Bright and Cheerful Flower (by Christine)

Hello everyone, today sees the first of three posts this month by our Guest Design Team member Christine Patch. She has created a colourful card to inspire you.

Christine writes:

May I start off by wishing you a very Happy New Year - let's keep our fingers crossed that it will be a considerable improvement on the year just finished, even if it might take a bit of time!

I decided to kick off my turn on the Blog with a very bright and cheerful design to be added to my journal.

I chose one of the designer papers and added some additional stamping to give it more detail. I used a Versafine Clair in a toning purple to add some butterflies and hatching.

Having picked one of the lovely postcards for a mat, the lovely large flower stamp allowed me to choose strong bright colours as decoration. I decided on Memento Tuxedo Black ink as I wanted to use Alcohol Pens for the colouring. I stamped two of the butterflies on white card and one on the same postcard for a point of difference. Glossy Accents added dimension to the bodies.

I found a wooden button in my stash that was the perfect colour and added that as an embellishment to the flower centre. I used the same flower stamp to edge the postcard and then the designer paper to bring it all together. Finally, I added a sentiment that I think is so pertinent to us all: Live life to your own design.

Stroom O'clock by Brenda

This one came together in the wee small hours when I was unable to sleep, the idea was there so I decided to get to it.....as you do! Again Oxides for he background and worker stamps stamped in the same colours. I stamped Stroom Clock onto the inked base and then twice more onto a pice coloured with the same inks and cut out just the strooms which I build up around the focal element. Some white highlighting, metal clock hands and index clips.......yes the obsession with them has reached me.......and finally sentiments from the same set.

I have used the Seriously Gorgeous Postcards here to show what a quick and easy card you can make with them. The aperture card is a pre-cut one and I used elements from Stroom Clock, Parsley Clock and Floral Clock to stamp onto the postcards using Stayzon, added some white highlighter and fixed into the apertures. Finally I used one of the popped out squares to stamp the sentiment to place in the middle.

A brayered background of Oxides, one of the worker stamps from Stroom Clock stamped down the centre and Floral Clock stamped with Versfine Black and then coloured with Distess Markers some little die cut circles and a Shrink Plastic Butterfly.

 In my final post for this month I have a selection from all the stamp sets.
My first card uses the floral clock set - the background was created using the make your mark set of stamps, a very useful set for adding interest to backgrounds. I used grey ink pad for an olde world feel, and coloured with watercolour pencils. The extra butterfly was stamped onto spare card, cololured, fussy cut out and added to a strip of acetate fastened between the image and the card blank.

 The single flower from the same set was stamped onto tissue paper in black, coloured with marker pens, torn out and stuck with modge podge onto the lid of  a box painted with acrylic paints.

The last two use the parsley clock set again, first onto a candle and then simply stamped onto one of Lesley's lovely postcards with the flowers highlighted with white pen. 

More Clocks and Shrooms

I am sharing some more of my samples from the August Hochanda show.

There were three sets of stamps on the show - Floral Clock, Parsley Clock and The Shroom Clock

My cards today are mainly from the Parsley Clock set.

I used one of the Parsley images to stamp randomly on my card blank to create a background. I then created a Postcard which Lesley demonstrated a while back on a FaceBook live. I used the postcard stamp from Baroque Ephemera 2 and aged  it with distress inks, I then stamped the Parsley with the small butterfly onto the postcard and coloured with watercolour pencils. I stamped the clock face and butterfly onto some card, coloured them and cut them out and then layered onto the postcard. 

For this card I used the individual butterfly and  used some embossing glaze to make them glossy. I put them onto one of Lesley's Seriously Gorgeous Postcards and added on of the lovely sentiments.

My last card I made a back ground using torn paper and distress inks, I stamped the Parsley and butterflies and coloured with marker pens.

Let the Butterflies Dance by Brenda

Morning Peeps, I have a couple of cards to share using the beautiful stamps from last months Hochanda shows which all centred around Lesley's vintage clocks.

And please do make a note to tune in tomorrow as Lesley will be back on our screens with a One Day Special and I promise you won't want to miss out on the new stamps which are absolutely beautiful...................OK I'm a bit biased, but honestly they are.

After building up a background with Distress Oxides and some of the worker stamps from Stroom Clock I stamped and cut out the floral and Butterfly elements from Floral Clock, coloured it in and placed over a die cut circle frame. Sentiments from both stamp sets, some white splatters and a couple of metal index clips.

The Seriously Gorgeous Postcards designed by Lesley were also released in the shows and here I have used one, stamped the single Parsley from Parsley Clock using Stayzon and given them a little colour, added some grasses from Wild Meadow and Shrink Plastic Butterflies. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

And here's one using the entire Parsley Clock stamped onto a stencilled background, I added two coloured of Oxide to a stencil, spritzed with water then stamped the focal image with Versafine black, stamped another of the flower heads along the bottom and coloured all. A Butterfly and sentiment from the same set.

 Today it is my turn to show some of the samples from the August tv shows which featured vintage clock faces. Here they are combined with rather psychedelic mushrooms.
My first card has a brusho background, with the image simply stamped on top , clear embossed and the mushrooms coloured with alcohol markers.
The sentiment was stamped onto a spare piece of card inked with distress inks and edged with the same inks.

 The second sample was simply stamped onto one of the lovely postcards also in the show, using archival black ink - a very quick card that almost felt like cheating!










The last sample was a fabric bag, stamped using versafine clair ink, with the small mushrooms stamped along the top and bottom. Again the large mushrooms were coloured with alcohol markers.
For those who wondered, I washed the first bag I tried (with a very wonky image) and the image didn't fade at all.

Clocks and Shrooms 1

I am showing some of the cards I made for the August shows on Hochanda. There were three sets of rubber stamps to choose from - Floral Clock, Parsley Clock and The Shroom Clock.

My cards today feature The Shroom Clock set, but they all work so well together.

First, I made a small box from a die set and put an embossed Tree Ring in the back. I then added the trio of Shrooms, which I heat embossed and I added some lichen from the garden to the base.

My next card I used the Shrooms and Clock stamp and used bright coloured pencils on the mushrooms to contrast with the aged look on the clock.  A lovely fun card to make.

This card in contrast has a much calmer feel to it. I embossed in white and used one of Lesley's lovely Seriously Gorgeous Postcards. A nice and quick card to make.

My last card uses another of the lovely postcards. I made a mountain scene in the background with some torn copy paper and Archival Ink.  I stamped and embossed the mushrooms and cut them out, but this time I left them black and white.

I shall be back soon with some more samples.
