Freesias Again (by Gerrina)

Today my last post for this month as a Guest Designer. I find the stamp set that I used last week so beautiful that I couldn't put it away before I stamped some more with it.

I used stamps from the beautiful Freesia Blueprint stamp set again.

First I stamped the beautiful blueprint stamp from the set, next I stamped the circle of flowers with the two small flower stamps from the set, (the 'worker stamps'). After that I stamped both the text and the two flower stamps twice. I drew one of the lines from the blueprint stamp all the way down and drew the lines around the text and the flowers. Then all that was left was the calming colouring of all the flowers.

Used materials:

Stamps: Freesia Blueprint

Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Lucky Clover and Peeled Paint.

Other: white aquarel paper, black marker, ruler and water brush.

Freesias and Memories... (by Gerrina)

Today my second post this month as a Guest Designer, so you can see my card here and on my blog as well. I used stamps from the beautiful Freesia Blueprint stamp set and got totally in a 'Zen-mood' by colouring the beautiful flowers and some of the blueprint stamps. The only thing I miss right now, is the lovely soft, a bit fresh and intoxicating smell from the freesias; that is one of the nicest fragrances that I know...It reminds me of one of my grandmas who not only liked the flowers, but also thought the smell of them was super...

The moment this set were released I knew I wanted to stamp with it, so I did not waste much time to do that when the post brought them...

Bright and Cheerful Flower (by Christine)

Hello everyone, today sees the first of three posts this month by our Guest Design Team member Christine Patch. She has created a colourful card to inspire you.

Christine writes:

May I start off by wishing you a very Happy New Year - let's keep our fingers crossed that it will be a considerable improvement on the year just finished, even if it might take a bit of time!

I decided to kick off my turn on the Blog with a very bright and cheerful design to be added to my journal.

I chose one of the designer papers and added some additional stamping to give it more detail. I used a Versafine Clair in a toning purple to add some butterflies and hatching.

Having picked one of the lovely postcards for a mat, the lovely large flower stamp allowed me to choose strong bright colours as decoration. I decided on Memento Tuxedo Black ink as I wanted to use Alcohol Pens for the colouring. I stamped two of the butterflies on white card and one on the same postcard for a point of difference. Glossy Accents added dimension to the bodies.

I found a wooden button in my stash that was the perfect colour and added that as an embellishment to the flower centre. I used the same flower stamp to edge the postcard and then the designer paper to bring it all together. Finally, I added a sentiment that I think is so pertinent to us all: Live life to your own design.

Very geometric...(by Miranda)

Hi there,

It's me again with another post with some geometric inspirations for you. When I saw these 4 'blueprint' sets, I could almost not choose which one to pick........Because the freesia flower was in my mums bridal bouquet it had to be that one.....she loved freesia's especially in times when they had that lovely scent.

I always love geometric shapes and it's great that some them are separate stamps on the sheet so you can als create your own design!

This is the 1st card....because these cards are not so labour intensive I have made some more.... This time I was inspired by the technique and colors Lesley used in one of her video's although I did not use the ink technique. And I was inspired by the blending background technique from Eileen Godwin.

now onto the 2nd card, same colors same technique......

I did stamp and blend using Distress ink Vintage photo and did some masking too to create my own design......

I took colour out of some  flowers and recolored using some pencils. Some accent lining with fineliner 0.2 mm.

And then I needed more color........so on to the 3rd one....

Here I have used Distress inks Twisted Citrus, Peacock Feathers and Salty ocean. Stamped the images using Versafine black. And some hints of color using colored pencils.

Well, I did not use much this time but I like the results....sometimes less is more....

Cornflower Blue by Brenda

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all remaining safe and well and coping during these strange times, today should have been our eldest Granddaughters wedding, then COVID-19 came along, who could have foresaw such change in our lives. But there's always craft!!

Today I have a few more cards using the Blueprint stamps, starting with a blue and yellow creation, it's a colour palette I always enjoy working with. A Distress Oxide background created simply by dabbing ink onto a piece of acetate, spritzing with water and placing over the card giving a gentle rub on the back to release the ink. Then repeat the same process with the second colour, but this time bending the acetate to make contact with the card to get the colour exactly where you want it. 

Some stencilling using Strip Stencils and Wild Cornflower Blueprint Sketch stamped in Versafine Clair blue.

I used the smaller flowers from  all four sets here Freesia Blueprint, Sweet Pea Blueprint, Wild Cornflower Blueprint and Cala Lily Blueprinth stamping around the edges of the card and colouring in with pencils. I then used several of the sentiments from the same stamp sets and cut a circle to place in the middle.

Finally a soft yellow Distress Oxide background with a little pink as well, stamping around the edges with elements from Wild Cornflower Blueprint and then Sweet Pea Blueprint focally and coloured with pencils.

Mica Powder and Rice Paper (by Sandra)

I'm sharing a couple of projects with you today.

My first uses the Cala Lily Blueprint set. I stamped the image onto some black, glossy card with VersaMark and then gently brushed on different coloured mica powders with a small, soft brush. Once all the ink was covered I was able to buff with a soft tissue.

My second piece, I stamped one of the images from the Freesia Blueprint set onto rice paper.  I coloured the flowers and added some crackle from Echoes of Italy. I then used gel medium to adhere the rice paper to a wooden block. Once it was dry I added some Distress Ink to the edges.

Blueprint and butterfly Accordion by Rachel

Hello there! Its Rachel here today and I want to share two cards from the April shows with you today. You may have seen the second one on fb before the show but I thought I would show it here anyway.

The first card is the main event...its a 6 panael accordion card. To make this I added distress oxides and water  to my craft mat and made a large (A3) masterboard using a mop up technique. Once dry I cut this into 6 pieces each measuring 9cm by 13cm. There was plenty of card left over to be used another time. Each of these 6 pieces I then stamped an image on and coloured using water colour pencils. I also added some sentiments.

Here are the main 4 panels...

And the two panels that formed the back of the crd leaving room to write on two blank panels. The accordion itself was made by cutting an A3 piece of card in half along the short edge. This card was then folded in half and each half was folded in half again. 

This last card was made by simply inking through a stencil and then adding the stamped images on top - colouring was again by watercolour pencils.

concertina blueprints

 My turn today to show you something different using the lovely blueprint sets of stamps - I wanted to try to use as many of the stamps as I could and combine them with my current passion for concertina cards.

I started by using a sheet of 12x12 white card, and cut it into 4" wide strips. The background was created using splodges of peeled paint and broken china distress inks on to a craft mat, spraying with water and dragging the card through it. Needed repeating several times to cover all the card (well, mostly, i didn't worry about the blank bits)




Once it was all dry, I scored the strips at 4" intervals to create the pages, and cut one strip down to 2 panels to use to fix the other strips together 



Then I stamped some of the  smaller technical images randomly using mostly the blue ink, but a few with the green. I also used some of the stamps from make your mark as well.   


             
The main images were stamped using black versafine ink and clear embossed, then coloured with watercolour pencils or watercolour paints.
Some extra images were decoupaged , and sentiments added as well.

 Hopefully you are all managing ok so far, and keeping well and safe - and sunshine does help to make me at least feel better , so I wish you all have sunshine to brighten your days.

Lily triptych by Brenda

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and safe.

I have some more cards to share using the Blueprint Sketch collection of stamps and my first uses the beautiful Cala Lily Blueprint. I created a triptych style base card using a scoreboard and border die, Distress Oxides on the panels and random stamping using elements from Rustic Fragments, the stamping the focal elements with Versafine Clair and adding some colour with watercolour pencils. The Butterfly on the front is Patchwork Butterfly.

The background on this one is brayered acrylic paint, Freesia Blueprint stamped focally and white picket fence Distress Marker used to colour it. I used the lattice from Rustic Fragments around he edge stamping with gesso to achieve a textured finish.

The Magnolia from Happy Flower Day has been stamped onto a Gelli Plate background and the main bloom stamped a second time, coloured and decoupaged.

Repeat stamping and some pottery by Rachel

Hello there! Rachel here today with some samples from the April shows. These samples include some repeat stamping to create a border in the first card and more to create the whole thing on the second card...

In this first one I used a gelli print made using inks and then added the stamping of the butterflies and the small bud from the freesia blueorint set. I coloured both of these in water colour pencils.

This next card was again onto a gelli print - but this was a second generation print that was really pale. To creat this I stamped the sigle Cala lily first at 12 o clock, then turned my card 90 degrees to repeat the stamping at 3 o clock, then 6 o clock and then 9 o clock. Once I had got these in place I added the extra two in between each stamped image. Finally I coloured the flowers in using ink which I also splattered on to the corners of the card. Finally I added a sentiment!

Finally a piece of pottery - this was stamped in ink and then coloured in glaze as usual.

Pretty in Pink (by Kim)

Hello everyone, today sees the first of three blog posts this month by Kim Shaw, who is joining our Guest Design Team. Kim will be known to you already, as she regularly makes TV samples for our shows on Hochanda. Kim has created a pretty floral card for your inspiration.

Kim writes:

How is everyone coping in this strange new way of living we find ourselves?

As I write this life is very unknown- will my place of work survive? I work for a Charity Heritage Railway in Peterborough. We have had to close our doors given all that is going on- so that is very worrying. I find turning to craft will be one of the ways forward to seek some solace and calm my wandering thoughts!

I made this card today using Chocolate Baroque's wonderful Freesia Blueprint set- such a beautiful flower in real life with a lovely fragrance, and speaks of pleasant sunny days and happy times.

This card is on an 8x8 card base - I used a white layer measured at 7.5 x 7.5, for stamping on and then mounted on to a piece of red card measured to 7.75 x 7.75 (all measurements are inches).

On the white layer I first used a circular mask- you could use a stencil or paper with a circle cut out. I found a size that enabled me to make it as though it was a snapshot of the focal point of the main flower.

I then used Spun Sugar Distress Ink and with a soft brush built the colour up in several layers- lifting the stencil/mask to check my progress until there was enough colour to my satisfaction. Once I was happy with the level of colour I then stamped my focal image through the stencil/mask and then carefully removed the stencil, using Black Versafine- I find that Versafine brings the delicate lines of the image right out.

My next step was to colour in the flowers- I am a lover of Faber Castell as they just suit me- however you could just use any medium of your choice or indeed watercolour paints. I gently built the layers of colour slowly and steadily until I was happy with my focal image.

My next step was to stamp the corner with the stamp set is the ideal selection of a section of a protractor perfect for the job in hand. I used the same Spun Sugar, but this time in Oxide Ink- this complemented perfectly as the chalkiness of the ink makes it perfect to stamp with. If you used the ordinary Distress Ink the image would not be as crisp- it would be distressed as the ink has an almost split effect when used for stamping.

I then took a black fine liner pen and went around the circle- I did not want a perfect circle I wanted the wobbly look- probably reflects my current state of mind!

Lastly I used one of the sentiments from the set- perfect!

Finally I layered everything up- the red card complemented the pink perfectly.

I hope you like my card and cannot praise the set of blueprint images enough- they stamp beautifully- every fine little detail- exactly how you would see a blueprint!

I am sharing some more of my samples from the January shows on Hochanda.

These stamps all work so well together so these cards have elements from  Cala Lily Blueprint, Freesia Blueprint,  Sweetpeas Blueprint  and Wild Cornflower stamp sets.

My first card uses the single leaf image from the Cala Lily Blueprint set which I used with my stamping platform to enable me to create a simple circular design. I used two different coloured Distress Inks.

My next card, again I have used my stamping platform. I have stamped in a soft grey ink and splashed a few drops of Brushos over the top. I have used the spray of flowers from the Freesia Blueprint set and the leaf sprig from the Sweetpeas Blueprint set. The corners are architect drawings from the Freesia set.

Finally, I have used some of the architect drawings from Freesia Blueprint, Sweetpeas Blueprint and Wild Cornflower Blueprint sets. I used a blue card and embossed the images in white to look like old  blueprints. The detail in these stamps are amazing and they are not lost at all when you emboss.

Imagination rules by Rachel

Hello there! Rachel here with my second set of samples from the January shows. 

For this first one I used a gelli print and stamped onto that using stamps from the Cala Lily Blueprint set. I stamped the image twice - once on the gelli background then again on card that I coloured and fussy cut and added to the gelli print. I also used the single leaf stamp to form a border.

These AT coins were made by painting on the MDF blanks and then adding stamped imgaes from the Freesia Blueprint set which I coloured in using sparkly pens.

For this smple I used stamps from the Wild Cornflower Blueprint to create both the background and the centre piece. I chose to colour the central image but left the background black and white.

Another sample using the Freesia Blue print set, fussycut on a painty background.

Finally this is a little treat bag. I created this using a die. I painted then assembled the bag then finally added the Lily stamps.

Pretty Blueprints (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I have some more projects to share with you showcasing the fabulous new stamps that we aired on last month's TV shows on Hochanda. The possibilities with these stamps are endless, and I hope that you will try out lots of the ideas that myself and the rest of the Design Team are bringing to the blog this month. We have had a lot of fun working with the stamps, and we are sure that you will too!

For my first project, I took a piece of kraft card, and embossed an image and sentiment from the Calla Lily Blueprint stamp set, using white embossing powder. I coloured the image using Koh-I-Noor paints. The white paint in the set is particularly effective on kraft for creating delicate effects on flowers.

For my second project, I coloured a piece of drawing cartridge with tea, and then stamped a small worker image from the Freesia Blueprint stamp set randomly over the background. I coloured the image with watercolour pencils. I stamped the main image from the same stamp set onto a piece of fabric, (these detailed stamps still work perfectly even on a surface such as fabric), using Archival Ink. I then coloured the image with Inktense pencils.

For my next project, I coloured a canvas with acrylic paints. I blended the paints using a baby wipe to get a smooth effect. Once the paint was dry, I stamped an image from the Sweetpeas Blueprint stamp set onto a piece of tissue paper and coloured it with pencils. I tore around the edge of the tissue paper, and stuck the paper to the canvas background using matte medium. I stamped a sentiment onto a piece of scrap card which I edged with black ink, and stuck that to the background to finish.

As we become ever more conscious of the effect of our actions on the environment, I did not simply want to throw the baby wipes away. I dried them off, and look how cool they are!

They would make fabulous backgrounds in their own right, you could tear them into strips and layer them with other papers to make layered background, or simply stamp onto strips to make a decorative type of washi tape. I chose to use some for a mini card as follows....

I stamped a sentiment from one of the stamp sets and a flower from the Wild Cornflower Blueprint stamp set onto one of my baby wipes and cut them out. I adhered them to a coordinating piece of drawing cartridge using matte medium and added a layer of black card to mat the background.
