It's all about exquisity.........(by Miranda)

Hello crafty people,

Today I have a lovely combination to show you made with the Exquisite edges and one of  the Fabulous Flapper ladies. I think they are a good match......

I had this background with the deco flowers for quiet a while . The flowers come from the Nouveau lovebirds. There are so many sheets in the CB collection that will combine perfectly with these edges, all elegant and stylish!

And now onto my card.......

The background was made using Distress inks onto watercolor paper. Some shading with color pencils and adding some white highlights. I have embossed the upper edge using Wow embossing powder Ruby Romance and the lower edge was done using one of the new colors, Atlantic seaspray, a turquoise with gold sparkles.

Than I stamped the lady....I used a few Memento colors to ink her up and dabbed the ink on the lower part of her dress to let it fade. Than I extended some lines with color pencils.

Nouveau Love Birds by Florence

Hi everyone

I hope you are all well and that the weather if being kind to you in your part of the world.

We had a glorious start to the month here in Spain but it seems autumn has come back.  I am chicken watching at the moment.  One of my hens is sitting on some eggs so I am waiting for the little balls of fluff to appear.  I will let you know when there is any news.  So excited!

Today I wanted to share a little card using this months  Nouveau Love Birds Stamps.

Talk about exquisite designs!  There are so many possibilities with these stamps....truly.

 The stylized flowers in this set are just amazing and stamp beautifully.  They are also a great size and work wonderfully not only in card making but in artful journaling.

For this card I stamped the flower image just onto bulk standard white card stock using black archival ink.

I colored in the image using some water color crayons (direct on to the dry paper over the image) and then softened and blended the colors using a damp paint brush.  To create the high lights, I just moved some of the color around with the damp paint brush and removed some of it with a piece of kitchen paper towel where appropriate. 

I lay my piece of stamped card onto an ordinary plastic document wallet and applied some Evergreen Bough Distressing Ink to the card edges using some Cut-n-Dry foam. 

When the distressing ink was dry I used one of the Abstract Fragments Background Stamps and black Archival ink to create a stamped frame.

To finish off the focal piece, I stamped the small butterfly from the Butterfly Blush stamp set, again using black Archival ink.

I gave everything a quick spray with an artists watercolor fixative to set the distressing ink.  This is not necessary but it does protect the surface of the card.

To complete my card, I mat and layered the card pieces and added some bling.

Nouveau Cards (by Debbie)

 

The Fleurs Nouveau Peacocks look so majestic standing with the stylised flower and I thought they deserved the time to be cut out and coloured. 

I love the style of the stamp as it can be used for cards for allsorts of occasions.

I had the background in my stash from a playsession using stencils, inks and sprays.

 

 

 

 The following two cards are A5 size. I used the flowers from Lovebirds Nouveau and Fleurs Nouveau on cards that had been coloured with Alcohol Inks and Blending Solution onto matt coated card.  The sentiments are from Mackintosh Sentiments Clear stamps.

 

 

 

 

 

This card is a clean and simple that I made for a Wedding Event

my daughter was involved in at work.

Not-So-Nouveau (by Asha)

Hello there, friends! I'm back with a couple more cards featuring stamps from the Fleurs Nouveau and Nouveau Lovebirds collection. These are simple makes, not requiring many tools, products or complicated techniques.

For my first project, I inked the background in rich autumnal tones with various hues of reds, orange and mustard. The grassy bits is a stamp from the Wild Meadow A4 sheet and the sentiment is from the Loving Words A5 sheet.

I coloured the flower stamp from the Fleurs Nouveau A5 sheet with alcohol markers. For some texture, I coloured a few extra leaves and flowers and decoupaged these onto the main image.

When I saw this arty image form the Nouveau Lovebirds A4 sheet, I didn't know what to make of it... but I was determined to used it, somehow. And here it is. This time I inked the background with lighter tones of blue with some dark yellow radiating from the centre and a design from Texture Fragments A4 sheet.

I coloured image with alcohol markers, fussy cut and mounted it with some foam tape on to a piece of die-cut vellum. Black bling and black twine complete the project.

There you have it - two simple cards with contrasting colour combos. Despite their art nouveau label, stamps from Fleurs Nouveau and Nouveau Lovebirds collections truly are versatile and will work with any style or skill set. Come back soon for a few more samples from the rest of the crew.

Twenties Tags (posted by Judith)

Hi Folks, I have a couple of tags to show you today, using the stamp of the month stamp sets. I wanted to create a peice of artwork reflecting the fashions of the twenties, when the dresses were often beautiful ombre shades, with fringing and feathers, with lots of decorative elements. So my first tag tries to reflect these style features, using a background of Distress Inks, ranging from pale green to dark blue. I have spritzed the background with a shimmer spray to give the impression of a chiffon overlay.

I stamped a portion of the background with one of the slihouette flower stamps from the Nouveau Lovebirds stamp set, and added some fringing and a large feather. I used a tiny portion of one of the flapper ladies dresses from the Fabulous Flappers stamp set, which I coloured with pencils, and encapsulated it into a Nautical Frame with Dome charm.

 

My next tag was made using Gelatos on the background. I had this tag lurking in my stash from a while ago, and decided to try and make something with it.I used a mask, and some stamping with gold embossing using a stamp from the Texture Fragments stamp set. I stamped the flowers taken from both of the A5 stamp sets onto self-adhesive labels , and coloured them with alcohol based markers, adding some leaves from the Tangled Garden stamp set. Some funky crackle gems and ribbon complete the tag.

Repeat Stamping (by Debbie)

 

Good morning.

I've really had fun playing working with the Fleurs Nouveau stamps.

For my first card I had great fun colouring the flower with pencils and wanted to keep the colours soft as I used Memento London Fog for stamping as a change to using black ink.

I cut out the flowers with an oval die and blended with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.

I stamped around the oval with words from the Amazing Birthday words. These are clear stamps and they will bend beautifully and you can see where you're stamping. The flower oval was attached with foam pads and I mounted onto a pale pink.

 

 

 

The mathematical side of my brain was very happy doing the repeat stamping for the background of this card. The stamp is from the Nouveau Lovebirds set. I love symmetrical things like fabrics and wall paper.

I stamped with a pale green and because there is a lot of detail in the background decided a sentiment on a label shape would be sufficient as a topper.

Nouveau Lovebirds (by Asha)

Good morning, friends! Are you having fun with your new stamps? Today I want to show you a couple of cards made with stamps from the Nouveau Lovebirds set. They are so versatile and that they can be funky or elegant ... the choice is yours!

My first card is a bright and bubbly good luck card featuring the stylised flowers from the Nouveau Lovebirds stamp set. Added bonus: quick and easy to make.

I started by heat embossing the images using white embossing powder. For the background I blended Distress Inks in yellows and greens with some reds for the floral buds. The greeting is from Words of Comfort and Cheer.

Here's a closer look at the card. Just to fill some of the space, I also heat embossed an image from the Texture Fragments set.

My second card is not so loud and boisterous. This elegant card features the lovebirds after which the stamp set is named (that's my guess!). The front of the card has a layer of vellum that allows you to barely see through to the top half of the inside.  I used one of the smaller stamps from the Nouveau Lovebirds to make the background. This card would make a lovely engagement, wedding or anniversary card. 

Here's a closer look at the image of the lovebirds. I coloured it with alcohol markers, fussy cut it and adhered it directly onto the vellum layer. You can just about see the background stamping on the bottom half of the card front.

You've seen two contracting styles using stamps from the Nouveau Lovebirds set .... and you have to agree they are anything but arty! These images are so versatile and lend themselves to any design style. The rest of the design team will be posting more inspirational work. Come back soon!

Birds of a Feather (posted by Judith)

Hi Folks, I have a couple of bird related samples for you today using the stamp of the month stamps from Chocolate Baroque.

For my first sample, I created a couple of backgrounds using Distress paints and water. I used some smooth watercolour paper, as I wanted to add lots of water to the paints to create a watery feel to the backgrounds. I have used Seedless Preserves, Crushed Olive and Antique Linen as my colour palette. On the larger background, I stamped a border using a tree stamp from the Woodland Dreams stamp set using gold embossing powder. On the smaller background I have used one of the lovely Lalique style birds, which I have coloured using Distress Markers. I simply matted the backgrounds with plum card, and added some ruffled ribbon.

My second project is a little altered notelet box, using Weathered Wood Crackling Medium and acrylic paint from my stash. I painted the little box using navy and and pale blue paint, applying the crackling medium in between the two layers. I used very cheap acrylic paint, so it works very effectively. I stamped the bird onto tissue paper using silver embossing powder, and coloured it with Distress Markers.

I used a sentiment from the Mackintosh Sentiments clear stamp set to stamp along a piece of ribbon to embellish the sides of the box. I added a couple of Crealie flowers to complete my project.

Hey everyone,

And here are some other tags samples with the new Fleurs Nouveau and Nouveau Lovebirds stamps. I 've made them the same way as I made the ladies tags, with distress ink, but here I just used some stencils for the backgrounds. I stamped the images than I masked them and put a stencil over them to make the special backgrounds, I also finished them with a golden frame round the edge and again I used some panpastels and fragment stamps for the finishing touch. I hope you like them and I give you some inspiration.

More lovely Deco flowers.....by Miranda

Today another creation made with the new lovely stamps......I've enjoyed very much playing with these stamps, I always do with those great designs made by our talented CB designer!

I've made two cards in a pink/black colour combination. This is the first one......This one is made with the Fleurs Nouveau. I've stamped and coloured on Basic Grey scrap paper and decoupaged some flowers. The wavy edges are a die(Borderabilitie) from Spellbinders( also available at CB) and the swirl and flowers are dies from Memorybox. I like these wavy borders to play with.......

This is the 2nd one, also made with a borderabilitie from Spellbinders. And this card is made with the Nouveau Lovebirds sheet. If I had to pick a favorite of these two sheets.....I would not know......so I would probaply buy them both!

And again I've used one of my Basic Grey scrap papers as background, I am glad I've bought a lot of them some time ago, so I have always something to grab.....

I have stamped with a pink ink and coloured with pencils and some of the flowers are embossed with Wow silver and black twinkle, coloured with markers and decoupaged. The text is from the Mackintosh sentiments. I like these stylish flowers, they have something organic.......

Well, this is my take on these flowers for today, hope I have inspired you !

Beautiful Birds (by Debbie)

 

 

When I received the Nouveau Lovebirds stamps, I was curious to see if I could go

with a wedding theme.

I stamped with Versamark and embossed with gold powder. I recently had a play with some Coloursoft Pencils and with a little left over birthday money I invested in  a small set.

 

For the birds and trees I quickly learned that it was best to keep the pencils sharp. Glenda is an expert when colouring with pencils and I certainly enjoyed taking time colouring the image.

I chose to mount the birds on colours from the pencil work. 

The Ivy Corners from the Wedding Belle and the sentiment were stamped with green ink.

I have a friend getting married in the summer so this card is going in the box of cards ready for their big day.

Ladies in Green (posted by Judith)

Hi Folks, I have some samples to show you using the Fabulous Flappers stamp set today. I have really enjoyed working with these lovely stamps, as I am a real fan of the Art Deco/Art Noveau era.

For my first card, I have created a marble background, using shaving foam and Golden acrylic paints. I have stamped the main image onto a piece of white card, and cut out an oval shape, just avoiding the bottom area where her dress overlaps the edge. I hand cut a black mat layer. I stamped some of the flower images onto some spare white card, and coloured all of the images with Distress Markers.

My second lady is resting on a stepper card. I have embossed some linen card, and highlighted the raised areas to show the texture. I have used one of the smaller stamps on the Nouveau Lovebirds stamp plate to create a border along the bottom of the card, and added some black gems for decoration. I have added a sentiment from the Mackintosh Sentiments clear stamp set.

My last sample uses the same lady again, but this time I have used a peacock theme for my card. I created a Distress Ink background, and used a peacock feather mask over the background. I stamped the peacock cluster stamp around the edges, using the corresponding colour inks that I used to create the background.

I stamped the central image, and then used some bleach to take away the colour within the image, before colouring it with pencils. I added some ribbon, and die cuts to finish.

Chique nouveau flowers by Miranda

Hello there,

There are some lovely new Art Nouveau stamps released at Chocolate Baroque! I did have a play with the Nouveau lovebirds and deceide to keep this card simple ( not really CAS) but chique. I have embossed the stylish flower with WOW Vanilla white and just sponged over it with some brown pigment inks. When I finished that I just wiped over it with a soft towel to wipe off the ink residu of the embossed layers.

The text is from the Mackintosh sentiments, a type of font witch matches perfect with this style of stamps.

Hope you like these stamps as much as I do! They are a great match with the the other new sheets and some older sheets which you will recognize in other beautiful samples the designteam has made. Keep an eye on this blog for the coming period because lots of artwork with these beautiful stamps will be shown here made by a talented bunch of ladies!

FABulous new stamps Dahling!

I know there's still a week to go, but we're launching our May stamp of the month today, Fabulous Flappers as well as two gorgeous Art Nouveau inspired sets too.

Apologies to anyone French at this point for savaging your language.  I'm pretty sure fleurs are feminine (not to mention plural) and the pairing with nouveau is no doubt causing some hands to be thrown up in horror, but I'll claim artistic license - it's simply a reference to the Art Nouveau style. 

As always, we have put them on the website at introductory prices until the end of May, and there is a multi-buy for the two Nouveau sets as well.

The girls start blogging artwork with these stamps from tomorrow, so you're in for a real treat.

The image you saw at the start is a work in progress.  I've coloured each lady using watercolour and a touch of coloured pencil, but they're currently sitting on my craft table waiting for assembly into some kind of seasonal project.  I'm still not entirely sure what, but I coloured them to represent Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, so I'm thinking about some kind of book maybe.  Click on the image for a closer look.
