Merry Chrismas in August! (by Maria)

Hello there everyone!

I hope it's still warm enough because I bring you some coolness with some Christmas cards using the
"Snowy scenes" "Turtle Doves" stamp sets" and I hope you like them.
The stamps were already introduced in July so high time to show you, my samples. I made my cards with not such traditional colours but I hope you can enjoy them anyway. I think Christmas cards don't always need to be in red and green, I love them in bright colours too!

Greetings!
Maria

  6. Very striking indeed Maria, I think the first 3 are my favourites, especially the first with the very eye-catching rays on the right side echoing the birds tail feathers & with the bird pointing his beak towards it. In the second it's your addition of the green tree - for there is a hint of the tradtional red & green there (orange having red as a constituent). The 3rd caught my eye too with your sketchy colouring & the way your background hints at snowdrops & melting ice crystals.

  11. I love the colours, and they are not so much off from Christmas. Before it was made a Christian holiday it was a heathen feast to celebrate the passing of the longest night, a sign that days would be getting longer. To celebrate this and wish for good crops next year they decorated trees with fruit. 2 Years ago I decorated my christmas tree with sliced and dried oranges - it looked great. So "sinaasappel"-orange isn't bad! (Oh, and my information about the feast might be slightly off as I didn't check it again, but using fruit as decoration is right).

  12. These cards are all so beautifully stamped and coloured, and what clever use of the stamps. I love the citrus colours on the first three, and especially the lines radiating out from the poinsettia in the first, and then the stencilled stars with stamped stars within on the second, and then the prettily stamped baubles and the circular pattern in the background with more pretty stars on the third. I like the way you have put the star stencil in the sky of the fourth card, and the way the snowy scene is encircled by the moon, and the pretty gems and cute owls on the fifth. The stamps have been used very imaginatively on all the cards but I think my favourites would be the second and third. x
