Today's design is a combined project between Judith and myself using the new sewing stamps. We decided to do a shared card when we were in Portpatrick last weekend having loads of inky fun at Glenda's first workshops.
Judith started off our 'round robin' by stamping the lace border from The Sewing Room stamp set across an 8" square card. After masking off the top and bottom edges of the lace she coloured the centre panel using shades of orange and yellow ink and then stamped a selection of the sewing images to create the background. At this point she posted it to me, complete with a piece of spare card coloured with the same shades of ink.
I stamped and embossed the embroidered flower, from the Floral Mannequins set, 5 times on the coloured card and then fussy cut. I used the sentiment from the Thinking of You Sentiments clear stamp set and finished the card by attaching the flowers with gel adhesive.
I know that many of you craft alone and would love to be able to share your creativity with crafty friends, only distance is an issue. Well why not start your own round robin? Come up with an idea between you and then share the making and finishing of the project. Not quite the same as being in the same craft room, but it can be a great experience to share your work as Judith and I did.
Oh and just in case you wondered, from the original idea to finished project this card completed a journey totalling approximately 633 miles. Proof that you can do things together even if you are miles apart.

ReplyDeleteLovely card, the lace and sewing elements are super, Kate x
ReplyDeleteA really super idea & I particularly like the aptness of that sentiment for the project. The black & white elements compliment the vibrancy of the central panel & cascading flowers with their graduated colouration from yellow to red beautifully.

such lovely warm colours and great use of the stamps too - fabulous x
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of sharing a project and the finished result is beautiful. That lace border is so pretty with the sewing items stamped on to it and the gorgeous lace flowers on top work perfectly. A wonderful combined effort. x

So happy to find at last the time to drop in the blog today and see this wonderful card made with joy at four hands!! :D Well done Judith and Lesley, thank you for this lovely share of your joint art. And also for the idea of launching an own round robin.. I'm part of those ladies you evoke that always craft alone because of the distance from my crafty friends... Thank you both! :) Coco xxx
