Turtle Dove Easel Fold Card (by Debbie)

For the Christmas Season we probably send the most cards of the year so I'm always looking for ways to make cards that are as not going to cost a fortune in the post. An easel card is a great way to achieve dimension but to fold flat to go in an envelope.
I carefully stamped the pear tree from Turtle Doves with brown ink and
the star was inked with orange.
The tree was coloured with Coloursoft pencils.
I trimmed and matted with red and cream to make a topper for the card.
A strip of card was stamped with red Doves to make a border. I used a piece of A4 card, scored it in half and placed the topper on to see where I was to cut down from the centre fold to the next score lines. The sentiment from Christmas Magic Clear stamps was stamped onto cream, matted onto red and fixed to the inside fold. The border was attached then the tree topper and a couple of gems to finish.
The Honeysuckle is one of my favourite flowers
and couldn't resist colouring this one with oranges and the purples.
Many thanks for stopping by

  1. I have often tried making an easel card but they are never very successful so always nice to see one that 'works'

  2. That's a great Christmas card and your honeysuckle card is very pretty

  3. Love both of these, anyone would be delighted to receive that beautiful Christmas card.

  4. Your card are so beautiful Doreen , I just love them both!!!

  5. I like the structure of the easel card. Something out of the ordinary.

  6. A lovely elegant Christmas card which is practical too - I love the clean lines of the border strip you created & the way you used birds facing in both directions. The double matting of image panel is so effective & really makes me think of candy canes.
As for the Honeysuckle - a really gorgeous colour combination & I particularly like your detailed corners which echo the honeysuckle's tendrils as well as the shape of butterflies' antennae.

  7. Love the Christmas card - especially as Paula says it will go flat for posting! It is a real beauty, so very elegant too! Love the colours you have used on the second card and the beautiful way you have made the stamp the star of the card. Thank you for sharing Karen x

  8. These are gorgeous, love the stepper card and beautiful stamps.

  9. Love this stepper card, and the colours are nicely complementary, the bold of the red with the soft colouring of the tree, and the pretty border strip and the sentiment finish it beautifully. The second card has brighter shades but again they go together so perfectly, and that pretty pastel peachy orange is a lovey colour for the honeysuckle. x

  10. Such great colours on your first card! Love them! And a beautiful totally sunny card aswell!

  11. Gorgeous cards. Beautifully made.
