Fifteen Minute Cards

Hello everyone, it is time for our monthly compilation of quick cards made in fifteen minutes or less. Each month, the Design Team come together to bring you a host of designs and tips to help you create projects in next to no time. If you are looking for batch cards for Christmas, for a Wedding or moving house, etc., then we can help with design ideas to inspire you. If you sell cards at craft fairs or for charity, you can use Chocolate Baroque stamps to make your cards, no problem. If you are a beginner crafter, or someone with a bit more experience, there is something within these blog posts that will appeal to you. So, grab a cuppa and enjoy what we have to share with you today.

Carole has created a pretty card in blue tones, using stamps from Briar Rose Butterfly, Harebell Butterfly and a sentiment from Amazing Mackintosh Words. She has used Distress Inks Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers. She stamped the bobble spray image in a circular pattern using the peacock colour, adding second generation stamping in the gaps. She spritzed the card with water so that the colour bled. She pressed the blue inkpad onto a small piece of white card and overstamped with the butterfly section of the Harebell stamp.

Rachel has created a stunning card using one of our newest stamps The Folk Art Garden, stamping the image onto kraft card, using white embossing powder. She has added a pop of colour to key areas of the design with watercolour pencils.

 For her next card, she used some of the smaller images from our Haberdashery range of stamp sets, and repeat stamped them over the background, adding some mica powders once she had finished.

Finally, she stamped the scissors repeatedly to create a background, then using a topper made with alcohol inks, stamped the mannequin using ink to lift some of the background.

Vronnie has created a beautiful Brusho background, adding a white embossed image. She has added more Brusho to the flowers, activating the colour with a damp brush.

The same image takes on a completely different look in this card by Magda. She has stamped the image using black ink, and coloured the flower with watercolour pencils and glitter glue. You can add as much or as little colour to this image as you like, the choice is yours.

Magda has created the following two backgrounds using Distress Ink. The first card she has stamped the images, stencilled with water, and added glitter glue.

For her final card, she has spritzed the background with water and stamped the images with Versafine.

We have some fabulous mail art from Zoe up next, these lovely envelopes are quick to make, but would certainly brighten up anyone's day when they were received through the post.

 Penny has created a romantic card, using bold red and black which adds a bit of Ooh la la to this card! She has coloured the images with alcohol pens and then coloured over the top with a clear sparkle pen.

An assortment of cards from Brenda are next, this pretty floral card in shades of blue and green could be made in lots of different colour options to suit a personal preference.

She has stamped the lace ribbon repeatedly to create a background before adding some of the lace flowers as a focal point.

Adding The Folk Art Garden to a vibrantly coloured background avoids the need to colour the image at all, a very effective way of creating a quick card.

Finally, Brenda has used one of the smaller floral sprays to create a larger image, using a single colour of ink. This monochrome card is fabulous, and could be made in lots of different colours to make a set of cards for a gift or to keep and send for cards in a hurry.

Another monochrome card here from Julie, stamped onto kraft card, using a white pencil for detail and faux stitches added. Such a stylish design, which looks simple, and takes very few materials to create.

We have three beautiful designs from Pat using the sewing stamps. For her first card, she used Distress Inks to create a background. She then added borders down each side using a blue Distress Ink, and added extra blue ink along the edges for shading. She stamped one of the mannequins with the same ink and watercoloured it lightly with both inks using a fairly dry waterbrush. The sentiment was also stamped using the blue ink.

For her second card, she used a gelli print created with white acrylic paint and red Brusho, then a layer of white acrylic and blue Brusho, with the buttons stamped around the edge of the plate with the blue Brusho paint mix before pulling the print. She then stamped the mannequin, some buttons, the small scissors and the sentiment using a dark blue and a light green Distress Ink. She blended some more of the green around the edges before adding the background to a card blank.

Her last card uses stamps from the Haberdashery and Floral Mannequins stamp sets, and for all stamping she used a blue Distress Ink. She added spritzed Brushos in two shades of green to the topper, which was layered onto blue card. She stamped the frilled and floral lace pieces onto the card blank before adding the topper, and finished with a sentiment.

Brushos With Stamping (by Jodie)

Hello everyone, Jodie is back with another project for your inspiration, using Brushos to create a bright, bold background.

Jodie writes:

Good morning everyone, this is my second project for Chocolate Baroque. This time I wanted to try Brusho Crystal Colours with Stamping. The results came out better even than I expected.

Supplies:
Stamps- Loving Sentiments, Exquisite Edges
Colour- Brusho Crystal Colour (Set of 24, Yellow & Brilliant Red)
Inks- Versafine Onyx Black inkpad, Versamark
White embossing powder
Paper-A4 white cardstock, watercolour paper, red cardstock
Water spritzer bottles- pack of 2
Double sided foam tape
Heat Tool
Sequins
Die cut

Cut the watercolour paper to 4" x 5 1/4" (10.16cm x 13.34cm)
Using Versamark, ink up the stamp from Exquisite Edges and stamp onto watercolour paper.
Sprinkle white embossing powder, tap off excess and heat set.
Repeat above two steps on other side of watercolour paper.
If using your Brusho colours for the first time, take a thumb tack and pierce a hole in the top. I cannot stress enough that a little goes a long way.
Sprinkle a tiny bit of both Yellow & Brilliant Red onto the watercolour paper.
Next spritz the paper using the water spritzer bottle and watch the crystals explode with colour.
At this point, you can either add more crystals to deepen the colour, or add more water to get more blending, slightly diluting the colour's intensity.
Where you've embossed, this will act as a resist, really popping out the stamp's design.
Once happy with the result, simply dry the paper using your heat tool.
Next, cut the red cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" (13.97cm x 21.59cm) and fold in half.
Layer your background onto your card base.
Stamp the saying onto the white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and cut out the saying using a die cut.
Attach the saying to the front using foam tape, then adhere the sequins for a bit of added sparkle!

Sew Inspired- Part 2 (by Zoe)

Good morning Lovelies and welcome to my second post this month featuring the gorgeous needlework inspired stamp sets that were on Hochanda last month.

I used the lovely lacy ribbon to create my background, I used Versafine Clair inkpad Warm Breeze, I also used it to blend the edges. I heat embossed the dress forms using gold embossing powder on top of an inky scrap I had that matched the colours. I used a gold glittery marker pen to colour the flowers on the line art dress form.

This was another of my Gel Press backgrounds I had created some time ago and was sitting in my scrap box, I simply stamped onto it and used a gold marker pen to fill in areas.

Finally a set of ATC coins (Artist Trading Coins) 2.5" across to make ATCoins!
I used another one of my Gel Press backgrounds from my scrap box and very simply stamped and heat embossed in white embossing powder, some faux stitching around the edges, very quick and simple.

Give me Wings by Brenda

Morning Peeps, Brenda here with more Sewing Room shares as well as one using the most beautiful Folk Art Garden stamp which Lesley launched on Hochands last month.

My card at the top surprised even me as Steampunk is right outside my comfort zone so when I found myself adding wings to the dressmakers form I was a tad surprised but somehow it seemed to work. I built up the background with Distress Inks and created the circles with lids from embossing powder pots dipping them into inkpads and using them to 'stamp' the circles. I also stamped the lacy edge randomly in blue over the background using third generation stamping to obtain a faded look. The stamping the dressmakers form from The Sewing Room and cutting out and placing over two wings stamped, coloured and cut from Tangled Garden. I added a little chain and buckle and linked to a flower from Floral Mannequins and added a pair of scissors from Haberdashery. Finally some lace ruched up across the top

A little inky indulgence here starting with a Brusho background onto which I stamped Folk Art Garden using Versafine black and heat embossed with detail clear powder and then bleached out some of the colour to add highlights. I tore the edges of the card to give a white edge and added some micro beads along the bottom although they do not show up too well on the photo and then mounted onto a piece of corrugated.

For this one I stamped onto four equal sizes pieces of patterned papers using two dress forms from Floral Mannequins and one  from Haberdashery along with the fancy scissors, mounted them onto a darker piece of paper from the same family and a landscape card and embellished with a die cut leaf and flower.

Floral Mannequins ( By Marga )

Hello everyone, here is Marga again with some new cards.

The first card is a very simple card with only one colour ink stamped and I put some lace in the middle of it. My mother made the flower and I put a button on it.

The second card I made the background with Distress Ink in blue tones and I stamped the image also with blue and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. The scissors are made by my daughter. The stiches on the card I drew by hand and not with the machine.

Here I am again. In March I will post three cards as your guest deisgner. I am very pleased to do this. 

My first project is a card with a watercolour background.

I used stamps from Chequered Flowers, Dusky Damask and the text from Fresh Blooms.

• Make a back ground on watercolour paper with three colours of Aquatint (red, yellow and green). Allow the paper to dry well.
• Splash water on the paper with a fan brush and dab dry with tissue or kitchen roll.
• Stamp the background stamp (from Duksy Damask) with Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade.
• Stamp the Chequered Flowers with black, water resistant ink.
• Stamp the text with Ground Espresso.
• Colour the flowers wioth Aquamarkers.
• Sponge the edges with Distress Oxide Peeled Paint and Ground Espresso.
• Mat and layer onto toning card.

Floral Sewing (by Julie)

Hello, today it is my turn to show you a couple of sewing themed card designs.

For my first card I inked up the plain black mannequin and stamped twice, next to each other, onto spare stamping card and coloured the background with Weathered Wood Distress ink, before matting onto black card-stock. I then stamped both of the floral bodices onto another piece of card, coloured with pencils before cutting out. Both bodices were then placed over the plain black mannequins and glued into place with 3D glue gel.

The base card was stamped with the black mannequin and various sewing items using Onyx Black Versafine ink. All of the stamps used so far are from Floral Mannequins, however the stamped ribbon design on the base card is from The Sewing Room. 

Once stamped the base card was coloured with Distress inks and the card was finished off with two lacy flowers from Floral Mannequins that have been glued into place with 3D glue gel. 

  

My second card is a DL style card that I have stamped with Floral Mannequins. The ribbon design was stamped onto spare card and then cut out and coloured with Polychromus pencils. You will need to stamp the ribbon twice to fit the length of the DL card so make sure the join can be covered by the card toppers.

I have a set of stitched edge, die cut circles, however you can hand draw the stitching on plain circles.

The two larger circles from the set were used to cut the black and white circles for the main image and the lacy flower and floral bodice were layered over the top to create the main topper.

The two smaller circles from the set were used for the little pin cushion topper and was attached towards the bottom of the card. Both the bodice and pin cushion were coloured with Polychromus pencils and the lacy flower was stamped with red Versafine ink.

Sewing fun...(by Rachel)

Hello there! Rachel here today with some more inspiration from the sewing themed stamps.

I started this sample with an oxide background and then added the mannequins from The Sewing Room and Haberdashery and floral mannequins sets. Finally I added some lace from the Sewing Room set. The colouring was done with watercolour pencils.

Next for this sewing dummy - I painted it first in acrylic paint then stamped the dress base border from the floral mannequins set. Next, on tissue I added the flowers from the floral mannequins set, fussy cut and then added these to the mannequin itself. I finally added more acrylic paint.

This piece was first base coated in acrylic paint before adding stamps from Floral Mannequins and Haberdashery. I then painted the rest of the stamped images in. 

In this final card I created a background in alcohol ink then used lift ink and a lace border stamp from The Sewing room. I used relief paste and the two floral mannequins to add a feature to this background.

I hope this has given you some inspiration.

Hello everyone, it is a real treat to have our Guest Design Team member Jodie back with us again this month.  Jodie has created a vibrant card using Brushos for your inspiration.

Good morning everyone,
I am thrilled and homoured to have been asked to do another stint as a Guest Design Team Member for Chocolate Baroque. My first project is a simple card, with a fun background.

For this and my upcoming projects, I wanted to try something that I had never used before. These Crystal Colours certainly pack a whallop and they'll last a while, so definitely a great investment. My card illustrates the basic use of them.

Supplies:
Stamps- Floral Perfumery Rubber Stamp sheet A5
Colour- Brusho Crystal Colour (Set of 24, Crimson & Violet)
Versafine Onyx Black inkpad
Paper- A4 Black cardstock, watercolour paper
Water spritzer bottles- pack of 2
Double sided foam tape
Heat tool
Black photo corner stickers

Cut the watercolour paper to 4" x 5 1/4" (10.16cm x 13.34cm)

The great thing about the Brusho colours is that it's easy to create a bunch of backgrounds at one time, and also colours can be combined to get a ton of different effects.

Spring Day (by Magda)

Hello,
I love the new stamp "The Folk Art Garden" and I used that stamp for my step by step projects of today.

Difficult roads card
1. Colour a white cardstock with Brusho watercolour wash
2. Stencil the drops of Chocolate Baroque Stencil Seasonal Elements using Distress Ink Pad
    Victorian Velvet
3. Stamp the flower of The Folk Art Garden with Archival Jet Black
4. Colour only the flower stem with green Faber-Castell Art Grip Aquarelle Pencils
5. Stamp the sentiment from the same plate The Folk Art Garden and fix it with adhesive dots on
    the card

Spring Day
1. Colour a book front page with a light Yellow colour and stamp randomly with Mowed Lawn 
    Distress Ink Pad in second generation part of the stamp The Folk Art Garden
2. Stencil with Mowed Lawn  Spring Day of  Chocolate Baroque Stencil Seasonal Journey
3. Prepare the label with the sentiment, stamping it in green on a yellow colored cardstock 
4. Cover all the stamp The Folk Art Garden at first with green patina mica and then with a bronze soft
    paste and let dry for some days.
5. Peel the dried film from the stamp, cut the excess all around and glue it on the cover of the book

 This month's stamps are the nearest I get to sewing!
My firsr sample has a brusho background, with several of the stamps randomly stamped using a orangey  ink pad, and buttons stamped round the edges. The two  body stamps were stamped in black versafine and clear embossed onto scraps of brusho card, cut out and glued on.
Card was edged with a black marker pen then added to a white card blank.

My second card started out with the buttons randomly stamped using versamark onto a piece of white card, clear embossed, then sprinkled with brusho in grey and lemon. I thought I had ironed off  the embossing once it was dry, but I obviously missed some - as I found when I overstamped the scissors and cotton reels! I sponged grey distress ink over it all very lightly to tone down the white. The larger dress  and the smaller  were stamped in black and clear embossed on white card, cut out and glued in place.

 The final card had a distress oxide background with plenty of water splats and the cotton reels and thimbles stamped in smoke and amber inks. I used the lace edging and the smaller lace comes from lace fragments set, both stamped in smoke ink across the card. The mannequins were stamped onto scraps of designer paper using black ink and clear embossed before cutting out - they were glued over the joins in the stamping.

There were some gorgeous samples on the show from the team, and I am sure they will appear on the blog during the rest of the month so keep your eyes peeled!

Oriental Mannequins by Penny

Goodly morning everyone, I hope you are all well.  I'm here with my first post of the month, a card featuring the Floral Mannequins  and the Haberdashery sets of stamps, some Distress inks, clear embossing powder and gold gilding wax.  

I began by  taking a piece of white card and stamped one of the mannequins from the Haberdashery set twice and embossed them with clear powder. I masked them both then created the back ground, blending Distress Inks onto white card.  I then stamped several worker stamps randomly over the card, using the same colour inks.

 I stamped and embossed the floral mannequins then painted them with Distress Inks and cut them out.  I removed the masks from the first mannequins and attached the floral  ones over the top with 3D foam pads.  

I took some black embossed card and added gold gilding wax, then attached it to a white base card.  I attached the focal panel onto the card.  On another piece of white card I stamped and embossed one of the lace images a couple of times, cut them out, then attached them to the card. I also stamped and embossed a sentiment tag, a thimble, a pincushion, and some cotton reel images.  I then painted them, cut them out and attached them to the card, adding some ribbon to the tag.

This is a lovely project to do and you can change the colours to suit your own taste.  I think this bright and cheerful card would suit a lot of occasions too.

Stamping On Fabric (by Judith)

Hello everyone, and welcome to my first post of the month for March. As you read this post, I will be on my way to Hochanda for the first of our TV shows for this month, with another show tomorrow. I do hope that you can watch or record the shows to see what Lesley and I have in store for you. The Design Team have created more beautiful projects to inspire you once again.

For my post today, I am taking you back to last month's TV shows, when I created some fabric samples, using the fabulous Haberdashery range of stamps, and want to share a couple of those with you. I have used stamps from Haberdashery, The Sewing Room, and Floral Mannequins stamp sets.

I created a card background using a damp tea bag, which I wiped over a piece of drawing cartridge, then sprinkled some sea salt on top, leaving the background to dry. Once I had wiped the sea salt away, I stamped a range of the little worker stamps from the sets over the background using dark brown ink. I created a tag using scraps of fabric and book paper, then added a mannequin which I had stamped onto kraft card using white embossing powder. I coloured the image with Koh-I-Noor paints. The little sentiment was stamped onto fabric.

The large tag would make a gift in its own right it is so pretty, I made another one in a softer colour option. If you are like me, you have lots of little scraps, and these tags are perfect for adding all of your little bits and pieces. For my TV demo, I simply used double sided tape to attach everything, and did not sew the pieces as I have done in these photographs.

My second project is a little needle case, using lots of the little worker stamps in the stamp sets. I stamped the images onto plain cream fabric using brown Archival Ink, and coloured them with Inktense pencils and a water brush. I added some pretty floral fabric which matched my colours to create the needle case, plus felt for the inside 'pages'.

This was a faily quick project to make and is a great way of using up little pieces of fabric.

I hope that you have enjoyed my projects today, and will try stamping on fabric. As I said during my TV demo, just hold the stamp on the fabric a bit longer than you would on card or paper, there is no need to press any more firmly.

Sew inspiring by Zoe

Good morning Lovelies and a warm welcome to my first post this month using these gorgeous Sewing inspired stamp sets.

I hope you managed to catch the shows on Hochanda with our lovely ladies Lesley and Judith? such fabulous demos!

So here are some of my samples from the shows, I do hope you like them?

My 2 cards here I’ve used up some Gel Press backgrounds I’d made ages ago that were sitting unloved in my scrap box.

The first card I stamped onto the background using Versafine ink pads in Nocturne and one of the browns from the Claire range and also lots of cutting out and decoupaging.

This little card I simply repeat stamped and heat embossed this sweet silhouette sewing machine, I added a strip of Vellum which I’d heat embossed the sentiment and cut out the cute little buttons and adhered.

I made a little set of Greyboard tags which were Gessoed first and spray inked.
