Girly Gears and Soft Steampunk (by Asha)

Good morning, friends. I'm back with two projects featuring stamps from the Steampunk Butterfly A5 sheet.

First up is this this feminine number with soft colours. I inked up the background with Distress Inks and stamped the gears from Steampunk Butterfly with light grey ink. Then I heat embossed the large butterfly on purple cardstock with gold embossing powder and popped it up with foam tape.  The sentiment is from Patchwork Landscape A4 sheet.

My second card is a striking red-black-white combo. For this card I stamped the quarter lace fragment from the Steampunk Butterfly A5 sheet to form a complete circle and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. And voila - a lace doily! Keeping it simple with a sentiment from the  Pretty Poppies A5 sheet, heat embossed in red onto a piece of vellum. In keeping with the focal image, I also rounded the corners of the card.

There you have it - my feminine take on the steampunk style. I hope you'll have fun playing with these stamps.

Thank you for stopping by today and don't forget to come back for more mind-blowing designs from the rest of the team.

Beijinhos,
Asha

  1. Two really pretty cards Asha and the blue and gold butterfly stands out beautifully from the lightly stamped background with the cogs which make a great overall pattern. The striking lace circle again works beautifully with the white embossing on black and the red base card and sentiment with the gems finish it perfectly. Fantastic lining up of the quarter circle shape to make the whole which is difficult to do with a rubber stamp. I have never quite mastered this and wonder if there are any extra tips you could give as to how to achieve this. x

    1. Thanks Pat. Honestly there's no real trick. I stamped and heat embossed one quarter fragment at a time. I use a stamp positioner to guide me ... but that is all. In all honesty, the design isn't too difficult to match up. Sorry I don't have any fancy tricks or tools... just good fashioned eye-balling. :) xxx Asha

The butterfly is gorgeous in the purple and gold, and I love the red and black design, Kate x
