Hi Folks, I have a couple of Christmas samples for you today, using stamps from our Snowy Scenes/Turtle Doves multi-buy offer. Generally, I like to work with bigger cards, but I found myself making some cute 6" x 6" cards with the lovely images.
My first card was created by stamping the owl image down the side of the card, and extending the tree trunk to the bottom of the card with a black pen. I masked over the image, by stamping onto masking paper, and then stamped a tree image from Reindeer Landscape onto the background twice. The sentiment comes from the same set.
I embossed some snowflakes from the multibuy set onto the background using white embossing powder, and then coloured the background, using Distress Inks. I removed the mask from the owl image, and coloured it with pencils. I added a little bit of glitter glue to the hills, and once this was dry, I attached some organza ribbon before I matted the background to some black card.
My second card was created by sponging a piece of white card with green ink, and then stamping around the edges with the end of the swirly bird and pear image, using the same colour green ink. This gives a subtle tone on tone effect. I die cut a pear image from a piece of old book paper, and coloured this with green and orange inks, before sticking it to my background.
I stamped the bird and pear image in black ink over the die cut pear. I stamped the image again onto a piece of white card, and coloured it with pencils, cutting out the bird, leaves and pears. I decoupaged these onto the die cut pear. I added a sentiment from the Pears and Baubles stamp set.

Both of these are gorgeous Christmas cards. Both are also very elegant which is not always possible with Christmas cards! I absolutely adore those owls and the blue card in particular really appeals to me - probably because of the heat right now lol! Thank you for sharing Karen x

The owls are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteTwo really lovely and cute cards, I love them both! Coco xx
ReplyDeleteI love both these cards, but I particularly like the second with the pear shape cut from script and then that pretty bird placed over the top. I love that colour green, and the background frame from the swirly bird and pear stamp works beautifully. The first card is pretty and love that icy blue. How clever to extend the tree to the bottom of the card and in such a way that you would never know it wasn't meant to be like that. Those owls and the stockings are so sweet, I just love the expressions on their faces, and using the Reindeer Landscape trees in the background works beautifully. x
ReplyDeleteHello Judith
ReplyDeleteOwls made me smile a pretty card!
Love Marg
The second is my favourite - I love the shading of the stamped image & how you've used the pear shape throughout the design but in a subtle manner. The sentiment looks super stamped across the tone on tone stamped edging & the glow of the inked book paper draws the eye beautifully. The embossed snowflakes in the fairest add a super touch of dimension & I like the way the organza ribbon allows one to see through to the snowbank of trees - very atmospheric with that kind of icy frostiness imparted by the very nature of the ribbon.

Two beautiful cards! The second one is so original!

Two really great designs Judith. Love the positioning of all he stamps on the first, a great layout and super colouring. The pear die cut is smashing. I love those colours and the use of the bookprint really adds a great added extra element. Great fussy cutting of the bird and leaves on the design. Great inspiration and well done for getting into the Christmas groove in this heat. Elaine xxx
