Butterflies And Blooms (By Tracy Thompson)

This is my final post for this month showing samples from April's shows, for my first creation I am using stamp sets Dream Petals and Butterfly Mind.   So I started with a background, using Distress Oxides and stencil brushes gently built colour up in green and blue, I kept it soft and subtle.   On some separate card I stamped out the flowers from the Dream Petals and cut them out.  I always cut out first and colour afterwards as if using water colours the card doesn't cut as crisp when damp.  I coloured with distress inks and when dry used a white gel pen to highlight in the centre of the flowers.  I adhered them to the bottom of the card overlapping them.
I then stamped two butterflies and cut them out, I coloured them the same way and put them on as if fluttering above the flowers. Finally added a sentiment.

For this creation I used the stamp set Life Is Wonderful with a sentiment from Birthday Words.  I started with the background, I used Cadence Metallic Acrylic paints found here,  I sponged them in two different colours all over and left to dry.  Meanwhile I stamped my image twice, and coloured the main one with Aqua pencils, I then cut out parts of the image, the butterfly and the biggest flower then coloured them.  I decoupaged the the cut out pieces.   and adde3d some glitter to the centre of the flowers and the butterfly wings.

I will be back with new posts next month, thank you for looking.
Happy crafting

show catch-up (by veronica)

My third post this month for Chocolate Baroque is a bit of a mixture, catching up on other stamps featured in the April show on Create and Craft.

The  canary bird rose stamp is lovely to colour in, but I just used bleach to take the colour out. The background was from a batch made using the inky plate and distress inks with some added stencilling- the leaves and stem were coloured with pencils

Another inky plate background for the tree from be at peace, with a reflection below it created using acetate, coloured with pencils again. the sentiment was stamped on an offcut of the background piece, cut out and edged with black ink
Another inky plate background, with the open weave  background stamped in grey first, then the floral weave stamp coloured with felt tip marker pens stamped twice to build up the colour - I used a stamping platform for this.

Sentiment on a scrap of the background and a black mat.

The final card used the flower from life is wonderful stamped in black ink onto a sponged background. The flower was coloured with pencils and the butterfly with shimmer paints. The flower head was stamped onto spare card, painted with watercolours ,fussy cut out and glued over the original image.  Random parts of the open weave stamp were stamped on the background using a green distress ink and then I doodled round the edges with a fineliner pen. The sentiment was stamped onto spare card, cut out , more doodled edges.

Life is Wonderful by Sandra

Hello, I am sharing some more of the cards I made for the April shows on Create and Craft.

My first card uses a 6.5" square of smooth card stock. Using Memento ink I stamped the main image, the dragonflies and the sentiment from Life is Wonderful. I then coloured the images using alcohol markers in shades of Warm Grey and Cool Grey. I then mat and layered this onto some toning card and then onto an 8x8" base.

My second card uses very similar sizes of card, but this time I have used the Be at Peace stamp set. I decided to use some non traditional colours for a more fantasy feel.

Floral Delights (By Tracy Thompson)

Hello, hope you are well, I am here today to show you some creations I made for the shows in April.  For my first creation I did one of my favourite techniques just using two pencils of different degrees of hardness.  I call it Grey Scale, if that is a proper term or it's just something I made up I have no idea.  First I stamped my image called Life Is Wonderful,  then using pencils I shaded it, it's a subtle effect and quite effective.
I then matted and layered the image using black, grey and white card stock.

For my second card I went with the Gerbera & friends stamp set, using the Dandelion from the set. To start with I did the background using a blending brush and some ink, I faded the ink out into white space.  I stamped my main image, then using a single seed head apparently they are called a 'Pappus' I stamped them floating in the air as if they were carried away by the wind.  I highlighted my flowers and added glitter for some sparkle.  Then all that was left was to matt and layer it.

Thank you for looking, I will be back middle of the month with more creations for you.

Happy crafting

Quick Watercolour (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I hope that you are keeping well. I have a very cheery project to share with you today, a demo that I created for last month's TV shows on Create and Craft, featuring the large image and a sentiment from the Life is Wonderful stamp set.

I scribbled onto an acrylic block with a couple of waterbased markers and spritzed the area with water, before pressing a piece of Drawing Cartridge onto the block. This created a very quick watercolour background. I let the Drawing Cartridge dry naturally and then stamped the images with Versafine Ink. I scribbled more of the waterbased markers onto an acrylic block, this time picking them up with a paintbrush dipped into water, and painted the images. I used just three colours, sometimes blending them, to achieve lighter and darker versions of the base colours, so that I could add shading.

I chose a patterned paper from one of Lesley's Designer paper packs which toned in perfectly to create a mat for the image, and added layers of black card to mat the design and patterned paper.

I had great fun creating this card, and hope that my design will give you some inspiration to create something yourself.

Thanks for stopping by,

Judith xx

In the Pink by Brenda

Morning Peeps, some more cards today from last months Hochanda shows. And first up is one using Life is Wonderful, well part of it that is as I masked the image so I was left with just the flowers.

The background is oxides applied with acetate as I wanted a softer finish, random stamping using worker stamps from Gerbera and Friends and sentiment from Dream Petals. I coloured the flowers with Distress Markers, stamped the seed head from the Gerbra set three times, cut out and placed down the side with paper clips. A torn strip from an old book, some doodling around the edges and the little Dragonfly from the same set as the focal element.

Inks, texture paste, stencilling, gilding wax and anything else I could lay my hands on to build up around the arch door from Echoes of Italy which I heat embossed with details copper EP. Finally some Little Birdie flowers. The sentiment is from Artistic Affirmations.

A focal circle created with the Gelli Plate, acrylic paints and Brushos, the seed heads from Gerbera and Friends stamped with Versafine Clair and sentiment from Canary Bird Rose.

Happy weekend everyone.

Life is Wonderful (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all keeping well. Today is my Wedding Anniversary, and I should have been in sunny Mexico, but as with so many things this year, it was not meant to be. Like so many of us, I know that family, friends and the simple things in life are far more important than holidays and lots of possessions. Enjoyment of Nature, the changing seasons, and the promise of Spring and lighter nights always seems to spur us on.

I have made some projects using the beautiful stamps showcased on last month's TV shows on Hochanda which I am sharing with you today. The first card uses the lovely Be at Peace stamp drawn by Dawn. I have given the card an Autumnal feel by colouring the leaves in different colours, so quick and simple to do. I added the sentiment in a circle around the tree, and distressed the edge of the background before matting onto kraft card.

My next two projects were created using the Life is Wonderful stamp set. I created a gelli plate background using green ink and a texture tool, and then stamped the little dragonfly over the top. I coloured the image with pencils.

My final card was created by stamping and embossing onto black card with white embossing powder. I painted the image with Koh-I-Noor paints, and added some splatters with white paint. I used one of Lesley's zingy Designer Papers A5- Background Splash to matt the design onto. Definitely much bolder than my previous design!

Thanks so much for stopping by, as always, stay safe, and take care.

Today is Your Day by Brenda

Hello everyone, I have a few more shares from my samples from last months Hochanda shows.

This beautiful bloom called Canary Bird Rose was probably my favourite from the stamps on the shows as it's so versatile. After stencilling some spots onto the background using Strip Stencils I stamped the flower head onto an offcut inked with Crackling Campfire Oxide and cut out and placed into a die cut circle. Next I used the same colour inks to stamp some background interest using the worker stamps from Gerbera and Friends. A sentiment from Canary Bird Rose placed into a ring sourced in the greenhouse.......I think hubby uses them for his cucumbers!

A misty oxide background and images from Silhouette Grasses stamped randomly, some flicks of white pen and sentiment from Artistic Affirmations.

Finally a bright and sunny creation using the big Sunflower from Gerbera and Friends, stamped with Versafine Clair and cut out twice to decoupage, some die cut leaves and a rarity for me some DP in coordinating colours. A sentiment from Dream Petals and Dragonfly from Life is Wonderful.

Have a good Thursday and thanks for your visit.

Paint Your Dreams

Hello
I am sharing some more of my cards I made for the October Hochanda show.

I am using stamps by a new designer for Chocolate Baroque called Dawn and the sets of stamps are called Be at Peace, Canary Bird Rose, Dream Petals and Life is Wonderful.

My first card features the beautiful tree from the Be at Peace set. I stamped with black Versafine and coloured with water colour pencils. I used an 8x8 card base and cut an aperture out of the centre. I put my stamped image behind the aperture and using my stamping platform, I lined up the sentiment to fit. To finish off I used a glue pen and added some sparkle to the leaves with glitter.

My second card uses the Canary Bird Rose set. I stamped in Black Archival and coloured with water colour pencils. I then used a stencil in the background.

My next card uses the Dream Petals set. This is the Canary Bird Rose flower, but looking down into it. By changing the colours it makes a great Poppy and Anemone! I created a background with inks and stencils and the comb stamp from Gerbera and Friends I stamped the flower onto some self adhesive canvas. for a different texture.

My last card today uses stamps from Life is Wonderful. These have a lovely tropical feel, with the big butterfly and flowers. I stamped in Memento ink and used alcohol markers to colour.

Thanks for looking

Fantastic florals (by Rachel)

Hello there! Rachel here with some inspiration from the shows in October. This first one uses the stsmp called Canary Bird Rose. I think the stamp name influenced my colouring of the image done in watercolours. I thin fussycut the image and added it to a black and white background. I think this stamp will get a lot of use!

In making this canvas I used the dream petal stamp and stamped it on card and coloured it with translucent paints before fussy cutting. I added this to a circular canvas painted black that I had already decorated with flitterglu stamped images from the Gerbera and friends set which I covered with gilding flakes. I also stamped the centre of the flowers in flitterglu and added flake to them before adding to the painted florals.

In this last sample I used the Life is wonderful stamp set and the circular stencil set. Colouring was in a combination of translucent paints and watercolour pencils.

I hope this has given you food for thought!

Big hugs

Rachel xx

Gerbera and Friends

Hello
I'm showing a couple of cards made for the October Show on Hochanda.
These were made with new stamps Gerbera and Friends designed by Lesley and David's granddaughter, aren't they amazing!

For my first card  I made a background using Distress Inks and some torn paper to get hills in the distance. I then stamped the two Dandelion stamps and the extra seeds in VersaMark and embossed in white . I then added stamps from Silhouette Grasses and Wisteria Lane around the base and top. I stamped these in Onyx Versafine.

My second card uses the gorgeous Gerbera. This is a lovely big stamp, 4" in diameter and with great shading. I stamped with Memento ink and coloured with alcohol markers. The background is Brusho splashes and the splatter stamp that comes with the set. The Dragonfly is from the Life is Wonderful stamp set and I shall be sharing more from that next time.
