Honeysuckle x 2 (by Veronica)

We all loved playing with the floral stamps , and it is quite hard to choose which ones to show you this month, and I finally went for two versions of the honeysuckle butterfly. For a change, no brusho involved! Instead I used a small circular gelli plate to create the background.
I did several backgrounds and then chose the ones I used, and to be honest I am not sure now which colours of distress ink I used - I think the first one used oxides. I inked the plate up with the yellow direct from the pad, spritzed with water and pressed onto the card. Spritzed again and pressed onto a different part of the card. Repeated using two different green inks, then stamped the honeysuckle butterfly using black versafine ink and clear embossing powder. Coloured using the Koh-i-noor watercolour paints, added turquoise and black mats and mounted onto a white card blank

For the second card I just used one colour of ink and added it to the gelli plate using a brayer, so a much more even coverage. Stamped four times to get the background.
Image stamped using grey versafine and coloured with watercolour pencils. The butterflies were stamped onto spare card in black versafine and coloured with watercolour paints, then cut out and stuck over the original images to give a feeling of distance.

  1. These sets of flower and butterfly stamps are all so pretty but I think the Honeysuckle is my favourite, well today it is I love both versions Veronica and the bolder background on the first goes beautifully with the stronger colour in the flowers, but a great idea on the second to do the background with circular shapes which gives a sort of spotlight effect, and the softer colour to the flowers tones really well, and the idea of colouring the butterflies on separate card and adding them over the originals does give lot of depth to the scene. Two gorgeous cards! x

  2. This is such a gorgeous stamp Veronica and you've coloured it up beautifully, I love the colours you've chosen too, Kate x

  3. These are gorgeous, love the colours you have used.

  4. Two beautiful cards. Thank you.

  5. It never fails to amaze me how you can change the look of a card just by changing the background, and how different these two cards look. As I’m a great fan of anything inky, I adore the first one x
