peacock feathers (by Veronica)

June was quite a sad month, several of my favourite stamps were in the retired list, but digging them out made me realise just how old some of them were! On the plus side, retiring a whole load of older stamps means there will be room for new designs to tempt us, though I'm quite sure the bank manager would not agree!

My first samples for the recent shows on Create & Craft used stamps from the Peacock Fan and Peacock Glory sets.

I used the large feather stamp to create  fan cards. The first one has a brusho background, and I stamped the feather once on the right, then masked it with tissue paper and stamped again five times to create the fan shape. Some parts of the images were coloured with marker pens, then a mount of black card before adding to a white card blank.

The second version again had a brusho backgroumnd, and the feather was stamped five times and fussy cut out. The eyes were coloured with marker pens Then the fan was assembled onto black card.
My final card was a trifold on black card -after folding the card, I cut diagonally from the top of the lefthand panel to partway down the right hand panel, giving the shape on the right. The peacocks were stmaped using versamark and gold embossed, then painted with shimmer paints

The other scans show the inner and back of the flat card before folding

brusho petals (by Veronica)

For my second batch of samples from the Chocolate Baroque shows in April on Create and Craft I have used stamps from gerbera and friends and dream petals as the main images

The first two are very similar, both using  backing sheets coloured with brusho powders sprayed with water. A separate sheet of card was coloured using green, turquoise and purple powders and the flower from dream petals was stamped 5 times in black versafine ink and fussy cut out.

I chose 3 flowers to mount onto the bluey background which was trimmed to fit an 8" square card blank and edged with black by dragging across the ink pad before gluing on.

The greeny one was trimmed to fit a 7" square card blank and edged by using an alcohol marker pen in green before adding the 2 remaining flowers.

This one took a bit longer to do -  The flower was stamped first in black versafine ink and clear embossed  befoe painting with ko-i-nor water colour paints. The sentiment comes from be at peace. I then brushed distress ink around the flower, and added  random parts of the lattice stamp to add texture. I also used several worker stamps from older sets to add interest to the background.

The last one used the sunflowers stamped in bl;ack versafine ink onto a scrap of  leftover card with an inky splodgy background which I trimmed right down and edged with black ink before mounting on a white card blank. The sentiment was stamped in black in the corner to finish

brusho flowers (by Veronica)

This was experimental, but I liked the result and decided to repeat it using all the floral stamps from this month's show

.

The first was a card using the crackling rose stamp, just stamped onto white card using black versafine and clear embossed before sprinkling with grey brusho powder and spritzing with water. A black mat, and a base card sponged with grey distress ink and randomly stamped with part of the rose stamp in the same grey.

The base of the concertina was an A3 sheet of gold card cut to give 3 panels 5x7". The four main images were stamped in black and clear embossed before adding the grey brusho powder. On the last two panels the crackling rose was stamped in grey in the corners , and sentiments stamped using black versafine.

a splash of colour (by Veronica)

My cards today from last month's TV shows all have inky backgrounds as a main part, though using different stamps.

The first ones feature the klimt panel stamp, which is quite large. I stamped the image onto white card using black versafine ink and clear embossed it before addin tiny amounts of brusho powders in blue, red and yellow over parts of the design and spritzing with water.

I cut a square of card to fit a &" card blank and coloured it using distress inks dabbed onto a craft mat and spritzed with water. I stamped parts of the panel randomly using grey versafine ink to create my background. The main panel was trimmed down to the edge of the stamp and mounted onto black card, then onto the background which was edged with a                                                                             black marker pen.

My second card used the same shades of brusho powder, but this time I used watercolour card and a lot of water and a second sheet of white card pressed onto the wet first sheet to give a second paler image.

I stamped the panel using versamark ink and a white embossing powder onto the card trying to match the image up with areas of colour. This time I left a border round the panel when i trimmed it, mounted it onto black card, then onto the background piece  and more black card.

for the second group I used the songthrush stamped in black onto card coloured with brusho powders and then clear embossed.

Both these card are DL sized, and the panel was trimmed down and mounted onto balck card and then onto a panel cut from the same card stamped with a sentiment from life is so much better.  On the second card i used bleach to highlight the flowers and black card behind the coloured strip

brusho dragonflies

Today I have two versions to share using the beautiful dragonfly stamp from last month's shows on Hochanda.

Both very similar techniques, using my favourite brusho powders - very quick results, and different every time!

The first one, the image was stamped in versamark and white embossed before sprinkling grey brusho over the whole thing., then spritzing fairly heavily with water. There are lots of lovely muted colours in the brusho powder including oranges and blues in my tub. Once everything was dry, I used ordinary thin bleach to highlight the wings, then trimmed the card down to fit a 6" square card base with a bronze mat layer.

The second version used truquoise and purple powders, with the turquoise sprinkled over the dragonfly  and the purple over the small circle and on the edges.  The different shades in the turquoise were caught in the embossing of the wings and blended in with the purple for the background.

Trimmed down for a 6" square card again, with a black marker pen used on the edges.

We have been very lucky with the weather here, the promised heavy snow has become sleet, although the strong icy wind did arrive!

I hope you are all keeping safe and warm, although the bad weather is at least an excuse to stay in and craft.....

lupin lights (by Veronica)

Today I am sharing two samples using the lupin blueprint stamps which were shown on Hochanda last month

The first card has a brusho background, with the image stamped in black and clear embossed. Stamped and embossed again onto spare card, both sets of flowers coloured with watercolours  and those on the spare card cut out and glued at an angle over the first image.Matted onto dark brown card, then added to a card blank coloured the  with distress oxides and stamped with smaller images from the set in the same colours.

The second card was stamped in versamark and white embossed onto white card, then coloured with yellow and grey brusho powders. The flowers were painted with brushos too, and the sentiment added using black ink. The card blank was coloured with distress oxides in grey and amber, and again stamped randomly with smaller stamps from the set.

techno florals

My first card uses the main stamp from the sweetpeas set stamped over a distress oxide background - I used a red and a yellow onto a mat and lots of water to create the background, then coloured the image with distress marker pens.  I stamped the colours separately, using a stamping platform to make sure the images matched up.
I then used a waterbrush to add more colour

Same background technique for this one, using the wild cornflower set - have to admit that I thought this was a thistle, as it didn't look anything like a garden cornflower! - and purple and green inks.
Stamped just in black, with some extra colour added using a waterbrush and ink picked up from the mat.

Same stamp again, this time on a brusho background, stamped in black and clear embossed.
Base card uses a couple of the smaller images stamped in blue with green brushed round the edges to take the white down and tone in with the brusho

I seem to have missed scanning some of the lily samples I did, but this one I did find.
Grey brusho powder on watercolour card,  main image stamped in black and clear embossed before adding colour using watercolour paints.
background images added using grey ink, and the sentiment stamped in versafine and white embossed
