A gift of love (posted by Claire)

Good morning, Claire here with a little altered gift box made using the gorgeous new stamps Fluttering Hearts and  Punky Hearts, you can find them both here.

I began by painting the box with white gesso and then a layer of ivory acrylic paint. I stamped the heart background stamp from Punky Hearts with pink acrylic paint, I love to use paint to stamp as it gives some extra texture to your project. Once the paint was dry I used gold gilding wax around the edges, applying quite roughly for a shabby finish.

The heart on top of the box was a happy accident made by stamping into hot UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) with brilliance ink. I took some thick white card and applied versamark ink and layer of clear UTEE, heated and then applied another layer of clear. Once i'd heated this layer I added a layer of white UTEE and stamped into the hot mixture with Pink Brilliance ink. Unfortunately I moved the stamp and ended up with a bit of a mess but not wanting to give up, I blasted it with my heat gun again and stamped into it with black ink. creating a black impression on a pink/white background. I cut this out and again edged with gold gilding wax before wrapping with ribbon and popping it on top of my box.

To finish off I added gems and edged the side of the box with lace and ribbon.

thanks for visiting today

  9. Very striking with the black, pink & gold combination & I love your accenting of the flower centres, Isn't it lovely when a mishap creates something you'd not thought of. Your trim of the box & the gilding wax creates a very Victorian feel to this, especially with the shabby chic elements.
