Plumage frivolity by Brenda

Good morning and welcome to my first post of March where this month myself and the team have the pleasure of sharing our artwork using the lovely sewing room inspired stamps which Lesley showcased on Hochanda TV last month.

My card at the top is a bit of fun and frivolity, after stamping the dress form form from The Sewing Room onto and Oxide ink background I then masked he bottom of the skirt and stamped the stand of  one of the dress forms on the Haberdashery set as I wanted it taller to allow the feather to flow.

Then I used a stencil and texture paste to add a pattern to the corner and a script stencil with Distress ink to add interest to the background and added the same ink to the corner when dry. Next I stamped the pin cushion and scissors from the Haberdashery stamp set adding colour and a little gold pen and finally added the feather to the dress form and mounted onto a Kraft card base.

The card base for this one is gloss card stock and the background colours built coloured with distress inks and stencil. The inks take a while to dry on gloss card stock but retain a nice sheen but I was then able to use Versaine Clair for all the stamping and heat emboss with detail clear as they stayed wet long enough on the glossy background. The dress form is from The Sewing Room and I used the buttons from both the The Sewing Room and Haberdashery to create a border. I stamped and cut out the little cotton reels and wound cotton on to them, added a pin and some lace and matted and layered onto coordinating cardstock.

My final piece has another Oxide background with images from both The Sewing Room and Haberdashery stamped randomly and the three Mannequins from Floral Mannequins stamped and coloured so coordinated with the backing.

As always I really appreciate your visits and king words of encouragement.

  6. I adore the touch of fun with the feathers added to the dress form on the first Brenda, and the lace down one side and the stamped buttons on the other make a great frame for the dress form and a wonderful idea to add the reels of thread too, and your final card with all the different sewing items stamped in the background is a super accompaniment to the three fabulous mannequins, and what gorgeous colouring and colour combos too. x
