Tranquil Wisteria (by Glenda)

And breathe ....

We've just had the busiest two days ever at Chocolate Baroque as we battled through the mountain of orders placed during the holidays (thank you everyone!).  Our stamp pixies have been working the presses as fast as their little fingers could fly and packets and parcels have been flying out of the door.

So a little Tranquility is just what's needed to recharge the batteries this weekend.

If you click on this image and zoom in on the detail, you may think the skin looks a little weird.  Actually in real life it looks ok, but the camera has bounced light off the white and it's ended up looking like a bad case of eczema!  You see the whole thing has been stamped onto a coloured background.  I decided to lighten the skin with my Picket Fence marker before colouring with skin tones and it didn't really work.  The marker didn't seem to do much until I added colour over the top, at which point it looked a little blotchy, so I went over that with pencils.

I stamped the wisteria by colouring the stamp with distress markers and misting with water before stamping several times in various shades of purple.  Some have come out quite watery and abstract, while others are sharper. After it was dry, I stamped a few times with archival ink over the top.

The main image is watercoloured with distress markers and there's a bit of coloured pencil over the top too.  The background card is stamped with Versafine Smokey Gray.

Here's hoping you get a little tranquility into your weekend too!

  4. Beautiful creation, the skin looks good to me, but you know what we crafters are like Glenda - we always point out the faults lol! It's stunning and I love these stamps, the more we see the more I want them. TFS x

  5. I love the layout of this Glenda & the way the VersaFine Smokey Gray has worked with the pale green. A lovely lesson in Colour Theory & thank you for relating all about the skin colouring - very helpful. The way the blossom top left on the card base is echoed in the image panel itself is lovely & the multiple stampings of the Wisteria branch have created, not only a lovely frame, but a super oriental atmosphere.

  10. This is gorgeous Glenda with all the lovely shades of purple, especially the Wisteria. Also think the grey background stamping on the green card is so elegant. The colouring is beautiful, and I think the dappled sunshine through the trees is reflecting on her face. These stamps and the scenes you can make with them will bring out the inner artist in all of us.
