Chocolate Baroque Reader's Gallery

Hello everyone, today sees our monthly review of some of your artwork using stamps from the Chocolate Baroque range. We always love to see what you create using the stamps and like to take this opportunity to showcase your creativity on the Design Team Blog. Sadly this will be the last of these posts, as despite our requests, we have not received any contributions from you via email to add to the blog posts. The posts themselves are very time-consuming to create, searching Facebook, Blogland, Pinterest, etc., and reluctantly, we have decided that this will be the last time that we will share your artwork in this way. We hope that you have enjoyed the posts, and will continue to share your artwork on the Chocolate Baroque Facebook Group.

Chris Offa has created some fabulous Brusho backgrounds and used one to make a card:

She then created a vibrant journal spread using her new elephant stamps, adding beading to the images:

Janny has also used an old favourite, combined with stencilled background to create this fun card:

Akkina's cards have been created using some lovely Christmas images, and this colour combination is really pretty:

The soft grey colour scheme used in Lesley's card is also very effective, showing that you can create very elegant cards without using dramatic colours:

In complete contrast, Kate Currie's card has a real drama with the bold red and white and touches of green:

Shirley's beautiful blue-toned card shows off the white embossing perfectly:

We have a wonderful selection of cards from Miranda next, a stunning feast for the eyes, all using the same basic design, but so beautiful with the different backgrounds and flower choices:

Sue has created a lovely Christmas card, featured on her blog. The added bling on the tree is a very pretty touch:

Kate's use of the large tree stamp in this card is fabulous. Lovely colours that are not necessarily traditional Christmas colours, which makes a refreshing change:

Finally a card from Pat using a chess design. This is a lovely CAS design, perfect for a masculine card, or simply a chess lover:

Good morning, Claire here with a project made using the beautiful new stamps Floral Notes. I love Christmas crafting but these new stamps are perfect if, like me you fancy a change from making all those Christmas cards.

I took some black tags and used a sticky embossing powder that I've had forever, I wasn't sure if it had gone off so I put it to the test, stamping with versamark and applying the powder before heating. Once I'd heated the powder I applied mica powders with a small brush. I heat embossed the sentiments and applied some gilding wax around the edges of the tags and added some rainbow ribbon to finish off.

Well I'd better get back to those Christmas cards now lol

 I have been playing with one of my favourite Christmas images, the lovely angel of light.
This one was stamped directly onto a 5"x7" black card blank, (with fingers firmly crossed that it would be straight!), using versamark and stamp'n'bond powder, then a gold mix of gilding flakes.I had originally thought of trimming it down and layering it up, but decided to leave it as it was.



The second version was actually started first, using the silver soft form relief paste to cover the stamp after brushing some areas with mica powder.
Once it had dried, I found that I hadn't put enough powder on to add colour, so painted over with more mica pigments mixed with water. I wanted a starry background, so sprayed the black base card with white decoart shimmer mist - got a bit more of a nebula than starshine though,,,,,,,







The final version was stamped onto white card with versamark and a black sparkle embossing powder, then coloured with mica powders mixed with water.
I tore the card close to the image, using a ruler to get the torn edges as straight as possible, then added blue, silver and lilac matts before mounting onto a white card blank.
The blue and lilac matts were coloured round the edges using the same mica powders used on the angel.




I have left plenty of space to add a greeting, once I have decided where this one is going, I shall leave the first two without a greeting on the front.

A King Is Born (by Asha)

Good morning, friends! It is my turn to bring you a little Chocolate Baroque inspiration. Today, on the Second Sunday of Advent, I want to share with you a festive Art Journal page.

This project showcases the Angel from A Child Is Born, coloured with alcohol markers. I also used the Gothic window from Texture Fragments to add interest to the background.

I applied lots of sparkle and shine to the Angel and to the Texture Pate swirls for that magical effect To create the night sky, I painted the background with acrylic paints and finished it with some white splatters.

Christmas in Red and Kraft (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I've always loved the clean and simple style of Christmas card. I have made some very quick designs using kraft card to share with you today.

I stamped part of the Christmas Tree Tangle single stamp onto a piece of kraft card using red ink, and added a sentiment. I edged the card with the same ink, and attached some red and white baker's twine. I then adhered the background to a kraft card blank. The card took mere minutes to make, and would be ideal for batch card making. If like me, you have lots of cards to send, speedy cards like this will save lots of time.

I decided to make the same card in a couple of other colour options, and chose a deep blue, and an olive green. I added some tiny gems for a bit of sparkle, and added either baker's twine, or gingham rbbon to finish the card.

Good morning Lovelies and happy December, where has this year gone?

I'm so excited to be flying out to Canada on the 9th to spend Christmas with my beautiful daughter for 3 weeks, we've just returned from Morocco after 11 days holiday.

I've scheduled this post so forgive me for not going into holiday details, I needed to get ahead with all my DT work. It's been an emotional time lately with moving our gorgeous foster boy onto adoption, so I think I've deserved the breaks?

So onto my project, I've use one of the stamps from the stunning new set - Floral notes

I started by randomly stamping the wording around the edges using a grey inkpad, then using one of Lesley's fab techniques - inking up an acrylic block with various colours, spritzing with water and swiping across the tag, once dry I then added droplets of water here and there and heat dried to create more texture. I love this technique and the results. I stamped the flowers twice, once onto the tag itself and again onto some spare card, coloured with distress markers and a water brush, cut just the flower heads and buds out and decoupaged.

Faux Candles (by Julie)

Hello crafters! The countdown has begun...are you ready? What do you mean no!

If you would like a quick decoration idea then you are in luck as I have two faux candles to show you. They are both stamped with the rather lovely Winter Edges and really don't require too much effort.

Firstly take some copier paper and place it down in portrait style. Ink up the Winter Church Edge with Onyx Black Versafine and stamp along the bottom of the page to make a continuous border, then cut your page so it measures approx 8.5 cm high. You will need to cut a piece of acetate the same size.

You will then need to reach for your Pan Pastels and sponge over Blues and Greys, with yellow around the silhouette. Take off the excess dust with a kitchen towel before patting the entire strip of paper with Versamark, or any other clear embossing ink before adding clear embossing powder and heating. Do this twice so you have a nice smooth finish.

Next step is to staple your pre-cut acetate to make a cylinder and then wrap your embossed design around the outside and secure with double sided tape. Dab silver Distress Paint around the edges, top and bottom, then place the finished candle over a battery operated tea light.

The Christmas tree candle is made in the same way, however I allowed more height to take account of the design being taller than the Winter Church scene, so this candle is 10.5 cm tall. The trees were coloured with brush markers and I swapped the dark blue Pan Pastel for a lighter, icier blue.

Fifteen Minute Cards

Hello everyone, it's time for our second compilation of quick cards and projects brought to you from the Design Team this month. We have another bundle of inspirational ideas to share with you that can be made in a flash, and still produce stylish and elegant projects, all using fabulous Chocolate Baroque stamps.

We hope that you enjoy this month's selection.

Asha has created a card using one of our lovely Fluttering Hearts images, and combined this with a quick stencil background:

Rachel has created two lovely Christmas cards, stamping her images, then masking them, and adding a background strip using Distress Inks:

Anne has made two cards to share with you; the first incorporates stamps from the Tall Trees and Words of Wisdom stamp set. The background was created by spritzing and splattering with lime green and bright pink ink sprays. She then quickly stamped the trees with lime and dark green ink. The sentiments were stamped in dark green ink. She used green alcohol marker to frame the image before gluing to the card and added faux stitching with a fine-tipped pen. Finally she added PVA pearls and glitter glue for her usual sparkle:

For her second card, she has chosen a pretty image from the Wild Meadow stamp set, and a sentiment from the Mackintosh Sentiments stamp set.  She stamped the images onto an ink spritzed background and heat embossed using white embossing powder.

Corine has provided us with another delightful Christmas card, what's not to love about this CAS design, using the elegant reindeer from the Damask Reindeer stamp set?

Claire has used the same basic technique for each her cards, adding ink to an acrylic block with gridlines to create the background, but chosen a variety of colours and images to create a stunning range of cards:

She has added hand drawn borders to each of the images, avoiding the need to mat and layer the backgrounds.

The textured acrylic block has created a pattern on the background, doing two jobs at the same time.

Brenda has created a selection of cards for us; the first was created by masking the edges of a square piece of card and using Distress Ink to repeat stamp inside the mask. She used two stamps from the Butterfly Flourish Swirls stamp set to create the background. The sentiment is computer generated.

For her second card, she stamped the willow from the Spring Foliage stamp set using three colours of Distress Ink, and matted the images onto co-ordinating card. She added a computer generated sentiment.

For her final card, she die cut a heart, and stamped sentiments from the Words of Inspiration and Pretty Poppies stamp sets onto the heart. She fixed some black and white ribbon across the botttom of a white card blank and placed the heart over the top.

Zoe has created some Christmas tags, using coloured embossing powder to create variety in the designs. These would be great for colour co-ordinating with your wrapping paper:

Finally we have an elegant card from Lesley, who created the card by stamping the image onto the card with Versamark, and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder. She stamped the sentiment with Black Archival Ink, and coloured the lettering using pencil crayon. To finish, she added sticky backed gems for baubles:

Today I want to show you how I play with short pieces of paper colored with my Gelli plate and a single stamp. But what a beautiful stamp ! Here it is...

Red Postbox (by Magda) - Vintage Postbox

I like to experiment and thought it would be interesting for me to see the result of transforming a school blackboard into a Christmas decoration.

Here for you the result of this project :

1. Clean a school blackboard and wipe it with the Magic Anti-Static Bag
2. Stamp on the blackboard the new stamp Vintage Postbox Single Rubber Stamp  with Versamark and emboss with Wow Embossing Powder Clear Gloss
3. Colour the postbox with Distress Paint -  Fired Brick  several times till you are happy with the colour 
4. Colour the fence with Distress Paint - Walnut Stain
5. Put some Distress Paint - Fired Brick and Mowed Lawn on both sides of the bottom of the postbox  
6. Add Soft Form Relief Paste - Pearl to create the snowflakes using a stencil, the snow on the fence, on the postbox and on the ground using a spatula
7. Colour the wooden frame of the blackboard  with Distress Paint - Black Soot, then use a gold metallic acrylic to give an antique look to the frame. 
8. Punch some holly leaves and colour them with gold metallic acrylic and with Distress Paint - Mowed Lawn and glue the leaves as decoration
9. Finish the project adding a golden ribbon and some Stickles - Star Dust on the snow and on the leaves

I hope you will try to paint a school blackboard too and will enjoy this experiment.

Floral Notes With Love card created for Chocolate Baroque

Good morning. Today I am sharing a quick card using the lovely new Floral Notes stamp set. There are so many gorgeous images in this set.

Materials:

• Floral Notes and Mackintosh Sentiments stamp sets
• A6 scalloped card blank (red), white stamping card and a strip of copy paper
• Versafine inkpad (Onyx Black)
• Pencil and watercolour paint (red)
• Alcohol marker and fine tipped pens (black)
• Sparkle brush pen (clear)

How to make it:

1. Trim the stamping card to fit the card front. Cut a strip of copy paper and lay onto the card front (mask). Stamp the images in black. Stamp again onto spare card and cut out one of the flower heads.
2. Using the fine tipped pen draw the border and fill in any little gaps in the stamping (i.e. so that they join up with the border). Colour the lower edge of the border with pencil.
3. Colour the flower head with watercolour. Curl the petals slightly and glue to the card.
4. Brush over the flower petals with sparkle pen. Difficult to see in the photo but it just gives a little lift to the design.
5. Outline the topper with alcohol pen and glue to the card front.

Good morning, friends. Christmas is just around the corner. Oh yes it is! Tomorrow is Advent Sunday and what better excuse to share a festive make with you featuring the brand new Mr Robin stamp.

I know Mr Robin is a red breasted chap but I decided to give him a red coat this Christmas instead. So here he is, proudly perched on a mince pie. I coloured him him alcohol markers and used texture paste to add wintery interest to the background. And don't forget lashings of glitter and shine... it is Christmas after all!

holly script

A very easy card from me this time, using one of the older sets, holly script.
I had a play with some old mica powders and the soft form relief paste this time. I dusted the stamp with red and green mica powders on the berries and leaves before covering it with the silver relief paste and leaving it to set.
Once dry, I carefully peeled it off and mounted it onto a piece of black card, then onto a 15x15cm white card blank. I was pleased that the mica powders are firmly held by the the paste, and don't rub off.

Christmas Magic (by Penny)

Hello everyone, today sees the last of our visits from Guest Design Team member Penny Butler this month. She has designed a card using the first stamps that she ever bought from Chocolate Baroque. Hello there, I've got a Christmas card for you today. I love the Nordic colours of red, blue and white on kraft card, and the tree stamps from the Christmas Flourish stamp set are perfect for a tag card. I blended red, blue and green Distress Inks onto white card for the background panel. I faux bleached a Holly flourish stamp randomly over the panel and added some words. I blended green Distress Ink around the edges, coloured another panel in red as a border, and matted and layered them.

I stamped and embossed the corner flourish image in white onto kraft card, then atached the background panel. I stamped the trees onto another piece of kraft card and used red, white and blue embossing powders. I cut the card into three tags with a tree on each, and edged each tag with green ink, punched holes at the top, and threaded twine through. I added a sentiment to complete this festive card.

Good morning, Claire here with a card featuring one of the new stamps called Mr Robin, I adore robins and mince pies so this stamp is going to be one of my all time favourites.

I stamped the image and coloured it with Lyra Polycolour Pencils. I inked around the image using distress inks (Pine Needles and Festive Berries) and then added a little distressing with Gathered Twigs. I stamped and embossed a holly border using one of the little stamps from Family Christmas with versamark ink and used a chunky embossing powder, and then added a sprinkle of gold frantage powder. I stamped the sentiment and added a bow topped with a little button and some twine to finish the card.

Krafty Mr Robin (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I have a quick Christmas card to share with you today, using one of the new single Christmas stamps, Mr Robin.

I stamped and embossed the image onto a piece of kraft card using white embossing powder, and painted it using Brushos and a waterbrush. I edged the card with Peeled Paint Distress Ink.

I had the background piece of card left over from another project, already coloured with Brushos, and I simply stamped the holly image from the Holly Script stamp set over the background using the same colour Distress Ink as before.

I attached some red ribbon to the background before assembling the card, and used some green card as a base layer.

Ornaments in Black and Gold by Zoe

Good morning Lovelies, I'm back with my second post this month with some more ornaments for the Winter/Christmas theme for Chocolate Baroque.

I'm currently in Morocco having a nice sunny holiday having just moved our darling little foster boy onto adoption,( I mentioned in my last post about it) we will be home for a week and half, then fly out to Canada for 3 glorious weeks with our darling daughter for Christmas, I'm so excited, it's been over a year and a half since we were there seeing her last.

It's been a sad time as it always is seeing these little darlings Flourish with our care and saying goodbye, but it's also a wonderful thing knowing that we have been instrumental in creating a lovely little family with hopefully a well adjusted little one? We get to visit him in his new home before we go to Canada.

So here are my projects.

I used some MDF shapes I've had lying around in my stash for years, I painted them with some gold glittery paint, stamped using Onyx Black Versafine inkpad and heat embossed using a black embossing powder. I used elements from Snowflake Flourish set for the plaque and the rags I've used Harlequin Christmas
