New Nautical Stamps from Kim Moody

Hello everyone, today we are sharing a compilation of projects showcasing the fabulous range of stamps from Kim Moody that launched earlier this month on Hochanda. Kim's stamps, which are manufactured by Chocolate Baroque, are a delightful, quirky representation of life on, and by the sea. They follow his previously brilliant house range of stamps that were launched at the end of last year. There are four A6 sets in the range, featuring a large hero image, accompanied by some great little worker stamps to help you complete some scenes, and these can be mixed and matched amongst the sets. The Design Team had a lot of fun working with the stamps, and we hope that you will enjoy this post, and get lots of inspiration from our projects.

Our first projects are from Kim himself, he coloured A Dip in the Sea using pencils, to create a soft effect, adding lots of the smaller images to build up a beach scene.

The next three images have all been painted with Koh-I-Noor paints, and the watercolour effect is just fabulous. The addition of the smaller images brings each scene to life. Love the seagull coming to land on the Jolly Roger.

The Harbour Master is packed full of details; love the washing hanging out to dry!

Finally Looking out to See! Kim has created an extended path leading to the cafe or the beach, you decide. The seagull looks like he wants to go for a cuppa or a bacon roll, maybe? You can have a lot of fun adding details as you wish, and using your own colour choices with these fabulous stamps.

Brenda created a brilliant selection of samples for the show, her first project was a card using A Dip in the Sea. She created a dark background with lots of sparkle, and used white embossing for the image. She added some Chocolate Baroque foliage stamps and a favourite quote from a book.

To create her next project, she brayered Distress Inks over a background, and die cut a clock. She stamped the beach huts with Versafine Onyx Black onto patterned papers and cut them out and placed to represent the hours of the clock.

Her next few projects are made using a range of alternative surfaces, showing how great these stamps are for home decor projects. She painted white acrylic paint onto a wood panel, stamped the images and coloured them with water based markers. She sponged in the sun rays with Distress Inks using a torn edge of paper and a punched circle.

She coloured a lolly stick base with Distress Inks, masking a sun, then stamped the ship, masked the wall and stamped again to extend at both ends and coloured the image with water based markers. She stamped the other images and added the sentiment.

She used an MDF monolith onto which she applied gesso, then added Distress Ink. She stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and coloured with water based markers.

A few cards now, she stamped the ship, masked and extended the wall, stamped the other images to create a scene, and coloured with Distress Inks and pan pastels.

She stamped with Versafine Onyx Black, and masked in the middle to add another 'level'. She coloured the image with watercolour.

The background for this card was created with gesso and a fine crackle glaze. Brenda stamped the image with a blue Versafine ink. She added some extra pen lines and stencilling.

The background was brayered and stencilled, she then stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black Ink, and added a touch of colour with water based markers.

I used one of Lesley's My Floral Soul papers to stamp the Harbour Master image, using a dark blue Versafine ink. I coloured the image using pencils, coordinating the colours with the paper itself. I added a large 'porthole' cut from metallic card, and added some screw brads to complete the effect. A sentiment was stamped onto a piece of scrap card left from another project.

I stamped the main image from A Dip In The Sea onto kraft card using brown Archival Ink. I coloured the image using pencils, deliberately keeping the image muted. I stamped the smaller images onto three circles from the White Board Hearts and Circles pack. I added a bit of colour around the edges and coloured them in the same colours as before, before adding a thick glaze, and distressing the edges with brown ink.

I chose another piece of Lesley's paper as a background, and then stamped the lighthouse from Looking out to See! onto a piece of Drawing Cartridge. I extended the scene using a permanent black marker, and like Kim, chose to add the signs to complete the foreground. I masked the lighthouse and the signs before painting the background with Koh-I-Noor paints, stamping the clouds with Distress Inks. I edged the panel with black ink before attaching it to the patterned paper, and added a sentiment to finish.

Rachel's cards are all coloured using watercolour pencils, she has created a set of beautiful projects. This beach scene is so cheery, and reminiscent of Summer Holidays.

Her final card has a vibrant background, she stamped the image over the top, and again she has coloured the image with watercolour pencils.

We have some fabulous envelope art from Zoe up next, these are really clean and simple to look at, but how special it would be to receive one of these in the post. They are coloured using Inktense pencils.

Zoe's final project incorporates one of Lesley's papers, and she has combined two of Kim's sets together to create a scene.

Finally, we have had some help from one of our friends Pete Simpson, with samples for this show. Pete very kindly created a batch of gorgeous projects, and clearly enjoyed working with Kim's stamps! He has used a range of colouring mediums on the stamps; pencils, pastels and watercolour. All of the sentiments are from Chocolate Baroque.The first batch of cards are all clean and simple in their style, showing the main images can be stamped with a bit of added colour, and maybe using the extra images as an embellishment here or there, or to create a patterned border.

The next batch of cards show a range of backgrounds created with acrylic paints, Distress Oxides, pigment inks, and spritzers. He has created some really atmospheric backgrounds, great for stormy seas, and our mixed weather conditions!

His final two cards have a real wow factor, using white embossing against a bold background.

Chorus of Birds (by Julie)

Hello, today I have two more bird themed cards.

My first card is a simple little card stamped with Let Your Heart Sing and Live Out Loud.

The little bird and foliage silhouette from Let Your Heart Sing was inked up with blue Versafine and stamped along the bottom edge of the card blank. The rest of the card blank was edged and coloured with Distress inks.

The topper is from Live Out Loud and was stamped onto spare stamping card with blue Versafine, before being coloured with coloured pencils. You will see the edges have been torn and then coloured with Distress ink, before mounting onto the card base with 3D foam pads.

I started the background of this card by applying Distress inks and stamping the small feathers from Let Your Heart Sing and Dawn Chorus randomly across the card using Sepia Versafine. The lines were added by inking the side of a stamping block and applying to the card as well as adding brown inky splodges, to create a grungy looking background.

The tree silhouette from Live Out Loud was stamped onto spare card, before being cut out with a circle die and then coloured with Distress inks. The bird house was stamped onto spare card with Crimson Versafine, before being cut out. Both were attached to the card with 3D foam pads.

The card was finished off with the Live Out Loud sentiment.

Hello there! Rachel here today with another post with samples from the December shows. I love these stamps...I think they are so very versatile.  In this birdhouse I used stamps from  live-out-loud and fly-away-with-me.

I also used a script stamp in the background and added a melting pot flower too.

For this card I used the same two stamp sets working this time onto a gelli background that I had created using paints.

Finally in this card I used wise owl rubber stamp sheet - firstly with the gelli plate to create the background and also stamping in paint and fussy cutting the main image. I also used the sentiment from the live out loud sheet.

Hello there,

Today my 2nd blogpost as guest designer for CB........

Today I have played with another favorite of mine(there are quit a lot LOL) from the beautiful CB stamps. I like the stylish designs of Sue, they are so elegant and crisp!

This is the Floral Notes sheet and the word is from the Artistic Expressions. In the background I have used the lovely background stamp from the Dusky Damask set.

I had this inky background in my stash for quit a while and I don't remember exactly what I did use.......I am certain that is was done using water reactive inks and a lot of water.....than some sparkly spatters but you can't see it very good on the photo's. 

I have used Memento inks to stamp the flowers. I like to stamp in colors so there are no hard outlines.

Than I have colored them using color pencils.....also one of my favorite techniques. Some beautiful music in the background and I had the house for myself so that is a bit of quality time!

Here some close-ups........hear you can see a bit of the sparkles on the left side......

Hello everyone,
Here my second post for this month, I would say Katya represents me well, because Winter isn't
really my favorite season. Therefore this journaling page wants to be an anticipation of the Spring.

White Gesso, colours such as grey, blue, green, yellow, orange of Distress Ink Pad, stencils, swirls and feather from "Dawn Chorus", birds and sentiment from "Let Your Heart Sing", embellishments  are all dancing as a dream around " Katya".

  This stamp set seemed to cry out for monochrome , or at least this stamp strip did.....
Both the bird strip and the words were stamped in black versafine ink and clear embossed, trimmed down and edged with black ink. The central bird was coloured with marker pens, then both pieces mounted onto a white card blank.

This image from sing your song was stamped in black versafine ink and clear embossed, then coloured with brusho powders using s damp paintbrush to add the colours, and baby wipe to reomove some of the colour to try to give an impression of a misty sun.
The white card blank was randomly stamped with the same image using grey ink and holding the stamp so that only the bubbly bit was used. The words stamped over the top with black versafine before adding the trimmed down image.

New Home (by Doreen)

Hello everyone, Doreen is back with her second post this month, a delightful New Home card created for a family member. Doreen has written a detailed set of instructions for her card so that you can have a go at recreating the project for yourselves.

Doreen writes:

The reason for this New Home card is a personal one, my Daughter and her family have been living at home with my Husband and myself and though somewhat cramped, we have got through relatively well. They move into a new home in the coming week or two, hence the card....

Products used are:

Chocolate Baroque Home Sweet Home stamp set
Chocolate Baroque Masking Tissue
Vaersafine ink pad
Distress Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled Glass, and Bundled Sage, Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Crushed Olive, Forest Moss, Pumice Stone

Permanent ink pen
Black card for mat and card blank

To make this card:

1. Stamp the image onto card and another of the image onto masking tissue, cut out the mask on the inside of the outside edge line. There is no need to cut out the tree just the house is fine.
2. Place mask over image.
3. Punch or die cut a mask from the centre of a piece of copy paper, put the circle punched out to one side and keep, then place the outer around the house, this can either be held in place or taped if desired. Using stencil brushes add Squeezed Lemonade to the centre taking colour from side to side over the house mask and this will give you your 'sun'. Remove copy paper and using small piece of low tack tape, put your centre circle over the sun to protect from colour contamination. Add Tumbled Glass to the area above the sun allowing it to fade towards the top of the card. Do the same with Bumdled Sage below the house.
4. Remove masks.
5. Colour the roof using Rusty Hinge and Wild Honey (I used a tile to put some colour onto and picked this up with a damp paintbrush, adding water to dilute the colour as needed). Crushed Olive and Forest Moss were used for the grassy area, bushes and I added some budsto the bare tree. Finally I added the Pumice Stone for shadows under facias, window sills and a watered down wash over the white areas of the house.
6. With the permanent ink pen I formed a border to the card using dots and dashes.
5. Finally stamp and add the sentiment and raise from the image using double sided foam tape.

Mat and layer using foam pads between the black card and the topper.

Golden Dawn - by Penny

Goodly morning peeps, I hope this finds you all well and warm today.  I'm back today with my second post of this month, a cheerful card from the December tv shows featuring the beautiful Bird stamps.  So for this project I have used stamps from the Let Your Heart Sing, Dawn Chorus, and Live Out Loud  sets; Distress Inks, Versamark ink and gold EP.

I took a piece of white card and, using a couple of stencils from my stash I created a scenic background with a bright sunburst created with Distress Inks.  

I then stamped the Dawn Chorus collage image at the bottom of the panel using Versamark ink and embossed it in gold.  I repeated the process with two bird in the grass images.  I wanted the images to be seen clearly above the first one, so after embossing them I lengthened the grass on one of the images by painting an extension with a fine brush and glycerine, then embossed it as normal.  I stamped and embossed the poem at the top of the panel and added gold pen around the edges of the panel.   

I matted the panel onto black card and set it aside.  On a white base card I stamped several worker stamps from all the sets around the edges with DI then attached the focal panel to it.

Bright Brusho Bird (by Judith)

Hello everyone, I am sharing a project featuring stamps from last month's TV shows on Hochanda. During these dull Winter days, I wanted to create something colourful and vibrant, and so I turned to my Brushos to make some backgrounds. I made some spare backgrounds for later projects, and chose some bright, zingy colours, adding in some gold Sprinkle It for a bit of sparkle.

I stamped the large bird panel from the Sing Your Song stamp plate onto a spare piece of the blue green background, using Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear embossing powder. I also stamped the central part of the image onto a piece of my orange background. I cut the circle from the blue/green panel, and adhered the orange panel behind. I stamped and embossed the words onto a piece of the orange background for added contrast.

I matted the bird panel onto a piece of black card, trimming this to loosely match the shape of the panel. I edged all of the other pieces of card with black ink.
