Christmas Baubles (posted by Judith)

Hello everyone, Christmas is edging ever closer, as we are constantly reminded by TV adverts and social media. I don't know about you, but I am always wishing that I had more of my cards made ready to send for the Christmas season. I have made a relatively quick card to show you today that could be made up as a batch card, using some of your left over paper scraps.

I made a background using watercolour paper and Distress Inks, and then added further colour with a stencil. I chose a palette of green and purple, one of my favourites. I stamped the ivy flourish from the Beautiful Baubles clear stamp set across the top of the background using green ink, and added the sentiment across the bottom. After drying the background thoroughly, I stamped and embossed the chains and baubles using Versamark and gold embossing powder. I stamped the baubles again onto some scrapbook paper and decoupaged them onto the background. Some dark green card completes the card.

The possibilities are endless with this card layout, you can mix and match the colours that you use, or change the flourish that you use at the top. It really is a versatile stamp set and I hope that you have as much  fun creating cards with it as I have. Thanks for stopping by, Judith xx

Butterfly Stepper Card using Exquisite and Owl Edges (by Anne)

The new Edge stamp sets are gorgeous – they are so versatile and can be used in so many different projects and mixed & matched with other stamps in your collection. I have combined mine with some patterned paper and stamped butterflies. I hope that you like it.  

 

Materials:

• Exquisite Edges, Owl Edges, Mackintosh Sentiments and Just Butterflies stamp sets
• A5 stepper card blank with main panel approx. 6 X 6 inches
• 6 x6 decorative butterfly paper from Crafty Individuals Background Papers ‘Book 3’ Springtime
• Multicoloured dye based inkpad (blue, purple, green)
• Alcohol ink pens (blue, pink, yellow, green, purple), fine tipped marker (purple), Polychromos coloured pencils (pinks, turquoise, green)
• Clear glitter glue (crystal), Glossy Accents
• Decorative die cuts (from white card) and adhesive

How to make it:

1. Stamp the border along the top and bottom edges of the decorative paper.
2. Stamp the sentiment and small floral motif. Extend the stems by drawing with fine liner pen. Colour the floral motifs with pencil.
3. Trim the paper slightly to fit onto the card base and give a fine border of the white card showing. Enhance the edges with green ink and glue on the die cuts.
4. Stamp the steps masking the card where needed using a sheet of scrap paper. Glue on the card front.
5. Stamp the butterflies and colour with alcohol ink pens. Glue to the card.
6. Add Glossy Accents to the butterfly bodies. Finish by adding sparkle with glitter glue.

Exquisite edges (by Miranda)

Hello crafty people,

Today I have another sample to show you. I've been playing with fluid inks(like Ecoline), a Joggles stencil (Secret garden) and the beautiful Exquisite edges.

I wanted to keep it simple and I have just stamped the edges using Versafine Imperial purple and coloured afterwards with some color pencils. And as finishing touch a lot of white accents with an acrylic marker.

I have added the sentiment from the Artistic Expressions.

And here is the card......

So if you don't have the time to create an inky background you can also use some beautiful pattern paper and use the same stamping and coloring technique. Or one of Lesley's lovely download papers?

A couple of cards (posted by Claire)

Good morning, Claire here with a couple of cards made with some of this month's new releases. As always Lesley has released some beautiful stamps and this first card is made using stamps from both Gingerbread Christmas and Exquisite Edges. 

I love these ornate edge stamps and I thought this one had a look of mistletoe so I decided to create a Christmas card. I stamped the edge four times on kraft card with Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder. I cut them out and layered them up with 3d foam pads to create a frame. The focal image is from Gingerbread Christmas, again stamped with versamark on kraft card and embossed with white EP. I  stamped the sentiment with  Festive Berries distress ink and used the same ink with a waterbrush to add a little colour to the rest of the image.  I stamped snowflakes from the same stamp set into the corners and again embossed them with white. Once my frame was in position, I added little red pearls and created faux stitching with a white pen. I made some little candy cane 'kisses' by stamping the candy canes onto kraft card with red ink and using a white pen to colour the open areas.

My second card is made using stamps from Owl Edges and Walnut Stain distress ink. 

I began by very lightly applying distress ink to the top 1/3 of the card with a shaving brush, then I masked the moon and hills using copier paper masks and intensified the colour. I inked in a couple more hills, making each slightly lighter.

I stamped the bullrushes stamp across the foreground using both first and second generation stamping. Next I stamped the branches and the owl and used a waterbrush to colour the owl. I inked around the edges and added some string and a little brass owl charm.

These are such lovely stamps to use, I hope you're enjoying all the inspiration from my teamies this month, keep popping back as they've got lots more beautiful projects lined up too.

- let it dry

- stamp with Versamark and emboss with black powder.

- then, write on a white paper.

- glue this piece of paper on another piece and glue on the card.

- mettre quelques gouttes d'encres sur la craft sheet

- poser le papier dessus

- laisser bien sécher

- tamponner à la Versamark et embosser avec de la poudre à embosser noire.

- écrire quelques mots sur un morceau de papier blanc

- coller ce morceau de papier sur un autre morceau de papier et le coller sur la carte.

Guest Post - In an Oriental Garden by Brenda Weatherill

I can't believe it is the middle of October and I am welcoming another member of the Guest Design Team on her first post.  I am pleased to introduce you to our third Guest member, Brenda Weatherill.  This week she has a created a beautiful oriental scene, so without further ado I shall hand you over to Brenda.

Good morning everyone, Brenda here and I'm  thrilled to be sharing my first card on the Chocolate Baroque DT blog.

I have been a fan of CB stamps for many years going right back to the days when Glenda used to demonstrate all things inky on TV and as with so many of us, I gained great inspiration from her style of crafting.

The unique designs of CB stamps along with their superb quality makes working with them a pleasure and as I am not a colourist find they work so well with the ink and paint techniques I so enjoy. I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity by Lesley to share my take on working with CB products.

So here is how I created my card using the Oriental Crane clear stamp set.

• I started with a piece of single sided pearl cardstock and used the reverse side to stamp the tree and temple stamp twice using an Adirondack Black inkpad, masking off the bottom ground line before stamping.
• Next I created the hills using a piece of torn paper and PanPastels Phthalo Green, then placed a large circle mask centrally, slightly overlapping the hills and created the sky, again using a piece of torn paper to represent clouds and PanPastels Magenta Shade. After removing the mask I used a little PanPastels Diarylide Yellow to shade the sun and clouds.
• I then masked the crane and upper section of the crane stamp and inked just the bullrushes and stamped across the bottom of the scene. Using the smaller of the cherry blossom stamps I stamped several times across the top of the scene and added a little shading and colour to the trees and temples with pencils.
• Using co-ordinating cardstock I matted and layered the scene onto a white base card and finally added some liquid pearls to the blossoms.

Exquisite and Owl Edges by Zoe

Good morning, back again with 2 samples using the fab new edge stamp sets - Exquisite Edges and Owl Edges you can purchase them here

My first card was very simple, I wet some watercolour card with plain water and just lightly washed over watercolours in a pastel blue and pale grey and dried with my heat tool, I inked up the Reeds from the Owl Edges set using Forest Moss Distress Inkpad, I lightly spritzed with water before stamping to create a watercolour style image, once dry I added some gold glitter glue very lightly on the reeds, the birds are from Landscape Edges and sentiment is Words of Inspiration

My tag is another very simple make, Linen texture card, I stamped using Versamark inkpad with one of the gorgeous Exquisite Edges, I swiped over using 3 shades of Bright Yellow Green Pan Pastels, once I was happy with the blend I sprayed with cheap hairspray to set the pastels, I used Forest Moss Distress ink to stamp the floral edge from the Owls Edges set, the sentiment is See Beauty clear stamp set.

Owl Edges - Cards By Florence

Hi everyone

Today I would like to share with you two cards made with the fabulous Owl Edges. 

The Owl Edges are a new addition to the Chocolate Baroque Edges Range which can be seen here.

To make this card
Stamp, emboss and color in the floral edge.
Take a mask and Distress Inks and create the pattern on the background.
Stamp the corner flourishes and "Tranquility".

To make this card

Stamp and emboss the Owl Edge.
Take a mask and Distress Ink and create the pattern on the background leaving a clear space for the small Owl.
Stamp the small Owl and the Sentiment.
Make up the card as seen.

Exquisite, Elegant Edges (by Debbie)

 

Good morning.

 

I was lucky to see the Owl and Exquisite Edges in the early stages of production and I must say Lesley has done a marvellous job of putting them together. They are going to feature regularly in my cards.

 

 

 

For both cards I chose to stamp the Exquisite Edges with Versafine and embossed with black powder as I wanted them to stand out from the Brusho backgrounds. I had made a few A4 backgrounds so had ample for stamping the Sunny Sunflowers and Waterlily Mandala. For the first card I added a little colour with pens to edge.

Exquisite Cards (by Julie)

Hello Crafters, hope your weekend is going well. Today is my turn to show you what I have been making with the fantastic new Exquisite stamps that have just been released by Chocolate Baroque.

My first card has been created using the new Owl Edges, along with Artistic Expressions for the sentiment.

I cut a mask for the moon using a circle die and created the background with Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Hickory Smoke Distress inks. I blended them together with Cut n Dry foam and a few touches from a water brush. The sentiment and the bulrushes were stamped with Onyx Black Versafine and the card was finished off by adding white highlights to all of the stamped images.

My second card comes courtesy of the lovely Exquisite Edges set. This set is so versatile and doesn't have to be used just for edges.

I started by stamping the decorative edges with Grey Versafine and then covered the entire background with Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink.

I inked up the Art Deco style, flower edge with Watering Can Archival ink and stamped it a few times onto plain white stamping card. Next take three different sized circle dies and select which parts of the flowers you want to cut and then put them through your die cut machine.

I have coloured the flowers with Polychromos pencils, glittered them with a Hologram Viva glitter pen and finished the card off by edging everything with Weathered Wood Distress ink.

I hope you have managed to catch up with one of our TV shows on The Craft Channel. It has all be very exciting if not a little hectic and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your encouraging and supportive comments. This means a lot to all of us at CB towers, we are a team and so on behalf of Sue, Val, Judith, Debbie, Julie, Claire, Zoe, Ann, Florence, Asha, Miranda, Dominike and myself

YOU ARE ALL BRILLIANT!

I also appreciate that many of you may not yet be able to watch this channel and so I am posting one of the cards I demonstrated on the first show.

• To achieve this card take a piece of patterned paper, I used one from the Crafty Individuals paper pad Travels in Italy and stamp the large tree from Patchwork Landscape in Versafine Onxy Black. 
• Use a black fineliner pen to extend the outline at the bottom of the tree so that it is grounded.
• Use coloured pencils similiar to the colours in the paper to colour the foliage of the trees and use shades of green and yellow to create the slope under the tree.
• Stamp the word Imagine, from Artistic Expressions and then mat and layer on to first black card, then a toning background paper (the one I used was kindly donated by Judith and was made with her Gelli Plate) and finally on to a large 8" square black card.

I hope this will encourage you to look at your background papers in a different way and that you will give this technique a try.

Owls and edge rubber stamps (by Dominike)

Since a few days I have fun with the stamps you can find here.
Depuis quelques jours je m'amuse avec les tampons que vous pouvez trouver ici sur le site CB.

I teach for scrappers and in my workshops, I use to offer a little gift to each participant.
This one is a little paper bag. I make the background with a gelli plate, acrylic paints and stencils. I stamp the owl on the branch in a white circle and the edge in the bottom of the paper.I emboss with clear powder. Then, I glue this paper on the bag.
Both notebooks are made in the same way.
Pour les ateliers de scrap que j'anime, j'ai l'habitude d'offrir à chaque participant un petit cadeau.
Celui-ci est un petit sac en papier. J'ai fait le fond avec la Gelli plate, des peintures acryliques et des stencils. J'ai tamponné à l'encre noire et embossé avec de la poudre transparente. Puis, j'ai collé le papier sur le sac.
Les deux carnets ont été réalisés de la même façon.

Give A Hoot Hoot Hoot! (by Asha)

Good morning, fellow Chocoholics. It's my turn to show you the October release stamps in action. My projects today feature stamps from the Owl Hedges A5 sheet.

In this card, I've used the individual owls and the grassy border from  Owl Hedges  to create a scene where the owls are looking out from a crack in the side of a barn.  To create the barn wall I embossed a piece of card stock with the wood grain folder and dirtied it up with distress inks. Then cut it into ½" strips, inked the sides and rearranged them. Next I tore a hole and adhered the strips down. Then came the grassy border and the sentiment from Words of Comfort stamp set on a piece of vellum. Finally the owls: coloured with Faber-Castell Polychromos, fussy cut and adhered in the opening.

More owls on my second card. This time I'm showcasing the row of owls on a branch from the Owl Hedges sheet. I created the background by blending Distress Inks and stamping the the row of owls and added a little movement with a stamp from the Seasonal Fragments sheet.  Then I stamped the owls again on a separate piece of card, coloured with Faber-Castell Polychromos, fussy cut just the owls and adhered them to the card. Finally, a greeting from the Birthday Words sheet.

Owl you need is Love (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I hope that you are enjoying the inspiration provided by my Design Team Mates using the current Stamps of the Month. I have chosen to make a tag using the Owl Edges rubber stamp sheet.

I started my project by creating a wrinkle free distress background on a plain tag, using Distress Inks. I stamped the bullrushes across the bottom of the tag, and added the small branch up one side of the tag. I stamped the little owl onto a sticky label and then coloured it with pencils. I also coloured the branches with pencils. I added some shading around the edges of the tag, and stamped a sentiment from the Steampunk Birds rubber stamp set onto the background.

Finally, I added some co-ordinating ribbon to the tag.

Ruby Wedding Card using the new Exquisite Edges Stamp Set (by Anne)

I love the new Exquisite Edges stamp set. It is so versatile and useable on a multitude of projects.

I have used one of the lovely borders to create an Art Deco style Ruby Wedding Card for my friend’s anniversary. They don’t do computers so I am sure that they won’t mind my sharing.

 

Materials:

• Exquisite Edges stamp set
• A5 white card blank, pearlescent white card for stamping
• Versafine Inkpad (Onyx Black)
• Clear embossing powder
• Alcohol ink pens (black and red)
• Adhesive, sticky foam pads and 3D glue gel
• Dies for decorative mat and heart, and personalised sentiment printed from computer

 How it was made:

1. Stamped the border with black ink three times onto pearlescent card, and embossed with clear powder. Coloured the image with red alcohol pen.
2. Cut out the various elements, enhanced the edges with black pen, layered and glued to the card front.

I printed a personalised sentiment from my computer but you could stamp any message to suit your own project.

Have a truly amazing Birthday......(by Miranda)

Hi there lovely people,

Today I will show you my first take on the new stamps. I have played with the new beautiful Exquisite edges. They combine so beautiful with all the Art Deco/Nouveau style stamps which Chocolate Baroque has in their collection.

I have combined them with the Fabulous Flappers and a sentiment from the Amazing Birthday wishes.

Well now onto my card.........

I have stamped the edges with several Memento colors; Peanut Brittle,Morocco, Potters Clay, Rhubarb stalk and Rich Cacao. The center piece was blended with matching Distress inks. I stamped a part of the edge with white ink. I stamped a part of one of the ladies of the fabulous flappers and coloured her with color pencil and some white acrylic marker accents.

I really love this style of stamps and I will be happy to play more with them, so next time more art deco style from me.

Good morning, Claire here with my first sample created using this month's new stamps. As always the stamps are a real joy to work with. This morning's card features some of the stamps from Owl Edges.

This was a very quick card to make using white cardstock and a Vintage Photo Inkpad. I began by lightly dusting some ink over the top half of the card with a stencil brush. Then I masked the moon and tore a paper mask for the hills and dusted more ink around the moon. I carried on creating the background by moving the paper mask down and dusting ink over to create the hills.

Next I stamped the branch and owl and used a water brush with a little more ink to colour the image. I stamped the bullrushed at the bottom of the card using first and second generation stamping. Next I distressed the edges with a craft knife and applied some more ink using an ink blending tool. 

To finish off I've added some twine and a little owl charm.

My teamies have created some stunning projects with this month's new stamps so don't forget to keep checking back for more inspiration.

Owl Edges by Zoe

Good morning. Today I am very pleased to be sharing with you my sample using the fabulous new stamp set "Owl Edges" in fact there are 2 new gorgeous Edge sets this month you can purchase them here

I love these little guys, such cute little faces and great expressions here's how I created it -

I applied Distress inks - Picked Raspberry, Dusty Concord, Blueprint Drawings and Mermaid Lagoon onto some stamping card using a distress blending tool, I then sprinkled some water onto it and patted dry with paper towel, I used a stencil to create the rays of light by spritzing water through it and again patting dry with paper towel and heat dried, I then stamped the Owls and flowery edge from the set using Versafine Onyx Black inkpad, I like to heat set when using Versafine ink it's oil based and it takes a little longer to dry and I wanted to faux bleach areas of the Owls using a water brush just to add some highlights, the sentiment is Words of Inspiration, I matted and layered onto black card and a linen textured card.
