (posted by Judith)

Hi Folks, here's a project for you using stamps from the new Spring Fairy Collection stamp set combined with some older favourites. I wanted to create a gift set that comprised of a card, gift tag and matching wrapping paper, using soft pastel tones. I picked five shades of Memento Ink, and created a background on my tag, and a large piece of white card. I stamped the fairies and butterflies using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. The extra fairies and buterflies are from the Winter Fairy and Autumn Fairy stamp sets.

For the tag, I added a sprinkling of glitter on the butterfly wings and the trail of stars. The sentiment comes from the Fairyland Words clear stamp set. For the card, I added some clouds from the Magical Landscapes/Fantasy Castles Multibuy stamp set and a flower from the Decadent Brocade stamp set, which has been decoupaged. I have added some die cut leaves, and a sentiment as before.The wrapping paper was created using the same stamps as the tag, stamped with each of the ink colours, graduating across the paper.

Frosty Fairy (posted by Judith)

Hi Folks, here is a Wintery sample for you using the Winter Fairy stamp collection. I stamped the main fairy onto a piece of white card, and then created a mask which I placed over the image. I stamped some mushrooms from the Autumn Fairy collection and then created masks for those as well. I made some paper masks for the hills, by tearing some scrap paper, and sponged various shades of green across the background. Fnally, I used some blue ink to create a sky, adding a circle mask to create a sun.

I added some yellow in the circle area for the sun, and embossed some trees using white embossing powder. I then removed the masks and coloured the stamped images using Graph it markers. To finish, I added some glitter glue along the edges of the hills and to highlight the mushrooms.

To create the background, I embossed some snowflakes from the Reindeer Landscape stamp set using white embossing powder, and then covered the background with blue ink. I used a sentiment from the Winter Fairies stamp set, and added some blue organza ribbon and some gems to finish.

Hi Folks, I have a project to show you using the gorgeous new Winter Fairy Collection stamp set. Around this time of year, we have lots of thank yous to send, and so I decided to make a gift wallet containing some thank you cards, using lots of the fairy images from both this stamp set and the Autumn Fairy stamp set.

I started my project by cutting some paper masks from scrap paper and inking through the masks with a variety of inks onto plain white card cut to size.

I blended the colours as I graduated down the area that I was shading to get a soft blend. I removed the mask and stamped one of the fairies from the stamp plate over the shaded area. On each card, I added a sentiment taken from Words of Gratitude or Pretty Poppies stamp sheets. I added black matting to the cards to tie in with the stamping.

I cut two pieces of black card 21cms x 19.5cms.  I then scored 1.5cms at one end of each piece, and overlapped them, sticking them together at this point. I scored 2.5cms at each outer edge, and 2.5cms along the bottom, cutting out a gap where the overlap occurred along the bottom. I trimmed the bottom edges slightly at each of the four ends. I folded the sides and the bottoms inwards, and secured the outer corners with glue or double sided tape.

 I placed a piece of ribbon across the middle of the front of the folder before sticking on the front design. I actually used two pieces of ribbon, a shorter piece on the right, and a longer piece on the left to wrap right around the back.

Another Fairy by Miranda

Hello there,

I've got another creation made with the lovely Fairies for you.......you can find this Fairy on the 'September fairies' and I've combined her with the beautiful 'Gothic elements' sheet.I've stamped on Basic Grey scrap paper and coloured with pencils.The wings are stamped on acetate and I've put some stickles on the backside. The 'hinges' are a die cut from Joy crafts.

Waterfall background (by Debbie)

Hello. Another Autumn Fairies card from me using a technique I hadn't used for a long time.

The background for my card is made using shaving foam and Dylusions spray inks. I had cut many pieces of card ready to dip into the foam. I used a large tray and sprayed my husbands shaving foam onto it. Next, I sprayed many small dots of Pure Sunshine and London Blue ink all over the foam then used a coffee stirrer to mix them together. I then laid the card onto the foam and gently pressed the back, gloves are a good idea as the ink stains your hands. Lift the card off and leave to dry. Many prints can be taken before the colours runs out or is to mixed. The foam will rinse away ready to have another play. This technique is great fun as you are never sure of the print that is made. Before stamping the Fairy from the October set I rubbed with kitchen paper to make sure there was no foam left on the card. I stamped the Fairy with Versamark ink and used Black Glint Wow embossing powder. Finally, I trimmed, mounted and added to the white base card. I hope this has inspired you to try a new technique. Autumn Fairy at Twilight

Good morning Claire here, I hope you're enjoying all the inspiration from my team mates, they've come up with some gorgeous projects with the new Autumn fairy stamps haven't they? Here is my first sample using these wonderful new stamps. this large fairy from October

I began by punching a moon from some masking tissue with a circle punch and popping it on my card. I used torn copier paper to mask the hills in the background (but if you subscribe to Glenda's Mojo Monday newsletter you'd be able to  use the fab free template for this technique, if you don't receive the email, click here to find out how you can receive it). I used an old shaving brush to add my ink to this project, I used various shades of blue and purple distress inks and build the colour up gradually. I find that lightly brushing with a shaving brush gives a slightly misty, diffused effect. I added the stamping with black archival ink using stamps from the Autumn Fairies collection.

Moonlit Fairies by Debbie

Hello. The leaves are definitely on the turn signalling cooler weather is on it's way. I love wandering through carpets of gold, red and brown. For this card I used the August, September Fairy from the Autumn Fairy DL stamps. Like the other Ladies on the CB DT I love the silhouette fairies.

With only Dusty Concorde Distress Ink and paper I created the background for the fairy. A circle for the moon and cut waves of paper for the mountains. I stamped the fairy with Versafine Onyx Black and added fern around the bottom of the image to give perspective to the scene. The backing paper was made using the fern from the set. Here are two similar cards using Stormy Sky and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks.

Blue Fairy delight by Miranda....

Hi there,

Today I have a creation with the new Autumn Fairy sheets for you.......I did feel a bit blue so......... created in blue shades. I've used the lovely cat image and several leaves and flowers which are also on the sheets. The trees are from the 'Terrific Treescapes clear sheet'. I've sponged first with pigment inks and added layers with different shades of blue.

The 2nd one has quit a different colourscheme.........I've landed on earth......... and used the lovely flower which is on the September Fairy sheet. I've blended with brown shades of Distress inks on smooth paper and after every layer I've stamped the flower with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. The first flower on the left has been stamped while the paper was still white, than I started with the lightest colour(Antique Linen) heat dried between every layer and build up to the darkest colour (Walnut Stain)
When finished I've misted with water and rolled over some kitchen towel to get the white spots. The text 'Time flies' is from the Steampunkery sheet.

Autumn Wishes (posted by Judith)

Hi Folks I have a card sample for you today, using the new Autumn Fairy unmounted stamp collection. I have chosen to use the lovely Art Nouveau style seed pods as a focal image for my design. I have coloured the image with Distress Markers and added two of the butterflies from the collection to complete the picture.

To create my background, I used Seedless Preserves, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed and Forest Moss Distress Inks, which I blended acrooss the card. I then took a mask, and used the same colours again, to deepen two of the corners. I stamped the large word 'Autumn' onto a tag shape, and matted this onto some olive coloured ribbon, using two large black brads, to echo the large black bubbles in the main design.

Autumn Fairies (by Shirley)

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well.

The new Autumn Fairy Collection designs are so beautiful and a joy to work with.   I have two cards today to show you using all three DL sets.    It looks like I'm on a 'blue theme' with these Fairies.

My background (above) started with texture using light molding paste with TCW - Cell Theory stencil and when dry, spraying Dylusions (purple & turquoise) inks.    I used images from all three Autumn sets, stamped with black Stazon Ink.   I masked the mushrooms, used bleach to remove the ink and added purple Dylusions.    I also added glitter around the texture.   The Fairy is from the September Fairy set which I stamped and embossed with black on separate card stock, decoupaged and adhered over the background.   I added pink stickles to her wings.   Wish upon a Star is from Words of Inspiration.

The background (above) is again using Dylusions spray inks (Midnight, Teal & Linen).   Using TCW - Circle Explosion stencil I sprayed more Linen ink.  I added a little pattern as well from TCW-Solace stencil using Shaded Lilac Distress Ink.    I stamped the bubbles from Decorative Edges with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.

I used Black Stazon Ink for the rest of the stamping and also highlighted with a white Gelly Roll Pen.  The mushrooms were bleached a little again.    The mushrooms, branches at the top & butterfly are from November Fairy and the Fairy is from September Fairy.   The interesting flower along the edges is from Poppy Meadow.  I painted the mushrooms and wings with Purple Dylusions & water.

Autumn Leaves

I love working with silhouettes and the new autumn fairies offer plenty of scope for that.

For this card I started ink shading with yellow ink  across white card. I then used the Solace stencil and shaded with Spiced Marmalade Distress Distress Ink. At this point it is essential to make sure your background ink is really dry before embossing the fairy image in a plum metallic EP. I then added some darker ink shading at the very edge and to ground the mushrooms! I used pencils to add a little more shading on the fairy wings and stamped the sentiment in Plum Archival ink. To finish I punched little leaves from copper metallic self adhesive paper and mounted the panel on to black card to add a little contrast.

Cat and Mouse (posted by Judith)

Hi Folks, I have another clean and simple Halloween card for you today, using the new Autumn Fairy stamp sheet. I made this card in the same way as my earler CAS sample, masking off the top and bottom of the card with Post it Notes. I punched a circle from masking tape to create a moon shape and placed this on the background. Using Distress Inks, I coloured the background using a sideways motion, blending the colours to create an night sky. I added lots of yellow and grey around the moon.

I stamped the large mushrooms from one of the fairy stamps, by masking off the part of the stamp that I didn't want to use before I inked up the stamp. I then added the fairy cat on top of the largest mushroom. I used the fairy mouse from the Bewitched Moonlight stamp sheet and drew connecting lines between the two sets of grasses with a permanent black pen, adding a couple of extra strands of grass. I have added white highlights on this card as in my previous sample, which is called the 'bandana technique'. Some bats and a sentiment finish the card.
