Bottle, Jug and a Cup of Tea! (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I hope that you are keeping well. I have a project to share with you from last month's TV shows on The Craft Store. 

I found a background in my stash that I thought would be perfect to use with Kim Moody's Bottle and Jug stamp, and so my card was dictated by these colours. I had coloured the original background with tea and added an image from Baroque Ephemera 1. I then dry brushed the background with pale blue acrylic paint.

I stamped the main image onto a smaller piece of tea dyed drawing cartridge to match the main background. I masked the image and stamped a tree from Trees a Crowd, and added blossoms from Orchard Design a Tree stamp set. I added a few splats using a stamp from the Timeless stamp set. I removed the mask and coloured the image with pencils.

These images have been an absolute delight to work with and are so versatile. I hope that you have enjoyed seeing our projects and have lots of ideas to try using the stamps yourselves.

A mish mash of makes by Rachel

 Hello there. Rachel here today with the last of my makes from the December shows. This time I am showing those I made using the floral grunge, ephemera, movie strip collage and trees a crowd sets.

For this first one I used the ephemera stamps to stamp on a distress oxide background and fussy cut the images out themn mounted them onto a piece of paper from a show earlier in the year. Finally I added the flower from the movie strip collage that I cut out and added in black and white. 

In this next sample I created the background using distress oxides and overstamped with ephemera stamps. Next I stamped and coloured the floral grunge stamp a few times before fussy cutting and decoupaging up the image.

In this one I used the trees a crowd stamps to create a scene using inks and a piece of card plus a large sun mask. I used the stamps to fill in the scene.

Finally it was back to the ephemra stamps which I stamped in a similar colour to the background on this card (made using oxide inks). I then stamped (in black) the movie strip collage stamp and finally added decoupaged the flower on in a colour similar to the background.

Misty treescape by Brenda

Hello all, my last post for this month and another share using Trees a Crowd which has a whole host of different trees to match all nature of creations.

I started by stamping the tree into place, some with second generation inking, using Versafine Clair and then masking the edges of a landscape piece of CB Drawing Cartridge. The taking a piece of torn paper I built up the hills using a variety of colours of Distress Ink. A mask for the sun and Pan Pastels to colour the sky with a slightly mist feel and finito, a fairly quick and easy card to achieve.

For this one I used a whole collection of stamps from Floral Grunge, Ephemera 1, Ephemera 2 and the word Botanical stamped onto scraps of card which I tore and distressed, some flowers, lace and a clip to hold one of the vintage tags. You could call this one just some inky fun!

Floral Collage (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all keeping well. I have a project to share with you today using some of the stamps that were featured on last month's TV shows on Hochanda. 

I created a background using a stencil and a piece of drawing cartridge. I brushed three colours of Distress Ink through the stencil, a blue, lilac and green, to give a soft backdrop for the rest of the design. I added a stamp from the Baroque Ephemera 1 stamp set in each of the four corners, and then stamped the Movie Strip Collage image onto the background. I stamped and embossed the flower portion of the image three times onto a spare piece of drawing cartridge, and coloured the images with watercolour paints.

 I cut the images out, and worked out the positioning of the flowers on the background. Before I stuck them onto the background, I added some extra splats using an image from Butterfly Mind, and a fern leaf from Wild Meadow.

Tall Stories

Hello, I am sharing some of my cards today using Ephemera 1 and  Ephemera 2. 

I love ephemera, all the stories and memories that they hold.....

My first card was made during the first lockdown when Lesley started some Challenges over on the Facebook page. I do recommend you take a look as there have been some fabulous entries over the months. Certainly kept us motivated!

This card uses some pattern papers, die cuts and flowers to make a pretty 21st birthday card. I have highlighted the 21 with an inked bottle top.

For this card I used parts of ephemera and over stamped with the Tall Trees stamp set. I added the focal point from Gerbera and Friends.

This is known as a "W" shaped card and is a great way to use smaller stamps and quotes from Tall Trees, each becoming a little work of art in their own right.

My last card uses the main stamp from Tall Trees, a large bare tree. I have stamped it over a Distress Ink background which I added droplets of water for a snowy effect. I stamped and embossed the trees in white and cut into 3 equal parts and then glued onto a piece of dark card.

Messing About in the Water (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all keeping well in these uncertain times. Our thoughts go out to any of you who are unwell at this time, and we wish you a full and speedy recovery.

I have a couple of projects to share with you today. These projects feature stamps that we showcased during the December Tv shows on Hochanda. Unfortunately, I was unable to make any new samples for the shows, and found some older samples that I had made to send to Lesley for the shows. I have since had a chance to make a couple of projects to share with you, but will also show you a few of my older cards as well this month.  

My first project is a card which mixes stamps from both Chocolate Baroque and those designed by Kim Moody. They work together so well. I coloured some drawing cartridge with some tea and let it dry thoroughly. I then stamped the larger piece with some images from A Dip in the Sea and Baroque Ephemera 1. I stamped the large postcard from Baroque Ephemera 2 onto a spare piece of background, and also the beach huts over the top. I stamped the beach huts once again onto spare card. I coloured the beach huts with Distress Ink, and decoupaged them onto the postcard. I added a couple of tickets behind the postcard, and coloured all of the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

My second project is a journal page. I enjoy using my journal to work out ideas for potential cards, or simply to play around with stamps and colour. I used two of Kim's larger stamps from Harbour Master and Jolly Roger, and stamped them on the same page. I linked them together with a fineliner pen, and added a few dots and dashes to finish the scenery. I coloured the image with watercolour pencils.

Vintage Iris

Hello
I am sharing a couple more cards from the May Hochanda show.

The first one uses the pretty Iris stamp which is found on the Kingfisher Song stamp set.  I stamped the image and coloured with alcohol markers. I then aged it with a crackle stamp and Distress inks. I die cut a frame and used a variety of acrylic paints in blue, grey and gold to give a tarnished look. I layered it onto some pretty paper and some card which I also tarnished the edges. I added some of the ephemera from Baroque Ephemera 1 and Baroque Ephemera 2.

 

My next card uses the large tree stamp from Trees a Crowd set . I took a piece of card and sponged inks through the Squarely Stencil.  I used different inks and kept turning the stencil until I was happy with the background. I inked over the whole card with Distress Ink Antique Linen.  I then stamped and embossed the tree and sentiment.

Vintage Fanfare (by Julie)

Hello, I have two more cards to show you. The first has been created with the recently released Baroque Ephemera 1 and 2 sets which I have teamed with Floral Grunge

All of the images were stamped onto distressed Kraft Kard before mounting onto my card blank.

I started by stamping the Floral Grunge image onto the Kraft Kard and also onto copy paper as a mask was needed to cover the flower. Once the flower mask was in place the postcard from Ephemera 2 was stamped so that it appears to be behind the flower. This was then coloured with Polychromos pencils. The 10p ticket from Ephemera 1 was stamped onto cream, cotton, gros grain ribbon and stuck into place using double sided tape. Various other stamps were taken from the Ephemera sets and stamped around the main image before the edges were distressed by dragging a scissor blade around the outside edge and then sponging Picket Fence Distress Stain over the background.

My second card has been created with Music Fanfare. I simply stamped the torn sheet music for the background using a pale grey dye ink before stamping the main images in black, which were then coloured with Polychromos pencils. The background was then sponged with Distress inks before taking a white paint pen to add highlights. The panel was then cut to size before mounting onto black card-stock.

A fanfare of ephemera!(by Rachel).

Hello there - Rachel here today with more samples from the October shows.

On this first sample I started with a gelli print and used stamps from the Baroque ephemera sets to sit on the round gelli print. Next I added the Movie strip collage stamp and coloured it in then added ink around the outside.

In this one I used a stencil from my stash along with the bingo stamp from Baroque ephemera 1. I then addedthe floral grunge stamp on top of the background and decoupaged the flower head on top.

This is my favourite sample I did for the shows - the postcard stamp from Baroque ephemera 2 was stamped over the distress oxide background. I then used stamps from the srt of chess to add over the top.

My pottery piece from the show was made using the music fanfare set - as usual I stamped the images then over painted in glaze.

I made this background using the chocolate baraoque mask silhouette palace 1. I thought the shapes were echoched in the stamp from the art of chess set so thats why I added that one.

I hope I have given you some inspiration!

ephemera

Today I am sharing some pix of a journal I made for the October tv shows.
I don't know about you, but I find that if I try to plan a project out in detail, it always goes wrong - happened again with this journal! It's much safer to just play, get messy and inky and then see what i have got.
I used a Sizzix journal die, and had plans to create a mixed media holiday souvenir journal using all the stamps in the ephemera sets and some older seaside related sets.



The cover went ok, using kraft card as the base with lots of gesso and paint splodged on. and the beach huts stamped in the centre, with the journey word. I also used a mini photo from Creative Individuals
 I ended up salvaging the better of the inner pages to create a slim journal - this one had another  CI image, the beach huts again, ammonite stamp , sea shells and the travel ticket.
I also used the chess stamps, the fountain scene, lighthouse and flower stamps to create the other pages.

 I did have fun - sort of - and next time I won't bother planning it out!

 I also reused an empty coffee can, covering it with kraft card and stamping images using brown ink, adding colour with pencils.

Musical Birthday Card, Musical Hearts and Floral Messages by Penny

Hello peeps, I hope you are all warm and well.  I have several of my samples from last month's tv shows to share with you today, so I'll dive straight in.

Musical Birthday Card

I have used stamps from the Music Fanfare and Birthday Words sets, Distress Inks, Versafine Inks - blue and sepia, clear EP, Pearlescent ink spray, a gold pen and an embossing folder from my stash. 

I took a piece of satin silk card and stamped two focal images in blue Versafine, then embossed them with clear EP.  I then masked the images with Masking Tissue.   I sprayed it with Pearlescent ink and dried it with a heat gun before stamping the torn music sheet image repeatedly all over the panel.  I then tore the top edge  and blended DI around the edges.     

I removed the masks and added gold pen to the images.  I matted the panel onto black card and attached it to an ivory basecard that had been embossed in a folder from my stash and had DI blended around the edges.  I took a spare piece of card, stamped and embossed the torn music sheet image and added DI to age the card.  I attached it to the card then created a sentiment panel and added that as well.

Musical Hearts.

For this next project I have used stamps from the Music Fanfare and Artist Trading Card sets, CB White Board Trading Heart,   DI inks, Versafine inks, copper pen  and stickles from my stash.

I began by stamping the torn music sheet onto a piece of tissue using sepia Versafine ink and attached it to the heart.  I then stamped the floral guitar image onto white card, embossed it with clear EP.  I used DIs to colour the image then cut it out.
 

 I stamped and embossed the guitar and a couple of flowers again, coloured and cut them out as before, then attached them in 3D to the heart.  I then added stickles to the flowers.

I took a small wooden heart from my stash and attached stamped tissue  as before.  I coloured the heart with DI then stamped and embossed  a sentiment.  I then attached it to the the ATH.  I used a copper pen to edge both hearts and add some dots.

Floral Hearts.

My last couple of projects today are two quick cards using stamps from the Movie Strip Collage , Baroque Ephemera 1& 2, and Floral Grunge sets, Brilliance inks, Versamark ink, gold EP, Aztec metalic paints.  I stamped both floral images onto black card using Versamark ink and embossed them with gold EP.  I then cut both images out and painted them with metalic paints.  I took a couple of A5 panels of black card and stamped them randomly with ephemera images, one in gold and one in blue Brilliance ink.  I edged both panels with a gold pen and attached each panel to a white base card.  I then attached a flower to each card with 3D glue, stamped and embossed two sentiment panels and attached one to each card.

Grungy bloom by Brenda

Good morning everyone, Brenda here with a few more shares from last months Hochanda shows which featured a super selection of new stamps made from Lesley's personal collection of ephemera and I might add were a delight to work with.

The card at the top uses unusually for me blue, it's not a colour I use often, blue and yellow DI's blended together and Floral Grunge stamped focally, elements of Baroque Ephemera 2 stamped randomly around it and the crackle sections of the floral stamp added around the edge. Finally some very light colouring with pencils.

This one was great fun to make, an Oxide background, elements of stamps from both Baroque Ephemera 1 and Baroque Ephemera 2 stamped randomly onto the background, one of the label and numbers stamped onto scraps of card and fixed onto the background along with some rice paper pleated and added, buttons, twine an chipboard numbers. An easy one to do where you can't go wrong!

This is a little gist set of notelets and matching envelopes with a band to hold them together. After inking a focal section on each card I stamped images from Music Fanfare and Art of Chess multi buy, using Versafine Clair ink, masked and stamped the envelopes to match and the band.

I inked two panels with DI, added some stencilling and random stamping around the edges of one, then stamped Movie Strip Collage to the second and cut away the top, glue around the sides and bottom of this piece and placed over the first panel to create a pocket. I then made two tags and stamped with images from Baroque Ephemera 1 and Baroque Ephemera 2 and finally coloured the blooms with Koh-i-noor paints.

I sourced a chequered patter from the Internet and printed out to form the base 'chess board'  and then stamped one of the chess pieces from Music Fanfare and Art of Chess multi buy onto the top section and used a piece of ribbon across the centre. The chess pieces were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with detail clear EP onto a piece a card which I coloured with glimmer acrylic paints, cut out and placed onto my chess board.

Beautiful backgrounds! By Rachel

Rachel here today with some inspiration for using your stamps from the October shows. I loved the background stamps - so very useful!

In this sample I teamed up the bingo stamp from Baroque ephemera 1 with alcohol inks and lift ink to create the background on yupo paper. I added this to a kraft card and used the art of chess stamps to add the chess pieces on the background. 

Baroque ephemera 1 with baroque ephemera 2  to create the background on the card. Then I stamped onto a gelli plate background in red with the ephemera and also the Movie Strip Collage. I coloured the flower in pencils.

In this sample I teamed up the the art of chess stamps with a gelli print background and harlequin fragments stamp.

In this sample I used Baroque ephemera 2  and inks to create the background then overstamped in black with a stamp from the  Music fanfare set then used another stamp from this set as a central feature.

In this final sample I made a chunky atc using the Music fanfare stamp and  Baroque ephemera 1.
